Re: NVDA saying form

Hey everyone

Totally individual preference regarding whether you find the landmark announcement useful or not. But I thought it might be worth mentioning that you can navigate by landmarks on a webpage by pressing D (for Delta) for those who don't know. If a website developer has used them properly, it can often be a really efficient way to move through content and you might want to know they exist.

All the best.

Ben

Hi David,

I went to the document format under settings and unchecked the blox to announce forms and regions....
Like yourself, it was not checked by me to start; it just started a while ago.
Definitely mutant electrons.

Hello,

I am also seeing this behavior. I have not changed any settings between my previous NVDA version and my current one.

Thanks.
Dave.

I don’t update NVDA using the updater. I generally test new versions

lose any functionality that matters. But if settings are to be
retained by the updater, this setting evidently isn’t. You evidently had it off before.

I checked and the setting is on by default in recent versions. I
don’t know how far back this setting has existed. Since you didn’t
hear form and out of form announced, at some point, you turned the
setting off. If it should be retained by the updater and isn’t, this
bug should be corrected. This setting also announces landmarks and I
wouldn’t be surprised if you wanted to avoid that verbosity as well.

I don’t know if this setting used to be checked by default in NVDA.
The setting to change is in document formatting. Uncheck the check
box that says announce landmarks and regions.

Of course, I am not aware of changing anything.
Just more mutant electrons I guess.

Cheers,

Running the latest released version of NVDA on a Win 10 system
Something has changed after the update to the latest version of NVDA
or maybe the update of a addon.
On a web page if I get to a edit box to enter some data NVDA first
announces form. Where do you turn this off?
Thanks
