You can try using the speech dictionary.  But this is just two or three words and probably quickly, in a matter of perhaps two or three days, you will likely get used to it and it won’t bother you any more, nor will it slow you down.  Your screen-reader tells you all sorts of things about structure such as dialog, list, tree view, etc.  You are used to them and they don’t bother you or slow you down.  You do what you intend to do whether speech is occurring or not.  That would be the same in this case when you get used to it.
 
but if you want to stop the s;peech, I’ll suggest how you might do so.

Please respond to Roger's question regarding NVDA and Thunderbird using this topic, not either of the original two.
