Jon, from within a folder using Windows Explorer my instance of NVDA 2021.3 is identifying the numeric position you’re asking about, as in “1 of 12.” I am also able to have this information spoken in Outlook 365’s message lists.

Which email client are you using?

From within NVDA’s Object Presentation settings ensure that “report object position information” is checked. Also try checking the next check box in this dialog, which is announced as “guess object position when unavailable” which enables this feature to work from within Outlook.

eIs there a way to have sequencing iin lists using NVDA?
For example, in a long list of items in a folder or in a list of email messages in an email client, I would like to know where I am in the list:  e.g. 23 of 100.
