Gene, I removed my installed copy of NVDA and then installed a brand new one.  I had been using One Core Voices the Micro Soft David.  During the installation we just read the prompts and did what was asked.  My husband saw where it said no speech and I was surprised.  But I talked him through where to go and which things to click on.  It wasn’t hard but I don’t know if I could have accomplished it by myself.  I thought the instructions were pretty clear, at least to a person who had already been using NVDA.

 

Steven was the other person who finally pushed the correct buttons and figured it out also.  Marilyn

It isn't clear to me what happened in the two cases being discussed.  In your case, was NVDA set to no speech after an update or after an installation.  What was the case for whoever asked the original question? 

 

It shouldn't have happened but at least to me, it isn't clear when this happened.
