Re: Excel and sort data

Quentin and William,
Step 7 describes what I experience every time when sorting a document in excel. I am using Office 2016 in Windows 10 and latest NVDA – all latest versions.
This is a noisy and unnecessary babble of information. I always press the left alt key to silence it so that I can actually hear the options in the next drop down box.
I can also replicate this when I move away from the spreadsheet to another application and swing back again with alt+tab. This generates the full text that William describes.
The elements I hear are: 1.The Sheet title followed by the addition of "dash Excel" 2. Then "unavailable" 3.Then "Sort dialog, Sort widnow" 4. Then "Data Grid" 5. Then "Sort data Item 1 of 1" 6. Then "Order combo box, smallest to largest collapsed"
If I do not change the three boxes, "order by" "sort on" or "order", I do not get this echo as I tab from combo box to combo box. However, as soon as I activate any one of these combo boxes, I get the full whack of all six elements described above when I tab away from the combo box.
If I keep the alt key pressed when I press alt +tab to return to the Excel window from another application window, I hear the sheet title plus "dash Excel" but no mention of "Unavailable". However, when I let go the alt key, I then get the repetition of the Title and all six parts of the announcement.
This is an awful lot of verbiage and it has no value to me as a user.
All the best,
Cearbhall

I can replicate the first part - although just to confirm, the data itself is still read, it's just that you get the extra unnecessary list box list item information as well, correct?
For the next part, step 7, I couldn't replicate that, but maybe I was doing it slightly differently.
Would you be able to write it up at https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues please?
Kind regards
Quentin.
