One also might wish to investigate if anything else is running in the machine taking up resources. I've noticed that for some reason, Office products do seem to be very sensitive to background tasks.

Whenever inexplicable issues present themselves “out of the blue” and with seemingly no reason, I always try "repair installs" or repair utilities, and the ordering depends on what I suspect is the most likely culprit.

In a case like this, my order would be:
1. Using DISM (Deployment Imaging Servicing and Management) and SFC (System File Checker) to Repair Windows 8.1, 10 & 11. ( https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B98uELZbPFnOc2l4M0Y1V3pkcGM ) This allows you to rule out quite a few potential issues with Windows itself with very minimal effort, and not too terribly much time involved.

2. Following The Most Basic Troubleshooting Steps for Suspected NVDA Issues. ( https://nvda.groups.io/g/nvda/message/81494 ) This lets you rule out add-ons, among a couple of other things.

3. Uninstalling NVDA completely and reinstalling it.

4. Repairing Office: *Repair a Microsoft 365 application - support.microsoft.com* ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b )

It is well to open one's mind but only as a preliminary to closing it . . . for the supreme act of judgment and selection.
