I'd just like to let yall know i'm up with google chrome now.
It seems very very good for the most part.
I don't know what the issue was when i tried it before.
But, i even set it as my default browser.
I still hope edge becomes better because i like to use cortana and if i remember correctly google and cortana don't really work good together, especially when your search engine is not bing.com and the browser edge.
Or will the extention chromtana or whatever its called do the same thing?
And, again, thanks for the suggestions from  yall and thanks again to David for the tutorial.
Just fyi, it stays on my computer and no futher.. smile.

about balabolka and nvda.

hi every one.
i use balabolka and tried many versions of it.
but unfortunately i cant use it by nvda easily.
for example: when i want to select one character, one word, one line
and press shift left and right, shift control left and right, shift up
and shift down nvda does not announce anything and i cant understand
what do i am doing.
who can teach me to solve this problem?
thanks for your help and god bless you.

Re: google text to speech with NVDA add-on

Hi,
I am absolutely unsure if Google text to speech is open source
software or not, and even if it can be ported to Windows, that too
NVDA, however, being an Android user myself, I can certainly vouch for
the natural, pleasant and clear speech of this engine. The sole reason
why I, and many other Android users cannot even consider using this as
our primary text to speech engine is because of its unresponsiveness,
though I don't know if a Windows port, if possible, could improve upon
that downside, and make Google text to speech reasonably responsive.
It supports an increasing list of languages around the world, and
apart from unresponsiveness, I would go ahead and say that it is
pretty much at par with Vocalizer and Acapella.
Thanks.

Hi,

Fixing these won’t be trivial. There is work under way (not by me) to bring a complete overhaul of how emphasis marks are handled in libLouis, which will necessarily mean breaking backward compatibility.

Cheers,

Okay, this is great! A couple things I did notice, however:

1. Single letters after an apostrophe (as in "I'd" and "can't") still have the Grade 1 character indicator in front of them.
2. When text is formatted two different ways eg. italic and underline, only the first one that was opened is apparently closed at the end, although in the text both were closed. There is also the thing about the terminators appearing outside a set of quotes when the italicised passage started inside them, but that was in the previous version.
3. Single emphasised words are marked with the italic passage indicator and terminator instead of the italic word indicator.

I hope you don't mind me doing this on-list. If you knew about these issues already, I apologise.

In this case, run it as a temporary copy (say “continue” after accepting the license agreement), or tell it to create a portable copy.

Hi all,

This is mostly for those using UEB: A new third-party snapshot for testing latest UEB tables is now up. Note that this is equivalent to portable copy (please don’t install this version onto your computer, as this build does not support manual nor automatic updates).

Direct link:

http://www.nvda-kr.org/en/nvda_snapshot_brltbl20160315.exe

After launching this build, to use the UEB table set, from braille settings/output table combo box, select either English (Unified) grade 1 or 2 (both will be the last table set for English and they are labeled as “experimental”). Comments regarding this build should be sent to this list or to me directly. Thank you.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi, Will Chrome work on both IE and Firefox. Or is it a browser like IE and Fire Fox. Sorry this sounds dumb!

Hi scott,
I am so glad for you. I have Chrome as my default browser as well, and it is so much faster. The same web site loads up twice as fast, and Chrome is great for streaming. If I can be of more help to any of you, just let me know. Have a great one.

Just fyi, it stays on my computer and no futher.. smile.
thanks

Scott

It depends on what recording software you are using, but try looking for
an option like stereo mix in your list of recording devices. It's
unlikely that this is an NVDA-specific issue.

Re: google chrome comment

Yes, if you want to spend an unreasonable amount to solve captchas.  Rumola is much much cheaper and Webvisum can still be used with earlier versions of NVDA.  If you put a portable version of Firefox on your machine that is version 43 or lower, you can still use Webvisum on sites that require captchas to be solved and you can use the current version of Firefox on all other sites.  It may be that for someone who solves many captchas, this might not be as good a solution but for many, it may be a reasonable one.

I keep seeing, David, your claim that Chrome is faster.  How many machines have you compared Fire fox with Chrome?  I doubt that there is any meaningful difference.  I like the Firefox interface more and Firefox has many more popular add ons.  I am very skeptical that dumping firefox is necessarily a good idea and without meaningful comparisons, I shall remain skeptical that there is a meaningful difference in speed.

I have Chrome on my computers because there are sites, now and then, where I get better access with it.  I use Firefox as my main browser.

And as far as streaming is concerned, the browser doesn't stream.  Whatever player is used streams.  I am, again, very skeptical that Chrome is any better at streaming.

Re: For those using braille displays: brltbl20160315 now available

Hi,

Fixing these won’t be trivial. There is work under way (not by me) to bring a complete overhaul of how emphasis marks are handled in libLouis, which will necessarily mean breaking backward compatibility.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi,

In this case, run it as a temporary copy (say “continue” after accepting the license agreement), or tell it to create a portable copy.

Cheers,

Thank you.

Cheers,

Joseph
