Full digest issues
Hi.
I choose to receive the messages here in daily digest. I chose the full html version. First thing I noticed when I received my first digest, is a reply link after each message. When we press on this link, a new compose email page appears with the following in the to field. nvda@groups.io?subject=Re: hello there The problem is that the email cannot be sent that way at least with gmail's basic html view. I don't know if the experience is better with desktop clients such as live mail or thunderbird, or even with gmail's standart view. Also since the developers of groups.io listen to accessibility requests, perhaps it would be nice if there was a way to jump from one message to another when reading digest emails. Perhaps heading navigation, landmark navigation or something like that. Apart from that the experience with groups.io is very good so far. Nikos

Re: greeting from LAO PDR and want to discuss for the quickbook
Hello, I use NVDA with Quickbooks rather frequently and have asked several times if there is anything I can do short of developing the addon myself.

FW: [win10] Groove music app
#adminnotice
#msftaccessibility
Hi everyone, Important for those using Windows 10: a Microsoft engineer is seeking feedback from screen reader users regarding Groove Music. Please reply to me (nvda+owner@groups.io) or Vince directly (Vince’s email is below, writing to Vince would be much preferable; when you write to either of us, please use the subject line of “Groove Music accessibility”). The more comments Microsoft receives, the better in terms of making Groove Music more accessible thanks to more data from users. Please pass this to other lists where you know you have people using Windows 10, screen readers and Groove Music. Thanks. Cheers, Joseph

Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, Thanks for that support address! I've just emailed the groups.io support team about this. Thus I encourage all subscribers here on the NVDA list to report any accessibility issues to support@groups.io. Hope they will fix the issues.

Hi, There is a thread on Win10 forum where someone said you can use review cursor to read emails. No word on how NVDA behaves when composing it (this is all through the built-in Mail app). Cheers, Joseph

reading emails using the email app under windows 10
Dan Beaver
Hi, B I have moved to windows 10 and am now trying to get my email setup. I have discovered that reading the contents of emails isn’t as easy as I thought it would be.
I can’t seem to move into the message area of the emails so I can’t read them.
How do I do this?
Thanks.

Hi

A while ago i started putting together a blindness related website and parts of it cover stuff to do with NVDA. They are done from a blind users prospective using a desktop pc at that time. The operating system was windows 7 and different versions of NVDA were used as they came out. Not every thing in each release was put up there but enough to get a person up and running with NVDA. I am always adding to it both on blindness related stuff as well as NVDA. I was reading some of your ideas some I did not think of and made sence, so if you wanted to, I could put more of the basic stuff up there. For example turning off the verbos of nvda saying link, heading etc and where to look. The website if you want to have a look is at http://www.accessibilitycentral.net The pages have a lot of information and are long. They can also be found under the guide section. It does not have laptop commands as I don't use a laptop on those pages. Hopefully the pages cover a fair bit of material. Gene nz

I'm Nut, migrated from Freelists version of NVDA, and just unsubscribed from that list today. But, I have one issue, the toolbar buttons on the compose message page doesn't seem to be accessible with NVDA or Jaws. Though this may not be an issue for a number of people, but those who liked formatting texts in WYSIWYG editors may find it difficult, unless if they used their email clients to post messages to this list.

Having moved to NVDA from Jaws I found the concepts of Object, Document and Screen review, Navigator Object and review and Browse cursors particularly confusing as I couldn't find documentation that explained what they were and in what circumstances they are used.

I am not a beginner, but introducing NVDA to a new user is something I

have done on many occasions. Things they ask include: 1. How do I start NVDA? (either desktop shortcut way, starting .exe way, Run dialog way or Start menu way is discussed) 2. How do I quit NVDA? 3. How do I change the voice? Because the default one is too robotic for my taste! 4. Web browsing: how do I turn off verbose elements like clickable, table headers, landmarks, editor revisions, emphasis, etc. 5. Web browsing: single letter navigation (basics etc.) 6. Speech on or off, sleep on or off (what's the difference?) 7. Configuration profiles (benefits, warnings) 8. Keyboard layouts (differences, etc.) 9. Installing NVDA by one's self...how to (also update) 10. User guide popular applications and tricks (like Skype, MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint)

Hi, I’m guessing these are iCal attachments. Don’t worry about them (what’s more important is the message content). For those who’ve never seen this kind of message before: this is auto-generated when Nimer and I create a calendar event. These are created when we believe an event that’s of importance to this community are coming up, including the Accessible World Tek Talk presentation in a few days. Starting in April, we’ll include monthly reminders such as useful links, guidelines and so on. We’ll intentionally not include NVDA releases as calendar events as they are not quite predictable (although general time frame can be guessed, last minute bugs can delay a release); for those, we’ll use a different approach: hashtags. Cheers, Joseph
