Re: NVDA with touch screens

Travis Siegel <tsiegel@...>

Therre is a complete list of gestures NVDA supports in the documentation, but swiping up and down only moves one object forward/backward on the screen, (though you can use a gesture to read all) of the page if you want. Interestingly enough, the nvda-f2 which is the pass through gesture doesn't seem to do anything different with the swipe up/down gestures, so don't know if it doesn't pass them through, or if they just don't do anything else.

hi,

The kill windowless flash script seems to no longer be working. Whenever I encounter a flash object, nvda anounces it as unavailable. Is there anything I can do about this?

For me, it works extremely well. Good job NV Access.

It is impossible for a developer to pursue a bug if it can't be replicated, which I know is frustrating, but it's true.  Some example has to be presented that can be made to behave in the same incorrect way for anyone who tries it.

Yes. Hard to provide examples as they are inside my banking accounts. Of four banking sites two say stars for each char and two voice the characters being typed. I actually like the characters to be spoken but just wanted to report a change as I was told earlier that there was no way within NVDA to voice the characters in protected Edit boxes.

different sites where a password is required and it said star on some of
them and said the actual characters on some of them.

I should add that you may have to move a little above the link, then tab to it to get it to work.  When I just press enter on the link when I arrow to it, it does nothing.  When I tab to it, it works.  I am assuming for this answer that you are viewing mail as html and are pressing enter on the link.  The  sort of experimentation I described above needs to be done when dealing with links that do nothing.  Also, you can copy the link and paste it into the browser's address bar, then press enter.  That's another thing to try when a link does nothing.

Hi all,

NVDA 2016.4rc1 has just been released for testing. This is a release
candidate, which means that unless any critical issues are found, this
will be identical to the final 2016.4 release.

See this blog post for what's new and a download link:

Regards

Quentin.

Re: Glad to see the mobile MS voices in 2016.4 RC 1

Hi, Joseph,

I didn't think the mobile voices were included in this new version of NVDA because there's nothing about them in either the user guide or the "what's new" page. It's always a good idea to read eithe the user guide or "what's new" before saying that something is included or not.

A few things to consider:
* Is it really true that mobile voices are included as part of 2016.4 RC? If so, then why is it that people are not celebrating that?
* If mobile voices are really available, then why is it that NV Access is not telling us possible issues or cautions about these voices?
Before I give you the definitive answer, I'd like to ask that we think about the above questions. I'm doing this for an important reason: do not believe everything you hear unless it is crystal clear.

Can you use the voice in the last full version of NVDA?
Or only the last bat version?
