Hi, is this only for windows ten? Or is this for doc files. Meaning documents.

the feature is for those colaborating using certain kinds of files such as docx.  However, as I understand the way this works from reading the help for the subject, if you are sharing a file, then any time you open it in Drop box, the badge will be displayed, using default settings.  The badge only is displayed for certain file types such as docx.  It is not displayed for older file types such as doc.

Admin. Stop this discussion of Maheen

Gene

I almost never moderate the list because the list runs itself well in general.  But this is an exception.  The concern of who is the owner has been raised.  If someone knows something factual or convincing, fine.  Let the list know.  Other messages speculating and condemning and discussing Maheen are not proper on this list.  This is not a gossip list nor a list where people are condemned and discussed.  This entire thread has absolutely nothing to do with NVDA in the first place.  But I wouldn't have interfeered if it hadn't taken this turn and stopped in a reasonable time.  but the discussion is completely unacceptable as it stands.  I will block this thread if discussion doesn't stop in enough time for people to see this message.

I would not make such assumptions on nothing but circumstantial evidence.  Things go wrong.  odd things happen in terms of e-mail delivery.  Odd things may happen with their automated response system.  Are you aware that for a time, there were serious accessibility problems for XP users perhaps a year ago?  Drop Box solved these problems.  also, for whatever reason, they changed the interface of their settigs dialog, I don't recall what it's called and that dialog now works properly with screen-readers.  It was not properly accessible until perhaps roughly a year ago.

Hi everyone,

For anyone using the Dropbox app on Windows, there is a problem with accessing documents stored in your dropbox folder caused by a new feature in a recent update to Dropbox.

What is happening is that when you open a file from your Dropbox folder, it's popping up a mostly invisible window over the top of the Word / Excel window, and it puts it back there even if you alt+tab away and back. It's called the "Dropbox badge" and you need to go into the Dropbox preferences to get rid of it:

1. Press WINDOWS+B to go to the system tray

2. Press RIGHT ARROW to move to the Dropbox icon (it may also be in the System notification overflow).

3. Press ENTER to open the menu.

4. Press UP ARROW to go to Preferences and press ENTER

5. Press TAB 5 times to get to the "Dropbox Badge" grouping / combo box.

6. Press DOWN ARROW to get to "Never show".

7. Press ENTER to close the dropbox preferences.

Hopefully Dropbox will address this, however in the meantime, following this, documents in your dropbox folder should be accessible again.

Kind regards

Quentin.

Hi Larry,

Press F6 to change between sections of the window.  The first place after the document itself should be the "protected view grouping".  Then press right arrow to get to "enable editing" and enter to activate that.

Hello All. Again and again we see on the various blind and
low-vision technology related groups the desire of members to reach
out to each other regarding topics not related to the specific
technology that's the focus of those groups. This has caused friction
at times, and has inspired the creation of a new group: BlindLife.

The group description is as follows: "A place for discussing
technology, daily living tips n' tricks, accessibility, disability
law, and pretty much anything else with a focus on relation to those
who are blind or vision-impaired. Those who are sighted are welcome, too."

If you wish to have additional information about subscribing, etc.,
then send an e-mail message to BlindLife+help@groups.io or search the
web interface for BlindLife.

This is still the best venue to which to direct your NVDA questions,
but now there's a place for much less constrained conversation.

Not to alarm you but Maheen is known to have done so in the past,
changing his name, email address, writing style, etc. Perhaps if we
knew the name of the list owner it might offer up a clue as to the

Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>

I'm not quite sure what is going on, but loading in a doc file into Jarte which has tables normally works, justdoesnot show the tables obviously, but in the master and rc branches I seem to loose some text and get some spoken twice. its hard to work out if this is Jarte and something weird in the file or nvda, as I do not have any other version running.
Has anyone else noticed any issues? I know its probably still broken in next from recent tickets but I sense thatis a whole other issue.
It might well be that nvda is in fact now dealing with characters correctly in Word, but makes it a bit odd in Jarte since that is based on xp wordpad code.

Subject: [nvda] Dropbox problem (with fix)

Quentin.

The SAPI version, the one we sell, does not have asian voices.

I wonder if the sold addons include the Asian languages, like Japanese, Chinese, and such like that?

For now if you want Eloquence with a regular license you should buy from
Code Factory, where you can select between addon or sapi5.

Chris,

Many thanks for your suggestion. I was unable to preview the voice from
the text to speech settings from within the speech-recognition control
panel. However, I went to the advanced properties for the voices and
found that they were set to use the wrong audio device.I have set them
to the correct one and the voices are speaking again.

If you go to speech recognition in control panel and select text to
speech can you preview the voice through there?

Re: NVDA 2016.4rc2 Released

Hi,

Believe it or not, if the conditions are right, the fix for typed character issue in universal apps will make its debut very soon – it’s just that NV Access is concentrating on making sure you have amazing experience as you migrate to NVDA 2016.4 in a few days (at least a week from today).

Cheers,

Joseph
