A word of warning about xp and windoows update enabled systems with old amd processors
Brian's Mail list account
I noticed yesterday on an old XP Athlon machine, the chip with no sse 2, that after a latest xp security update which is enabled on that machine, the processor usage was 99 percent. trying this on a second machine running a sempron resulted in the same issue, but not on the old Pentium Intel chipped machines.
The thing is it seems to have altered the way the software looks for and downloads windows updates, so to stop this problem you need to turn off automatic updates. This can be quite a challenge with about 1 percent processor still working when nvda tends to need 143 percent, but after doing this and rebooting all is sweetness and light again. I only put this on here as I know a lot of folk in some of the poorer countries out there still use xp machines with the get updates hack on them, and wanted to help. I'll shut up about it now, as in fact its off topic. I imagine Microsoft never bother to test it on this processor as so many companies now do not support it, like dropbox or firefox to name but two. Re: Deleted file recovery software

You are correct about Vista not making Shadow Copy
available to home users except by using a third party utility. This makes
no sense but that's how it is. But Windows 7 has no such restrictions and
all versions allow the user to recover files working directly with the old
versions interface.
From Wikipedia:
The "Previous Versions" feature is available in the
Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions of Windows Vista[15] and in all
Windows 7 editions. The Home Editions of Vista lack the "Previous Versions"
feature, even though the Volume Snapshot Service is included and running. Using
third-party tools it is still possible to restore previous versions of files on
the local volume.

Re: Deleted file recovery software

Previous versions is a way to see the copies of
files kept by Shadow copy. I don't know how the means of seeing previous
versions may differ from one version of Windows to another. In Windows 7,
I either found it by right clicking a folder containing a file and looking for
an item named previous versions, or I found it by opening the properties of the
folder. I'm not sure now but I believe it is found by right clicking and
looking through the context menu.

Clamwin is not a highly rated program.
the problem described of slow performance with one
antimalware program after another is not generally experienced by NVDA
users. I don't know what is causing the problem but it is not a general
NVDA problem. Perhaps someone with more technical knowledge will be able
to help further.

in which program do you mean? you can read diacrritics in arabic for many programs by left and right arrow keys like letters. i mean that you can use microsoft office word, wordpad, notepad++, firefox and internet explorer both letters and diacritics by left and right arrow keys. but unfortunately, using windows notepad, libreoffice and openoffice, you cant read diacritics by left and right arrow keys and only letters are accessible.
