Re: Problem with Keyboard being nonresponsibe after NVDA2016.1 installation solved

Hmmm that can happen to.
I have had 2 systems with unified logitech units in the same room but never had a problem like that.
Batteries are the issue usually.
Always have a corded unit in, so you can plug then get the system working.
Then using your software updater update it and the drivers and if you need to get on the logitec website and update the firmware do that to.
The easiest way to do that in most cases, is just to download the firmware, run it as admin, and wait a second litterally while it runs then turn it all off and on it doesn't even come up on the system but yeah.

Uh, Windows 7 on a Galaxy? Um... yeah, you probably could do it with a lot of hacking and custom mod/romming, but, whether it would be legal? I dono, and beside, uh... why? That would be a waist of a darn nice Android tablet, in my opinion.

My question is what changes are being made to the NVDA 2016? Also, here is a hunch but here it goes. May I use NVDA on my galaxy tablet? Probably a dumb question but I had to ask. Lol! Re: KeyBoard Nonresponsive On Win10 Machine After Installing NVDA2016.1

hmm that shouldn't hhappen, you may need sighted help to login and restore then try again.
Have you tried a regular keyboard.
Have you tried your keyboard and mouse on another system?
Is that system the mouse the keyboard the boards, are they wireless?
Batteries in that case its why I eventually abandoned wireless boards.
The os is not working, try getting it fixed.

Dear members of the NVDA International Users list and the wider NVDA community:

For some, change of generation is a scary thing, while others would say it is a wonderful way to reflect upon our past and think about the future. As a moderator of this list and the chair of the NVDA Tenth Anniversary Planning Committee, I had a chance to think about this today. Specifically, I was struck by the following thought: If I die tonight, who’ll carry on my legacy and serve as a moderator who’ll shower you with more love than I did?

You see, for some time, I thought it is better to let a generational change happen. We now have members of the next generation who are very enthusiastic about NVDA and its community, people who are showing leadership potential and folks who are willing to love and serve you and the wider community. And I thought that this is a good time to carry this out, seeing that some of these new enthusiasts are the ones who are actively involved in promoting NVDA and events related to its tenth anniversary.

Thus, effective May 31, 2016, I’ll step down from the moderator position I held for the past three years. I’d like to request that members of this list hold a list-wide election to elect the new moderator. I’ll remain a member of this list, obeying the new moderator and serving the NVDA community.

Thank you everyone for your support for the past few years.

Cheers,

Hi Brandon,

I can duplicate your issue. One workaround I have found is to use object navigation and move left from the current focus. The word you land on is the problem word. You can also explore the dialogue to find if it is a grammar or spelling error. Having said that, I am unable to determine what kind of grammar error it is. Ticket raising time I think.

Re: tablets:

Christopher-Mark Gilland <clgilland07@...>

Hey there, Kenny.

I have a Microsoft Surface 3. Not a Pro. Just the plain Surface 3, with both wifi and AT&T cellular service. I find it to be incredible. The touch screen is not the greatest admittedly with NVDA at this point, in my opinion, but it is doable. I normally either plug a USB keyboard into the thing, or I connect a bluetooth keyboard.

Keep in mind that the surface has a keyboard you can purchase seperetly, which basically acts both as a foldup case, as well as a physical keyboard. I don't have that particular keyboard, as it was sold seperetly, and I already had a bluetooth keyboard I could use, but generally speaking, I have! seen them, and they are very very very nice. Speed wise, I don't have the most up to date Surface, as I think now, they're up to the Surface 4 Pro if I'm not mistaking. That unit does! have a keyboard by default natively, as well as the touch screen. That being said, the older model I have isn't too too old, but it came with Windows 8.1, but could be updated, which I did, to Windows 10 Home 64 bit. It works very very very well as far as speed goes. I actually have both JAWS as well as NVDA installed, and in both cases, they run very very smoothely.

Over all, I'm a little bummed out, OK, fine, I'm quite bummed out, that the touch screen doesn't work any better than it does, but hey. With a physical keyboard, be it bluetooth, or hardwired via USB, either/or, I'd say it makes for a damn good tablet, and honestly, the fact that AT&T is letting me pay it off on the Next program, being my Surface is also cellular ready, you can't vbeat that! I'm honestly not complaining. LOL!

Hi,
I find JAWS a more easy-to-remember name for maybe sighted persons or
developers who are being told about screen reading, but that does not
mean NVDA is a bad or inappropriate name - it is perfect, and
moreover, it would be really impractical and unrealistic to even
considering getting this whole product's name changed.
It certainly shall remain the way it is, and now NVDA has a quality
attributed to its name as well as a product, and that must be
retained.
Thanks.
