Filling out MS Word Document

Hello everyone,

I am filling out an MS Word form using NVDA.
The blanks to fill out are underlined Which NVDA speaks it as "line
line line ..." an as I type the information, those lines move forward.
Is there a way to keep the underlined blank line stationary while I type?
Or would it be best to delete the underlines, type the information and
then underline if I so wish?
I would appreciate your response.

NVDA Not Reading Formatting

kelby carlson

Hey, All,

I'm trying to use NVDA to check the formatting in a document. But
something has gone wrong somewhere. For example, I will have a
document in 12 pt font but NVDA will report it as 9 pt font when I
press insert-f. Likewise, I will go to a section of text I know is
underlind, but NVDA does not report it as underlined when I press
insert-f. What's going on?

VarioUltra and NVDA

                Hello,

How do I enter a space and a backspace when using the VarioUltra and NVDA? Is there a list of commands for braille displays?

Thanks.

Re: question about word.

Hi, it happens the same when I work with word documents. NVDA doesn't responde as fast as in other aplications, thunderbird or firefox for example. Any advise will be apreciated.

Best regards.

question: what's the use case of "report text columns"

蔡宗豪 Victor Cai

Hi all,
Could someone point out the use case of “reporting text columns”?

Here is My steps to reproduce a case.

  1. Open the attachment.
  2. Press ctrl+alt+arrows to move to row3 column2.
  3. Move to row3 column1.
    NVDA report: column1 column 0 of 1
  4. Move to row3 column2.
    NVDA report: column2 column 1 of 1

feature info:

In Microsoft Word, text columns can now be reported. This is enabled with the “Report page numbers” option in the document formatting dialog.

Hi Dejan,

This means a lot to me. I tried those other browsers to find the live Facebook, and I found nothing. I use the Chrome browser all of the time, but I never have used Facebook on it. I will give this a try! Thank you, Thank you!

Hi friends,

I have recently discovered that Google Chrome as a browser makes it possible for us to do the live streaming on facebook. I have checked IE, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Avast Safe Zone Browser, but to no avail. The link Live Video, it seems, is not recognized by them.

I hope this means something to you.

Dejan

I do not understand while so many blinds use www.facebook.com just use m.facebook.com and there is no problem at all!

I've asked for a good tutorial on using Facebook with NVDA but so far, no luck.  All anyone says is that Facebook changes their web page interface so radically and so often, that it just isn't possible to use except for Smart Phone app versions.

Re: A Couple More Word Quesions

Hi Kelby,

You are most welcome to purchase the book which does, indeed, cover most of these: https://www.nvaccess.org/shop/

But to answer your questions:

Moving quickly to misspelt words can be done with alt+f7.  This jumps to the next misspelt word and automatically opens the context menu which contains alternative words.  The issue with this is that you don't automatically see what the misspelt word itself is.  If you press escape you can close the context menu and the focus goes back to the document with the focus on the misspelt word so you can read the text around the word.

Right clicking on a word is most easily done by simply moving the focus to the word and pressing the applications key.  This works exactly the same as right clicking on the word and you can see either alternative words if Word thinks it's misspelt, or synonyms otherwise.

You can close task panes - some task panes have their own keystroke - for instance, press control+alt+shift+s to open the styles task pane, and close it using the same keystroke.  For most though, ensure the focus is on the task pane, press control+spacebar and choose close (press C).

Note that you can also use SHIFT+F6 to move through open panes and sections of the window in reverse order.

Regards

Quentin.

Sorry for asking so many of these; maybe I should buy the book.

1. Is there any way to quickly move to misspelled words in the
document by quick keys or does one have to use f7 to go to the
toolbar? (This is another thing NVDA might not do that JAWS can.)
Also, how do you route the mouse to a specific word so that you can
right clock on the word to see i.e. the thesaurus? I've tried this
with object navigation but I'm not getting anything?

2. Is there a way to get rid of the editing/proofing  toolbar when
you're done with it so you don't have to push f6 so many times when
moving between panes?
