Filling out MS Word Document
Hello everyone,
I am filling out an MS Word form using NVDA. The blanks to fill out are underlined Which NVDA speaks it as "line line line ..." an as I type the information, those lines move forward. Is there a way to keep the underlined blank line stationary while I type? Or would it be best to delete the underlines, type the information and then underline if I so wish? I would appreciate your response. Nevzat Adil

NVDA Not Reading Formatting
kelby carlson
Hey, All,
I'm trying to use NVDA to check the formatting in a document. But something has gone wrong somewhere. For example, I will have a document in 12 pt font but NVDA will report it as 9 pt font when I press insert-f. Likewise, I will go to a section of text I know is underlind, but NVDA does not report it as underlined when I press insert-f. What's going on?

Hello, How do I enter a space and a backspace when using the VarioUltra and NVDA? Is there a list of commands for braille displays? Thanks.

Hi Jim, Which version of NVDA do you have? If you are using 2016.4, this may explain why you’re not getting what you are looking for. Cheers, Joseph

Open NVDA menu, then go to the preferences menu. Arrow up until
you find the Document formatting menu. Click enter on it. Tab
until you find "Clickable", which is checked by default. Uncheck
it so that it comes silent. On 2/7/2017 9:42 PM, Robert Mendoza

Re: Facebook

As I have already said, open your facebook account via Google
chrome.
What I do?
When I open my account, I click on the link Skip to news feed.
Then I click on it. It positiones me down in the vicinity of the
Create post area.
Then, I activate the focus mode. I Shift-tab a few times till I
hear "What's on your mind" spoken. Then I tab till I come to the
very link called Live video. Then I switch back to the browse
mode, and then I press enter to activate it (for it fails to
activate while in the focus mode). Then, I go to the focus mode
back again, and I would tab till I hear "Next submenu". When I
click on it, a new pop-up window is opened for me. It contains an
option called "Go live".
I hope this helps!

Hi friends,
I have recently discovered that Google Chrome as a browser makes it possible for us to do the live streaming on facebook. I have checked IE, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Avast Safe Zone Browser, but to no avail. The link Live Video, it seems, is not recognized by them.
I hope this means something to you.

Re: A Couple More Word Quesions
Quentin Christensen
Hi Kelby, You are most welcome to purchase the book which does, indeed, cover most of these: https://www.nvaccess.org/shop/ But to answer your questions: Moving quickly to misspelt words can be done with alt+f7. This jumps to the next misspelt word and automatically opens the context menu which contains alternative words. The issue with this is that you don't automatically see what the misspelt word itself is. If you press escape you can close the context menu and the focus goes back to the document with the focus on the misspelt word so you can read the text around the word. Right clicking on a word is most easily done by simply moving the focus to the word and pressing the applications key. This works exactly the same as right clicking on the word and you can see either alternative words if Word thinks it's misspelt, or synonyms otherwise. You can close task panes - some task panes have their own keystroke - for instance, press control+alt+shift+s to open the styles task pane, and close it using the same keystroke. For most though, ensure the focus is on the task pane, press control+spacebar and choose close (press C). Note that you can also use SHIFT+F6 to move through open panes and sections of the window in reverse order. Regards Quentin.
