Re: NVDA2016.1 questions

Dan Kerstetter

Honestly, I don't know of any screen reader that works particularly well
with iTunes. So far NVDA seems to be the best of the three that I have. I
hope someone might be able to write an ad-on for it someday. (smile)

Just my two cents worth.

I haven't used iTunes in a while so couldn't tell you what is happening, but
the last time i used it. it worked well with NVDA 15.4 and iTunes 12 or
whatever the latest one was. It would be nice to have an auto run feature
for the portable copy of NVDA. I tried creating one and it would only auto
run in windows vista. Next project maybe would be to create an NVDA stick
that you can carry with you and it can just start talking as soon as it is
plugged in.

Joseph and whoever does the GoldWave AddOn for NVDA I'd like to suggest
having the ability to via Alt+numbers from 1-9, be able to move between
files during editing, instead of having to do
Control+tab? kind of like what the other screen readers' scripts do.
Thanks for implementing.

Re: nvda and libreoffice

juan gonzalez <jgonzalezh614@...>

I am just getting into libre Office and was wondering if you had some
tips on how to make it work better with NVDA. Thus far i have disabled
use java features and enabled use beta features. not sure if that is a
good thing or not but it seemed to make NVDA work a bit better with it.
Issues i have been getting include:

i was trying to set a password to a document and when i went into
settings/security and tried to find the add a password button. NVDA
would not tab around the dialog. i don't even know how i got it to find
the button but i did. when i set the password i selected OK and it took
me back to the settings dialog where again i could not tab around to the
OK button. as far as i know it didn't add my password to the file and
haven't found a way to do it.

another problem is when i put a misspelled word and i correct it with
the applications key. NVDA doesn't seem to know where it is at and i
have to pull up the start menu and go back to the libre Office to be
able to keep editing my document. happens also in excel sheets.

any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated

Yeah, 15.4 worked good with iTunes, so I don't know if is iTunes or 2016.1.
I wonder if there's any chance of a fix before 2016.2 comes out.

Re: NVDA crashes on explorer window

juan gonzalez <jgonzalezh614@...>

Could it be that his preview pain is enabled in windows explorer and his
machine lags when trying to preview the files. Try waiting a few more
minutes when you open file explorer to give the machine time to load
everything. now if you are looking through different files it might
crash because it will try to load that file in the preview pain again.
hope this helps

You need to make an autorun file and put it on your flash drive. Keep in mind this will only work if you have autoplay turned on. It's a security feature.

To make doubly sure you've saved all your settings, it's an idea to go to
the NVDA menu as soon as you've changed settings and choose Save
Configuration. Also, go to the NVDA menu, Preferences, General Settings, and
make sure "Save configuration on exit" is checked.
