I don't see why Klango wouldn't, and even if it didn't natively, you probably could run it in compatibility mode.

How hard would it be from the official build, like in this case, 2016.1,
to put an option in the NVDA menu, maybe under Tools, that automatically
like downloading updates would let the user download and install the
latest snapshot build rather than them having to go out to the web site
and manually get it. Either that, or maybe under the General tab of
preferences, where you have the box to check or uncheck for checking for
updates, maybe have another one that says download snapshot builds when
updating.
What do you all think?

Re: Not much success using Goldwave with NVDA

Hi,
Wait, you say you are using 5.5.5 (I think you meant 5.55)? I'm sorry to announce that any version earlier than 5.58 isn't supported. The add-on will work with 5.58 or later (going forward, add-on 4.0 and later will require GoldWave 5.70 or 6.x).
Not all commands from JAWS scripts are available due to technical reasons.
As for status bar commands, I believe you are referring to Control+NVDA+number row commands? They were defined according to how status bar information is displayed on screen (from left to right, these are channel, length of file, selection and others). I usually prefer not to assign commands such as Alt+Shift+letter because they might conflict with native GoldWave commands (unless I need to provide feedback or workaround).
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [nvda] Not much success using Goldwave with NVDA

Dear all,
I was recently trying to learn audio editing with Goldwave (version
5.5.5) using NVDA version 2016.1 and the latest development snapshot of the Goldwave add-on. Although the audio tutorial series (in the Urdu language) was recorded with reference to JAWS, I have wanted to stricly adapt all the key commands to NVDA and use NVDA for this task too.
However, I am finding that either I am ignorant about Goldwave usage with NVDA, likely because of lack of sufficient documentation material, or NVDA is not as efficient with the process as JAWS is (which I would not like believe is the case in actuality).
From hearing the audio tutorial series, the JAWS scripts key commands involving Alt + Shift and a certain intuitive alphabet to receive certain information is very logical and easy to understand, whereas NVDA's combinations for Goldwave are rather weird and require roting more than rationale. E.g. along with Alt Shift, I believe s, d and f is very comprehensibly used, so is u, i and o, as well as e, r and t, everything being easy to visualize and learn quickly, whereas NVDA's Goldwave add-on has absolutely random keyboard shortcuts, and maybe less too in number and information as opposed to the JAWS scripts.
Reading the status bar is also more useful in JAWS than in NVDA as was demonstrated in the audio tutorial, and for some odd reason, I am unable to use the Shift and Ctrl + Shift + left and right arrow keys to move markers and cursors with NVDA, as the JAWS user explains in the audio tutorial.
Conclusively, I would like to thank Joseph and the other contributors of the Goldwave NVDA add-on, and emphasize that a JAWS versus NVDA comparison is not the topic I intend to raise, Goldwave support is.
Since I seem to be able to locate no useful information on usage of Goldwave specifically with NVDA, and my initial impressions suggest that JAWS might be more efficient at this job, I am considering using JAWS while doing audio recording and editing, but I hope with your valuable responses and clarifications that might not need to happen.
Thanks for all the work the NVDA add-on team is doing!

Its still a bit clunky but its better than it was to some extent ie I

I don't use all its features, skype chat, skype video and audio calls I
don't use anything else.
Skype is mostly a modified html page using the ie engine or whatever it

Its probably why they wish to upgrade it, ie is due to get retired, its
also heavily flash based as I had to shut down skype to load flash updates.

Most work is via text some by audio.
Skype is good for me for the fact that when required family can use
video with eachother, I also have a good quality speaker system for

For me its good to use video if I need to show my face to someone that

I'm trying to find an optimized workflow. Currently I have the following sequences figured out:
1. Upon starting Hangouts, enter focus mode then hc to go to conversations. Select one with arrow keys then hit enter to activate it.
2. To read history, tab or shift+tab several times then use arrows to read. Afterwards, tab or shift+tab several times again to go back to text entry.
3. To go to another conversation, esc to close chat, shift+tab to set focus to a meaningful element, hc to go to conversations, then procede as in step 1.
Still seems clunky to me but at least workable. I wouldn't call it productive though. If anyone has an idea how to streamline these user stories, please let me know.
