Wooo, testing it, wordpad is totally unusable for me in Windows 7. I can't open ribbons, I can't move between buttons in save dialog, I can't locate the ribbon with object navigation (I can locate these using flat navigation but is not activated) etc... horrible.

free alternative to Qcast
There is a free alternative to Qcast, and Qread, even, but I think this is a better podcatcher in some aspects. Anyway, the link is below.

Just for the record, there is a free alternative to Qcast. It is the accessible podcatcher, found in the webbie suite of accessible programs. Link is below.

Now you see why we need to have updates announced when you
check for updates so you can defer them until there is a fix for
them and some on this list don't think so. Some of us care what
is being downloaded in toour computers. I still want what little
control I still have. Brian Sackrider

Read current line 3 times to copy its content to clipboard?
Gerardo Corripio
I've always wondered with nvda Why not PUT IN A COMMAND OF 3-TIMES nvda+L (Laptop keyboard layout) that reads current line, 3-times so that what NVDA just read gets copied onto the Clipboard? Just like the logic behind NVDA+t 3-times to copy the title's content to the clipboard, the same logic could be applied to NVDA+l 3-times, right? it's just so natural of nvda+T 3-times that I've thought why not implement this into copy current line? I'm always looking for ways to better NVDA, thus the suggestion.

Re: using find to locate text on a webpage with NVDA 17.1
Chris Mullins
Hi I tried to access afb.org using NVDA 17.1 and observed the following:
A ‘one size fits all’ approach to browsing the web is not appropriate as sites have varying levels of accessibility built into them. Afb.com has accessibility at the forefront of it’s design and as you would expect is very blind user friendly.

Do you mean using h to move through results? NVDA has the same kind of input help that JAWS does. NVDA and 1 on the main keyboard toggles it on and off. While in the browser, you can check all the quick navigation keys by typing any key you want and seeing what it says. the movement commands, h for heading, n for skip block, of links, b for button, etc. are almost all the same in JAWS and NVEDA.

Yes, the find was causing me problems. However, I do have one more question now you asked. When I am using google, when moving to the search edit field I press the letter f as with other screenreading programs. Then when reaching “search landmark combo box editable” I hit enter, a short click signaling the edit field is opened.
Then I enter text and hit enter. Next I press escape and a short beep is heard. Pressing H will move me through the search results as should happen. Is that the recommended way with NVDA?
From: nvda@nvda.groups.io [mailto:nvda@nvda.groups.io] On Behalf Of Gene
It's control NVDA key f. If you are using the default desktop layout, insert is the only active NVDA key. Do you know other commands students should know such as read current line and other screen review commands?

Greeting NVDA wizards, I am trying to write directions for some students on how to search a webpage for text. I am using AFB.org site. I wish them to locate “access” that will land the cursor on “Access World Registered.” This is a magazine published by AFB which I am sure all of you have heard of. However, When trying control-f, typing in the search and hitting enter. The cursor does not move anywhere. I had heard this was going to be fixed in Version 17.1. Does anyone have a solution or work around? Thanks in advance.

This problem apparently arises when the CTRL+PAGEUP or CTRL+PAGEDOWN are used to navigate between the spreadsheets in a file.

I forgot to mention that NVDA is not totally mute in Calc. It announces the title bar. It seems that the sheet change somehow affects NVDA. Em 03/01/2017 09:25, Walmir Schultz via Groups.Io escreveu:

Excuse me, but LibreOffice is broken, at least when working with NVDA. This is especially true with Calc. At least in the case of decimal digits being announced in a
different form that they are shown on the screen, the fault
apparently is of LibreOffice 5.2.x Em 18/04/2017 16:06, Brian Vogel

In this case, I was talking about security and
stability updates issued monthly. I doubt those are tested in the insider
program. Microsoft does, from time to time, release a bat patch.

Re: Wordpad ribbons
Gene
I've seen three reports now cumulatively on
different lists that Windows 10 users aren't affected by the Wordpad
problem. One or two users have Windows 7 and Windows 10 computers and they
have the problem on their Windows 7 machines after updating and not on their
Windows 10 machines updating. So Windows 10 users don't need to
worry.
