help using karabeaner for mac

Jessica D <jldail13@...>

Hi,

I need help using Karabeaner for mac, to turn capslock into an insert key, for use with NVDA, which is why I’m asking here.

Does anyone know how to use this program?

I’m running windows 10, version 1703 with NVDA 2017.1.

Thanks,

Jessica

Anyway, here are our issues: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues - there is a search edit on that page you can type your query in to see if there's an existing
issue (open or closed, though note it will only show open issues at first by default) which deals with what you are looking for.

To post a new issue, there should be a "new issue" button on most pages. Activating that will take you here: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/new with the
main components being a title edit and a "leave a comment" edit where you can describe your issue in detail.

Hi Christo,

The log didn't come through, but feel free to send it to us at info@....  Re the problem, do you know what could be different about the computers that it is happening on to the other (or different about the others?

You said you had reverted back to NVDA 2016.4, does that fix the problem?

Also, you mentioned you are not running the latest build of Windows 10, which build are you running?

They seem to have changed the actual page layout. Of course now they ask in the UK if you have a licence, but the content won't play abroad I know.

They have finally abandoned flash thank goodness and things work OK with html5, but since the whole thing now has to play via the licence prompt not the play prompt even in the uk you get some cases where firefosx seems to miss this prompt and then it seems like there is an error part way down the page complaining of server not found or similar. a few refreshes eventually seems to sort it.

Hello chaps, Alasdair here from WebbIE.

The BBC have killed their 7-day TV listings: you get "Maintenance
mode: From April 18, 2017, the BBC is no longer able to offer XML, RDF and iCalendar (.ics) views of programme metadata from this location."

This means that the BBC iPlayer TV program from WebbIE is affected.
The listings per-station are all broken - BBC 1, BBC 2, and so on.
However, the Audio Described section is unaffected, because the program does not use the listings - it goes to the website and screen-scrapes. (Though I note it needs some tender loving care).

I can't see that the Radio side is affected - there are still programmes from yesterday, for example.

Best wishes,
Alasdair King

from macknasrin, I use ESR 45 web visum 9.2 from the blind bargains site and plain old favorites, work in that program, just don't download 64 bit ESR no matter what you are running. when you open firefox go to tools, add/ons extensions, web visum, I think options, and make sure that the check for updates, is set to off.

Is this a new computer? If everything else concerning web navigation is working, then I wonder if a very specific part of what used to be called MSAA Mode and now is called, I think, UI automation is corrupted on the computer? It may be that installing certain files might correct the problem. We'll see what others say.

Re: Single key navigation not working

This being a new machine, one has to suspect its perhaps got some kind of special software installed that is affecting things. Can you toggle in and out of focus and browse mode.
Does the single key stuff work in pdf and doc files?
If everything is affected, I really don't know what to suggest, butt one has to suspect a problem on the machine itself I think.
Some brand new computers come stuffed with crapware of one sort or another which pop up warnings about buy me or whatever after some days. The best course with new machines seems to be to get an expert to remove all software you will never use like Norton and other things from the machine, all toolbars and stuff like that that are a waste of time. Make sure the function keys are set to be that not special media keys .
I often despair when I see the rubbish some people put up with on their machines when they buy them. I guess they know no better.

No thus far radio is still OK.
The problem was if you read the thread slightly fixed in the last few days when BBC suddenly seemed to have realised all the links they had busted and fixed them, though it does not work in the way it used to.
Why did they change the actual page layout and the way you select ad and play content? Well, who knows with web site designers, the cynic in me suggests to keep them in work.

Suggesting that the removal of the metadata has to do with rights issues seems pretty lame. Its never stopped them putting up the page, sorry we are unable to stream this content due to rights issues in the past, so why now?
No I think its deliberate to stop third party software working.

Re: Question about reading a whole row with nvda in excel

Quentin Christensen

Hi Gene,

There isn't a direct command, but a workaround is:

1. Press SHIFT+SPACEBAR to select the row
2. Press control+c to copy it to the clipboard
3. Press NVDA+c to read the clipboard

This will read the whole row as one block of text.  Note that it will overwrite anything you already had on the clipboard.  It also reads the values of cells, not formulas.  If you want formulas read, press control+` (control+grav) to toggle between showing values and formulas before copying the row.

Similarly, if you want to read the column, press control+spacebar instead of shift+spacebar at step 1.

Kind regards

Quentin.

I was aware of Exif, but I thought this was purely used for technical
information about the camera, settings, date & time, and maybe any post-

I didn't realise it had a free-form text field for image descriptions.

I hope you find some image manipulation software which allows this to be
edited.

You'd need to identify where & how you want these descriptions to be

- text files with the same name as the JPEG, but a .txt extension
- a database linking the image filesname to the descriptions
- some library or gallery application which supports this sort of

Best wishes,

in the uk like myself it was relatively easy to find a show, go to the
page say yes to tv licence, and then select ways to watch and switch
on the AD. NOw when you go to say yes to the tv licence, it
immediately plays and one cannot even hear if the selection is there.
One assumes its somewhere but either nvda/firefox is not seeing it or they have completely screwed it up.
Has anyone here in the UK managed to watch programme with AD since
last week when it changed without warning?

Is it just me or is it bust.
