Good morning,
Does anyone knows how to turn off the reading of spaces in Narrator?
Very much appreciated.

I gather Microsoft are trying to do a google and making an operating system
that sits mainly online like the Chrome books do, but using their office
suite.
At the moment my only reason for mentioning it here is that as far as I
know, the only screenreader that can work on such a device will be Narrator,
and as a heads up if anyone sees these machines about and assumes that if
its windows it must work with nvda.
I have no idea when they will be available and thus far I've only herd
about them from two sources.
So watch out.

Hey there, moti,

Nice to see you here!

Thanks so much!

The reason why I prefer a 6-dot table is that I need to use it with a virtual braille keyboard in Android.

I'm perfectly happy with the one NVDA has for use on my pc; in addition, a friend added Hebrew, Russian and Greek to the Italian 8-dot tablea few years ago, and that's quite handy!

Thanks for your advice.

Ciao, Shalom,

Ollie

First, I don't suggest you to use 6-dot Hebrew Braille table.
But if you still wish, you can go to the Hebrew 8-dot Braille table, copy it and save it in another place.
After that you can paste the copy to the documents and then you can open it with Notepad and edit it.
You have to delete the 7 and 8 dots in the HEBREW SECTION.
Then you can save it and replace the original 8 dots.
I hope it's clear.

Hello all,

Does anyone happen to know whether there is a literary braille (6-dot)
Hebrew braille table?

And, how can a braille table be added to Liblouis, if at all possible?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Ciao,

Hello John,

If there's a literary Hebrew braille table in Liblouis, that's fine enough. I need it for the Soft Braille Keyboard in Android, but would also love to have it in NVDA.

I'll see what can be done.

Meanwhile, thanks so much for pointing me to the table.

Hwello all,

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could send me a portable version of FireFox 52 through Dropbox or some other means. I would also be grateful for a version of Webvisum which works with it.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, anyone can read through the issues without needing to log in.  You only need to create an account if you want to post an issue, or comment on an issue.  Creating an account is free.

Kind regards

Hi Brian,

Sorry, I didn't notice your request from a few days ago if it did make it
through here.

Anyway, here are our issues: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues -
there is a search edit on that page you can type your query in to see if
there's an existing issue (open or closed, though note it will only show
open issues at first by default) which deals with what you are looking for.

To post a new issue, there should be a "new issue" button on most pages.
Activating that will take you here:
https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/new with the main components being
a title edit and a "leave a comment" edit where you can describe your issue
in detail.

Kind regards

Quentin.

Just simple links and buttons to look for is all I want. Not managed it
yet, I'm sure it used to be on create new and there was an option, but
cannot see it now.

Hi

The Kaleidoscope Training Unit have a problem, again.

We are running WINDOWS 10, not the latest release, with office 2016 and NVDA
2017.1.

We suddenly experience a problem with Excel as well as when we use the start
menu. In Excel there is no speech response when you enter from cell to cell
or even when you navigate by using the arrows. When on the start menu the
only response is "unknown". In Excel, for example when you press ALT,P,S,P
"unknown" is all you hear.

Strangely, it only happen on certain of our desktop computers. Might I add,
we have uninstalled NVDA 2017.1 and reverted back to NVDA 2016.4.

We made a screenshot of NVDA's Log Viewer which I am going to attach. The
attachment name is nvda error.PNG.

Please, if someone can help it would be be appreciated very much.

If you need more info, please don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Multi-User-Dungeons and NVDA

Travis Siegel <tsiegel@...>

Nothing to optimize. NVDA reads the text coming across the screen just fine. If you don't want to see everything, then use a client that has gag capabilities, then you can repress certain text strings, so you don't see them. Most muds also have various settings you can use to cut down on the amount of spam you receive, especially during battle. Nothing special needed to mud using NVDA, it works just fine.

You don't have to presume.  It would serve the person better to answer both questions or the one that is more likely the intended meaning.  I consider the interpretation I raised to be the more likely meaning.  Others may consider the other to be.  But based on the answers, no one answering appears to have considered that something else might be meant or if they did, they appear to have considered unlikely and not answered in that way.  Thus my comments, intended to stir other answers.  If the person is getting mail as a digest or is busy or can't look at mail for a day or more after asking the question, wouldn't it serve the person to answer both questions or at least have some people answer one interpretation and some the other?  Thus my earlier comments.

Yes, because some presumption about intended meaning is necessary to answer any number of ambiguous questions.  If that's not what the original questioner meant then I am sure that she will clarify.

The only other choices are to ignore the question entirely or answer the question with another question, neither of which is generally considered socially acceptable. Meta-analysis of the questioner's intent and the responders' responses is particularly unhelpful.

When it comes right down to it, based on the way Microsoft is updating Windows 10 over time and that you will eventually be on the latest version unless Windows Update is broken, my response is always get the latest version of Windows 10.  At a minimum you'll be experiencing the same issues as everyone else.

Same for NVDA - the latest stable release.
