Re: trouble with submit buttons on web forms and some web links

Hi Ken:

I can't answer why some links are not opening or why some buttons are
not beinng activated, but what works for me sometimes is to press
shift-enter or control-enter and that opens them. As for the buttons,
maybe something similar might work, or try routing the mouse to focus
and pressing the physical left mouse button. I have actually
encountered websites which had stylized buttons which the screenreader
did not recognize as buttons.

As for your second problem, I don't know the answer, but a way around
it may be to open Google Chrome and copy and paste the link into the
address line in Chrome.

NVDA can’t seem to open the browser. a tipical situation might be like this.
I finish reading my emails in the morning, then I go to facebook to check

newsline all on firefox, the next time I look at my mail I’ll see something
that I’ll want to read on the net, but instead of my default browser which

it will then say internet explorer, address not valid. IE has nothing to do
with it chrome is my default. to fix this I have to reboot. I have never
encountered this with jaws running. it has done that with windows 7 and
with 10 now. what prevents NVDA from recognizing that chrome should come up
not explorer. why does it think Oops no such address when You are clicking a
link within an email that should take you to Komando.com for example. it
only happens when I come back to my inbox after doing other things. am
running windows 10 anniversary update. creaters is downloaded but I have to
get a thumb drive to copy a file over so I can correct the partition issue
that is preventing creaters from installing. there is a corrupted file in
one partition and creaters thinks, Oh No, I don’t know if there is enough
space on the computer. there is BTW over 500 GB available. I have to get the
file that has the repare tools out of that partition, then delete the
partition then put the repare/startup tools back in. microsoft anser desk

Re: hot key assignments

Regarding changing hotkeys, the "input gestures" dialog will let you set
custom gestures. Press NVDA+n for the NVDA menu (where the NVDA key will
either be INSERT or CAPS LOCK) then press P for preferences then N for input
gestures (or arrow through the list and press ENTER on it).

In the dialog, you can filter to "search" for a command, then TAB to the
list of commands (it's a tree view, sorted by command type) - use the left
and right arrow keys to expand or collapse the tree branches. When you are
on the command you want to add a new command to, press alt+a then press the
key command and ENTER . Then press ENTER again to save your changes.

Re: installing NVDA on a machine with Window-eyes already installed

Hi Sally:

You definitely don't want them running at the same time because not
only iwill the speech be confusing but the keyboard commands will not
work well because, for instance Window-eyes uses insert-q to announce
your battery status if you are using a laptop, and NVDA uses that same
key combination to close the program, so when they are both running,
insert-q can either perform one action or the other.
