I'm not sure what you are asking. You said that there should be a warning every time someone entered a password with announce characters on. I said that that shouldn't be done.

Excessive verbiage is one of the most annoying things a screen-reader can
do. In this case, it would be unnecessarily repetitious and paternalistic.
It's obvious when the feature is on because you won't hear star when you
type the first character. In the documentation, it should be stated that
this feature shouldn't be used when others can hear what you are typing.
When the feature is used for the first time, perhaps this should be stated
with a do not show me this again check box. But nothing more is necessary
or desirable. Beyond a certain point, if people do stupid things, they
deserve what they get and should be responsible for what they do.

I'll make up a new Latin legal expression which, it is unfortunate, doesn't
exist now. Lex non est mater. The law is not a mother.

Yes they are reviewed. However as I said before how its done should always
bring up a warning when a password field is seen. IE warning you password
repeat mode is turned on.

Re: W10 creators update

Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>

It seems to me that windows and to some extent other software is going down a slippery slope toward rental. By this I mean that at present you get updates in the background, giving them the wherewithall to change your environment at will without asking. The S version of 10 is nearly all running on cloud based software and is the next step toward the connected world.
I just don't want any part of this. it introduces the single point of failure that I hate to have, it also makes what we can do controlled by somebody else and arguably lets them know exactly what we are doing as well.

I have stopped my windows 7 boxes from updating to 10. Don't get me wrong, there are good things in 10, but if they cannot allow simple system control by a user then I don't want it. I'm sure the pro version of 10 has some ways to stop these major updates, but seemingly, and increasingly if you do not have them, software by Microsoft and other vendors will just not work if you fall too far behind. This is what comes as a result of this make it up as you go along software development system, using real users as guinea pigs without consent.
Look at what just happens to windows Mobile Users recently, where a whole load of phones had to be re installed as an update stopped them working completely.

I have been looking at the content of the new creators update for W 10, it
seems, as always, there is little to make our lives easier as blind and
visually impaired. Three D pictures and gaming, plus “improved” edge
browser.
It would be better if theyconcentrated on things that have gone wrong so
far, one such is the innability of getting to the power button with the
keyboard, I don’t thinl this is only me as others have reported it on
freelists, it’s stil there and accessigble with the mouse, but the keyboard?
no, I can close down with alt f4 of course, but that’s not the point.
After all that, do you think this is going to be yet another of those
updates which will install whether we like it or not? it seems likely if we
have automatic updates set. I don’t want it at any price, it will do
nothing to make my life easier, indeed, it may even make it harder and more
complicated.
What is your opinion on the subject? I know Microsoft intend to ask if we
want to do anything with our settings, but we should have the option of
refusing this update, it’s the thing that I don’t like about W10, it seems
to want to do things to our machines whether we want it or not, I state as
an example that my Wife’s photos were put into completely different folders
without her permission when she got the anniversary update, I suppose she
must have clicked to say she wanted it, but she can’t remember doing any
such thing.
O K rant over, comments please!!!

David,

Gmail forwards the entire message, including any attachments, by default on

forward. I have three Gmail accounts and just used one to send a message
with a PDF and image attached to the second, then forwarded that message
from the second to the third using the standard Gmail web interface
"forward". The attachments go with.

This is also discussed repeatedly as the default behavior both on Google's
support forums,
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/gmail/aFEbDRdRxj0, (
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/gmail/aFEbDRdRxj0, ) and
elsewhere:
http://smallbusiness.chron.com/forward-attachments-gmail-70365.html (
http://smallbusiness.chron.com/forward-attachments-gmail-70365.html )

What are you activating to forward? The Gmail keyboard shortcuts, when
active, only give two options, 'f' for a straight forward and SHIFT + F for

forward in a new window. Any forwarding within Gmail that does not involve
an e-mail client program, which may or may not forward attachments depending

on its own settings, should forward the message and all attachments.

There has been a problem introduced with mIRC in the latest nvda release. It reads 2 lines of text every time one line is entered or sent by someone else. Tonight is the first time I've run mIRC since nvda 2017.2 came out and it's really bad now where it never did this before. I tried restarting nvda and still the problem is there. I believe there is a tool bar, not a menu, that shows at least some add ons.  My guess is that that is what is being asked about but I don't know if it's accessible.

James,

I'm not entirely clear about what you're trying to do, but here goes.

If your only concern is getting to the add-ons manager then CTRL+SHIFT+A will open it in a new Tab.

Alt, alone, will cause the menu bar to appear, and if you prefer to go in that way it would be ALT+T,A

From there you should be able to access the options/settings for your various add-ons, enable/disable them, or remove them.

Re: entering in passwords

If someone is in a private place such as home and noone can hear what is being typed, there's no harm in this feature.

Brian,   I agree fully with you.   but if folks want the addon it is up
to them.   i don't want to type my password in and have it spoken but on
android I do because of the touch screen.
