thanks so much for your test.
i told that libreoffice 5.2 and 5.3 have issues accessibility and the
problems are only for calc.
did you compare calc in 5.1 with 5.2?
i realy wish that is the problem for accessibility of calc still persist in 5.4?

i again send the bug which i reported about problems of calc for you
to read and tell me your observation.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108474
i reported this bug and explaned the detail.

Hi,

First of all, I don't agree that LibreOffice 5.x are not accessible for
screen readers, because the problems are just a handful.

Unfortunately, all the issues I described in this group are still
present in 5.4,

The most annoying is that frequently NVDA simply stops working.
Strangely enough, ALT TABbing to other applications shows that NVDA is
still working. To bypass this, it's necessary to restart the screen reader.

Best regards,

Walmir.

Hey guys!

Same here!

Edge is not ready for prime time yet for some time! LOL! There is not any reason to use Edge yet, unless you want to play with it to see how accessible it is getting like I like to do. I am always testing for accessibility for you guys! I am still trying to work with the Groove app, but it is not that accessible yet for arranging your music the way you want.

I think that Internet Explorer will be around for a year, perhaps two.  Accessibility is improving with Edge but I don't think Microsoft will stop security updates for Internet Explorer until accessibility with Edge is good.  Also, I question whether Edge will have any meaningful advantages over Firefox or Chrome.  Unless you are just curious and want to play with Edge, it is probably a much better idea to use one or both of these other browsers.

It seems that if text is on a web site with its class set to screen-reader-text, firefox and the latest version of NVDA display that text as one compound word. It does not do this with IE. This is under windows 7. I've yet to try 10.

The results of this bug can be seen on pages like http://lanesaudio.com/examples where both the wordpress theme used, and a tip about playing the audio on that page exists and is read with NVDA but not shown on screen.

Gene,

You are absolutely correct.  I could go off on a rant about how rude it is to post replies to topics where one has not caught up on all existing replies before doing so, but I won't.  There is a reason why threaded view in e-mail clients is generally the default, and has been for some time now.

Re: NVDA and Google Chrome

Travis Siegel <tsiegel@...>

It does indeed claim the control shift b hides or unhides the bookmarks bar, but that doesn't set focus to said bookmarks bar, for that, you either need to use control-f6, or control-shift-f6 depending on whether you are going forward or backward through the list.

However, a more direct, and much more useful keystroke is control-shift-o, which does open the bookmark manager, which is most likely what most folks would expect when trying to get to the bookmarks.

So, while your control-shift-b command does exist in chrome, it doesn't actually bring you to your bookmarks, merely hides or unhides the bookmarks bar, which you still need to navigate to in order to do anything with it.  The keystroke most likely needed in this particular instance is control-shift-o, which opens the bookmarks manager, where you can add, remove, and access all of your bookmarks, which is more like the bookmark functionality in other browsers that is usually accessed with the control-b functionality.

I'd have to bring my Windows 7 machine online and update to the latest Chrome.  I almost never use that machine online so it may have been added recently.  If so, no one on the list has mentioned it so the command appears to be almost unknown, if it is present.  In my version of Chrome, which is a number of months old, that command does nothing.

Also, I did an Internet search a few months ago looking for such a command and I found no command.  So if it is present, it evidently is a recent addition.

1. I went to the view menu with alt V.

I shut the computer down to go do something else. When I came back, the

Re: Issue with NVDA 2017.1, and Outlook 2016

Ralph Boersema

The problem I presented some days ago is very similar to Julia’s. It is only with one  folder. When I reset that folder view (performed for me by a sighted person and with NVDA turned off), it works correctly either for a while or until I try to modify the view by setting it to not use groups. I say that one option could be that it only works for a while, because, when I went to the NVDA menu to find out what version I had, I could also no longer navigate it in the usual way. I actually have more navigation problems than what Julia mentions, but I don’t have time to try to identify everything that’s going wrong. Some have to do with modifying view settings or views. In trying to resolve the problem, however, I suggest concentrating on the issue Julia raises. I updated to NVDA 2017.2, but the problem remains. I did not try restarting Outlook or Windows 10 after the update.

Subject: [nvda] Issue with NVDA 2017.1, and Outlook 2016

Hi All,

I am working through an issue with NVDA 2017.1, and Outlook 2016.

When arrowing through a list of messages, NVDA does not read as I arrow past. Silence ensues, however, visually, I am able to use the up/down arrows as expected.

The pains, except folder pain, are turned off.

The fix is to set group by to received, and then I am able to read the message list as expected. NVDA, of course, is more verbose with this setting, as it reads the group by, date, from, subject, and date again.

Any other tips or suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Julia Aguilar

Well, try creating an issue on github.

Cheers.

I would like to suggest adding a key label feature to NVDA similar to
the function in Window Eyes.
Thanks

Re: new messages keep going to the bottom in thunderbird

I think you want asending.

I've done that twice already. HHere are the steps I took.
1. I went to the view menu with alt V.
2. I arrowed down to "date" and it was checked.
3. I then arrowed down to "descending" and hit enter on it to check it. I shut the computer down to go do something else. When I came back, the new messages were on the bottom again. Maybe there might be something else I need to check or set.
I just wanted to let you know the steps I took.

Try changing the sort under the Thunderbird view menu.

Hi, everyone,

Whenever I go back into thunderbird after doing something else, I have to keep sorting the messages so the new ones will go to the top like I had them. Is there a setting I might need to change in thunderbird?

Thanks in advance.
