hi

I hope we soon have the ability to using global and app specific settings, ability to rename or relabel any object with object navigator, and change the roll or class of any object relabel objects using tooltips if desired, like a jaws graphics labeler and reclassing dialog and autolabeler rolled into one thing. custom object packs could be shared among NVDA users to make apps more accessible without learning python code.

Re: "Unknown"

It sounds as though the mouse is being moved to the line that NVDA is speaking.  We don't know what programs that is being done in.  If that is what is being done, I don't know why unknown is heard.  If that's all that happens, and if things work as expected, while you may want to report it as you did here, it sounds like a minor annoyance that, unless more information is given, doesn't affect performance.  Is that correct?

In the steps, you need to pick a folder where all your music is for uploading.

There is a button that says add folder, but in vane I can't get anything to happen when trying to click on this button. I've tried, enter, space, NVDA key +enter, even left clicking, nothing seems to be working.

What is really needed is an undo last change. as work is underway to make all the settings in nvda appear as one dialogue with tabs then this might well be something to consider at this time, ie save and exit or exit witout saving.

The default is for NVDA to save settings on exit. So control NVDA key c to save the configuration is redundant. However. I believe that save settings on exit shouldn't be on by default and that it is better not to use it. If you have it on, you may be experimenting with settings and accidentally save settings you don’t want to save when you close the program. I believe that saving settings should require an action on the users part. If you turn this setting off, then control NVDA key c will have to be used when you change a setting and want to save it permanently.

To change the setting, open the NVDA menu with NVDA key n.
Down arrow to preferences and press enter. This is a submenu. You are on general settings. Press enter. Tab once, as I recall, to a check box that says save settings on exit and uncheck it with the space bar. Then tab to and activate the ok button. The dialog will close. Permanently save the setting with control NVDA key C.

Now you can experiment as much as you want with settings and nothing will be permanently saved.

Hi,

I did a similar search yesterday typing in the phrase VLC media player
help
and they do have a wiki with all of their documentation there including
a
table listing all of the available hot keys. Since it is an open source
project, some of the writing is dated, I believe that one of the files
was
last updated as far back as 2011 with no updates since then though. The
program itself, uses the classic windows graphic user interface and as
you
arrow through the menus, the corresponding keyboard shortcuts are
presented
to you so if push comes to shove, you can with a degree of patience
create
your own custom sheet tailored to your needs.

You might also want to search for things like VLC help or VLC manual.

I consider the default save on exit setting to be a really bad default

hi

look for the following settings under the browse mode settings called
Audio
indication of focus and browse modes and uncheck this box, then tab down
to
the ok button then press the enter key.

instead of sounds now you will hear browse mode and focus mode that is
what
all of my machines are set to.

I have now installed the latest snapshot,

nvda_snapshot_next-14168,fb78b7e9.  I still get the edit boxes saying

unavailable but now when I hit enter on them NVDA gives me the error sound.

Re: NVDA says Edit box unavailable and Getting Mode Messages Spoken

If you don't save settings you have changed with control NVDA key c before closing the program, when you reopen the program, the old settings will be used.  If you tell NVDA not to save settings on exit, you won't loose any settings you have changed in this session or in any future session until you close the program without manually saving the changes you made in that session first.  If you want to try a different synthesizer and don't save settings automatically on exit, you can try it and the synthesizer you were using before will be used when you run the program again.  If you want to use different puncctuation settings and not have them be permanent, they won't be if you don't manually save them.  Who knows what people might want to change temporarily and don't want to accidentally change.

I consider the default save on exit setting to be a really bad default setting.  It's an excellent example of too much automation that easily may have adverse effects on users.

You don't need to restart NVDA. Just uncheck "save settings on exit" and tab to ok. Hit space bar on it and save the settings with NVDA control C. Why do you need to restart NVDA?

The
program itself, uses the classic windows graphic user interface and as
you
arrow through the menus, the corresponding keyboard shortcuts are
presented
to you so if push comes to shove, you can with a degree of patience
create
your own custom sheet tailored to your needs.

to
the web site. In the case of popular programs, there is often a good
deal
of material that has nothing to do with the web site. So don't do

You might also want to search for things like VLC help or VLC manual.
You

Microsoft Word add-on was one. Also features of a program called
vTurbo were also added. Windows 10 App Essentials add-on gets some
features added to NVDA every release.

I think the Profile Dictionary add-on that is being circulated will
also be incorporated into NVDA. The Phone Operation Helper add-on has
similar features to those in Next snapshots. There are many more.

Also, you appear to be assuming the the feature is available with
the add on. the description of the program doesn't say that more
playback commands are available. It only says that you can move
back and forward in playback commands by tabbing and shift tabbing.
Unless you have other information, that doesn't indicate whether

Perhaps you can't. If you look at

That doesn't mean that they are not available, someone may give the

Hi all,
I use NVDA 30 percent more, because of these add ons.
Here are my favorite add ons, and I explain why!
Here is the list!
NVDA add ons I love the most and why.
I want to share with all of you, which add ons really impress me
the most, and the ones I am getting the most use out of by using
them.
Number One:
Clip Contents Designer; Status: running; Version: 3.5; Author:
Noelia Ruiz Martínez <nrm1977@...
<mailto:nrm1977@...>
I very often want to copy some material, and append more
material to the clipboard. I do this a lot to edit and create
tutorials.
I love this add on, and it helps me a lot. Thank you!
Number two:
Clipspeak; Status: running; Version: 1.0; Author: Damien
Sykes-Lindley <damien@...
<mailto:damien@...> > 2 of
17
It gives me such peace of mind to hear what I have on the clip
board, before I paste it somewhere. Thank you!
Number three:
Enhanced Aria; Status: running; Version: 1.3-dev; Author: Jose
Manuel Delicado <jmdaweb@... <mailto:jmdaweb@...>
I can now use two great TV web sites to stream movies and TV
shows, because this add on lets me access the ARIA That I need to
enjoy these streaming web sites. Thank you!
Number four:
Golden Cursor moves the mouse with the keyboard; Status: running;
Version:
1.0-dev; Author: Salah Atair <atair1978@...
<mailto:atair1978@...> >, Wafeeq Taher 5 of 17 I want all
to know how much I use this add on. Here is an example.
My wife will move the mouse pointer to a place that I cannot find.
I can then press a command to hear what pixel position the mouse
pointer is on.
I
can save that pixel position, and my wife never has to put the
mouse pointer there again. I just press a command, and it brings
up all saved mouse pointer positions that I have saved. I label
my saved pixel positions, like fast forward in Groove, for
example. I can open the list of saved pixel positions, and arrow
to that Groove button, and press enter, and the actual mouse
pointer goes right there.
Sometimes, you cannot get the mouse pointer to route to where the
review cursor is located, and with one time of sighted
assistance, you can save the pixel position where the sighted
person put the mouse pointer, and you can go back there yourself from then on.
Thank you very much, and I pray you keep developing and
supporting this add on!
Number five:
Lambda math editor addon; Status: running; Version: 1.1.8-dev;
Author:
Alberto Zanella <lapostadialberto@...
<mailto:lapostadialberto@...> > 6 of 17 This add on, has
allowed me to tutor highr math concepts on my on line math
tutoring business to sighted people.
I am getting access to more hier math topics, and I can use this
add on to read the other person's work when they send it back to
me. Thank you!
Number six:

<llajta2012@... <mailto:llajta2012@...> > 7 of 17
This add on has saved me so much time every day. Many times a
day, I put a place marker somewhere that I will return to later.
This is the place marker feature in JAWS. Thank you! This saves
me a lot of time.
Number Seven
I absolutely love this add on. Many times, I am in a program when
I want to here the version of the application. I really missed
doing thiswith JAWS.
Now, I can use this feature with NVDA. Thank you!
Number Eight:
Speak Passwords; Status: running; Version: 1.0; Author: Tyler

navigation, but I can get access to text and more on the screen
so quickly with this add on! Thank you!
VLC Media Player; Status: running; Version: 1.2; Author: Javi

17 I love using VLC Media Player. This add on, allows me to tab

others Thank you Joseph! I have used this add on to get much more
accessibility in universal apps, the start area, settings app,

17
I use the Windows 10 calculator all of the time. I do scientific
calculations with it many times a day. This add on has really
helped me a lot. Thank You!
This is it!
The summary, is that many features of JAWS are in these add ons.
NVDA is much more powerful with these add ons, and I appreciate
all of your time and work to make these add ons, and do all that
you do for the NVDA community.
I
now use NVDA 90 percent of the time, because of these add ons.
They have really made a difference, and I want you all to know!

Microsoft Word add-on was one. Also features of a program called vTurbo were
also added. Windows 10 App Essentials add-on gets some features added to
NVDA every release.

I think the Profile Dictionary add-on that is being circulated will also be
incorporated into NVDA. The Phone Operation Helper add-on has similar
features to those in Next snapshots. There are many more.

The Windows 10 add on is a way to get features to users as quickly as
possible.
Then, many are added to NVDA over time. It seldom, if ever, happens
that features are added from other add ons.

Okay!

That is why the VLC add on is so important then. With the add on,
you can tab to all controls that people can see, as far as I know.
Why do some not want to use the add on?

You won't hear anything about where you are tabbing to without the
add on.

Just open VLC, and start tabbing a lot. You will tab to them and you
can press NVDA+Enter to activate many buttons on the screen without
going into any menus!

Also, you appear to be assuming the the feature is available with
the add on. the description of the program doesn't say that more
playback commands are available. It only says that you can move
back and forward in playback commands by tabbing and shift tabbing.
Unless you have other information, that doesn't indicate whether and
what other commands may be available than in the play menu.

Perhaps you can't. If you look at

https://www.vlchelp.com/vlc-media-player-shortcuts/

you will not see either of these listed as shortcut keys in the
program.
That doesn't mean that they are not available, someone may give the
information, but it raises the question of whether these settings
can be changed from the keyboard.

Pascal, you are so welcome. I personally use all of these add ons

They greatly enhance the NVDA experience, and they allow you to do

I wanted to give these awesome NVDA add on developers some input

Have a great one, Pascal!

Subject: [nvda] My Favorite NVDA add ons and Why!

Hi all,
I use NVDA 30 percent more, because of these add ons.
<mailto:nrm1977@...>
I very often want to copy some material, and append more
material to the clipboard. I do this a lot to edit and create
tutorials.
I love this add on, and it helps me a lot. Thank you!
Number two:
Clipspeak; Status: running; Version: 1.0; Author: Damien
Sykes-Lindley <damien@...
<mailto:damien@...> > 2 of
17
It gives me such peace of mind to hear what I have on the clip
board, before I paste it somewhere. Thank you!
Number three:
Enhanced Aria; Status: running; Version: 1.3-dev; Author: Jose
Manuel Delicado <jmdaweb@... <mailto:jmdaweb@...>
I can now use two great TV web sites to stream movies and TV
shows, because this add on lets me access the ARIA That I need to
enjoy these streaming web sites. Thank you!
Number four:
Golden Cursor moves the mouse with the keyboard; Status: running;
I label my
saved pixel positions, like fast forward in Groove, for example. I
can open the list of saved pixel positions, and arrow to that
Groove button, and press enter, and the actual mouse pointer goes
right there.
Sometimes, you cannot get the mouse pointer to route to where the
review cursor is located, and with one time of sighted assistance,
you can save the pixel position where the sighted person put the
mouse pointer, and you can go back there yourself from then on.
Thank you very much, and I pray you keep developing and supporting
this add on!
Number five:
Lambda math editor addon; Status: running; Version: 1.1.8-dev;

Many times a day,
I put a place marker somewhere that I will return to later. This
is the place marker feature in JAWS. Thank you! This saves me a
lot of time.

text and more on the screen so quickly with this add on! Thank
you!
VLC Media Player; Status: running; Version: 1.2; Author: Javi
Dominguez <fjavids@... <mailto:fjavids@...> > 14 of

asks me about the weather. and I simply press NVDA+Shift+W and get
the forcast.

others Thank you Joseph! I have used this add on to get much more
accessibility in universal apps, the start area, settings app, and
other places. This add on has allowed me to use many of the win10
universal apps for a long time!
Thank you!
Number Thirteen:
Windows 10 Calculator; Status: running; Version: 1.0; Author:
Joseph Lee <joseph.lee22590@...
<mailto:joseph.lee22590@...> > 17 of
