Re: announcement of levels and such

That has nothing to do with formatting.  That is because you are in a tree view and you have created mailboxes within the level for other mail boxes.  It's like an outline.  this kind of notification shouldn't, and I don't think it can, be stopped.  You either have to redo your folder structure, having everything on the same level, or you have to simply keep moving down and if you move down, the level announcements will not be fully spoken. As soon as you move, the announcement will stop.  Perhaps others know of writings or tutorial sections that explain tree views and how to work with them and of information that explains how to control what levels folders are on when you create them in e-mail program tree views.  This is a question of a structure in Windows and has nothing to do with documents.

I don't know how you learned Windows but there may be some or many aspects of Windows structures you didn't learn properly and you might benefit significantly by a study of Windows basics.  The Hadley School, from what I've heard, has free material available on the subject.  I'll let others discuss other sources.  If Windows isn't learned in a systematic way, people very often don't learn information that would benefit them significantly.

Important advisory for today's next snapshot: if using Windows 10, disable OCR add-on

Hi everyone,

The following advisory from the add-ons community is for people using NVDA next snapshots on Windows 10:

Due to UWP OCR feature introduced in today’s next snapshot, please disable OCR add-on if you are on Windows 10 and using next snapshots. This is because NVDA+R is now a native NVDA command to recognize text on screen using a chosen OCR engine.

Cheers,

Try unchecking the checkbox called "Report object position" in the object presentation dialogue. This will also mean that you will not be informed of listview item position, desktop shortcut position, etc. Your best bet is to create a profile for Thunderbird specifically and only make the change for that profile, should you wish to hear position info for other scenarios.

I hope we soon have the ability to using global and app specific settings, ability to rename or relabel any object with object navigator, and change the roll or class of any object relabel objects using tooltips if desired, like a jaws graphics labeler and reclassing dialog and autolabeler rolled into one thing. custom object packs could be shared among NVDA users to make apps more accessible without learning python code.

Hi I have messages in my outlook inbox going back to yesterday at about 12:00 P.M and when I am going through my messages list in my inbox.

It doesn’t read that part of my list in outlook.

But if I used control end I can read from the bottom up but if I use control home and try to read fomr the top down it doesn’t read anything. So

Why is that and how do I correct it?

I have shut down and restarted NVDA and that didn’t change it.

Jaws has no problem with this.

I am running windows home and outlook 2016 if that helps any.

Re: "Unknown"

Gene

It sounds as though the mouse is being moved to the line that NVDA is speaking.  We don't know what programs that is being done in.  If that is what is being done, I don't know why unknown is heard.  If that's all that happens, and if things work as expected, while you may want to report it as you did here, it sounds like a minor annoyance that, unless more information is given, doesn't affect performance.  Is that correct?
