Re: Footnotes in Word Documents

Quentin Christensen

I prefer calling it the context menu key, but everyone else calls it applications key so I defer to that.  Either way, on a full size keyboard, it is usually the key to the left of the right control key.  Some keyboards have two windows key and some only have one.  Laptops might have the applications key in a random place, or not at all.  If your keyboard doesn't have one, you can simulate it with shift+f10.

Which version of Word are you using?  In recent versions of Word, it's alt+s then H, and you can arrow through or press control+down arrow to jump from one footnote to the next.  You can get back by pressing the applications key and then G for 'Go to footnotes".

Re: Turning on NVDA when Signing in as a Different User

Quentin Christensen

Depening on when NVDA was installed and the second account, CONTROL+ALT+N may or may not work (I'd try it first).

You should be able to press the windows key, type NVDA and press enter to run it though as it is an installed program.  You can then create the shortcut if needed and set whether NVDA should start automatically for that account (in NVDA's general settings from the NVDA preferences menu).

Kind regards

Quentin.

'automatically start NVDA when I long-on to Windows' is also checked for
each user account you use.  This will ensure NVDA will always be available.

Dear List, this is probably a stupid question.  If I have NVDA installed on
a machine and set to start after login with that user.  If i then sign out
and sign in as a different user how do I get NVDA going within that user.
Does the control alt n hot key work.

Many Thanks, Lee

EdgeWave spam filter

Don H

In the middle of switching my Internet and Email provider.

Had issues with dealing with a Spam filter service they apply to their Email servers. The name of the company providing the spam filtering is called EdgeWave. The web page for dealing with what they think is spam doesn't seem to be too screen reader friendly to say the least.

Anyone else delt with this spam filter provider and have any tips to deal with their web page showing blocked messages?

Thanks

Copying And Pasting Images

Hello:
Please does any member of this group have ideas on how to copy and
paste images? Actually, i have a website, and visitors don't visit it
because there no graphics on it. Even when I post ads on facebook
groups, the ads are removed by facebook on the grounds that they are
spam, and I believe they do this, because there are no images.
So, please give me tips on how to copy images. I have some amazon
products on my web pages, but they have no images because I can't copy
and paste them.
Hope to read from you chaps.

Replicator is working fine here on Windows 10 Creator’s Update.  I had not problem either with the install or execution and it seems to work just in the same way as it always has. It is a little odd that it is not working on your Windows 8. Could it be that your install version is possibly corrupted?

It might be worth re-downloading.

Re: Turning on NVDA when Signing in as a Different User

Chris Mullins

To get NVDA to speak on the log-in screen, you need to have a user account
with administrator priviliges then open the the NVDA menu with NVDA+n, press
p for preferences, then g for General. Tab down to 'Use NVDA on log-in
screen'. And check it. Each user has it's own profile, ensure
'automatically start NVDA when I long-on to Windows' is also checked for
each user account you use. This will ensure NVDA will always be available.

Cheers
Chris

Dear List, this is probably a stupid question. If I have NVDA installed on
a machine and set to start after login with that user. If i then sign out
and sign in as a different user how do I get NVDA going within that user.
Does the control alt n hot key work.

Many Thanks, Lee

Hi folks.

Subject says it all.

It was a really good program, but it doesn't seem to work in windows 8
anymore.

That's true. I check the spam folder at least once a month.

Unfortunately it's not a one time thing, in other words one has to continue doing that periodically. I recommend at least once a month.

This happens a lot more than most people realize and leads to all
sorts of unnecessary test messages. One needs to take a look at their
spam folder at least once a month to see what one has missed because
of the stupid spam filters in use these days and mark those messages as not spam.

Of course the web page to resolve the issue is real difficult to

Thanks to all for the help.

Re: Document Scanner

What are your exact needs and what hardware are you using to scan with?

A great many multi-function machines with document feeders come with their own scanning software that interfaces with NVDA quite well.

More detail is necessary.
