Problem downloading an add-on

Hello fellow nvda users,

I am facing an issue when trying to download the weather plus nvda add on from the nvda community addon page,

I keep getting
Can't reach this page notification

I was wondering if there was an issue with the page,
Perhaps, the page is down or having server problems,

Any feedback would be appreciated
Thank you so much

Hi everyone,

A new edition of NVDA's In-Process is up.  It features info on our new NVDA icon, no new sounds and inbuilt OCR for Windows 10.

Rather than someone send you the zip file, be a bit more independent and download a Next snapshot from a week ago, create a portable copy and go into the waves folder and listen to them. I have them on my computer. If you don’t know how to do this, ask on the group.

I think they meant that assuming no stupidity it has the potential to be accessible grin
Interesting as when I read this query my mind went to Windows embedded and point of sale ready, versions.
Certainly nvda worked well with the xp version of this in the main but as ever the apps running on a bespoke system have to be written accessibly and of course speakers need to be on the system to hear it!

Hi Group,

I got this referenced from another list.

There is an add on that allows folder navigation by typing the first letter and it is called 'quick key folder navigation.' The description says you have to type the first 3 letters, but if you only have one folder that begins with the letter key you press, then you will move right to the folder with just the first key press. I have installed this and it works great. This restores one of the favorite features for screen reader users that existed in the venerable and now largely defunct Outlook Express.

Using Thunderbird, it is easy to install this add on. Just click tools/add on manager/search for add on. Type in quick folder key navigation, press enter, then tab to the list of results, highlight the add on, right click and choose install. Then follow the prompts. There is no need to browse the Mozilla website for the add on.

Re: New sounds reverted back to old in next

Brian's Mail list account

The snag is this. When you install or update you get the old sounds back, but I think once its been put in the folder it will stay there between updates, so all you really need is to have some kind of memory through the updates and replace them thereafter again.
However I thought I read that sounds will be going to another folder eventually so the hacky add on that is there at the moment will need to be altered. Also remember the new sounds were not in Master and were never intended for the next release in any case.

Hello. Regarding the new sounds, what I'd personally like to see is the ability to configure them in the Sounds app, just as you can with other apps. In fact, the Window-Eyes screen reader also had its own section in the Sounds app for configuring sounds and this is something I'd love to see eventually in NVDA.

Thanks, all.

It's a company computer, so I can't disable the security software. Until recently, we weren't able to install anything ourselves. A couple of months ago, IT installed a utility that allows us install with elevated privileges. I've installed a couple of other things fine, but I wonder if the issue could be with this installer utility. Our in-house accessibility team suggested I try installing a portable copy on a USB drive, so that's probably my next step.

Thunderbird Add On To Allow First Letter Navigation For Folders

Ron Canazzi

Weather Plus 4.4 01.08.2017 update available

Adriano Barbieri

Hi to every one,
Changes in this version
• Added Polish translation (thanks to Zvonimir Staneczyć).
• Weather Plus it's now compatible also for future wx version 4;
Note: at the moment with wx version 4.0.0b1 msw (phoenix) generates an annoying error when using the vertical arrows in many edit boxes:
wxAssertionError: C++ assertion "Assert failure" failed at ....srccommonevtloopcmn.cpp(110) in wxEventLoopBase::Yield(): wxYield called recursively.
Weather Plus it can auto-update, but you can also download it from:
Direct download:
http://www.nvda.it/system/files/plugin/weather_plus4.4.nvda-addon?download=1
or from page:
http://www.nvda.it/weather-plus/
or from page:
https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/weatherPlus.en.html
Derek, or who for you, it is not necessary to update the link to this page.
Thanks.
Cheers
Adriano

ability to choose which sounds to use.

So we made the decision to stick with the original sounds for now and in
the longer term look at how best to add the ability to change sounds,
perhaps similarly to the way addons work.

So the short answer is yes, we've reverted to the old sounds and that is
what will be in 2017.3, but it doesn't mean we've abandoned the idea.

we can't download these, yes I am perfectly aware we can have audiothemes
addons and such but we need a way to download soundpacks, and have
schemes,
and we can choose what does what.

Obviously I don't want to many sounds when doing admin stuff but on my
own
system, well thats another story.
