Developing appmodule for specific website

Webmaster Deweer <webmaster_deweer@...>

Dear members,

This is one of the little questions I ask here.

I’d like to ask the following: is it possible to develop a appmodule or something similar to that for one specific website, like in JAWS?

Thanks in advance!

Best wishes,

Jordy

Hi Chris:

If I am not mistaken, some spam filters look for certain key words in
the subject line and these messages are considered to be spam if the
subject line contains one or more of such words.

Wow this AddON sounds interesting! What else does it allow you to do? For instance does it allow like with the iPhone, to mark each message as you arrow down or up, for their deletion at once, rather than as I do now, holding the space while pressing Control+arrows to select several to then delete?

Another interesting addon is Select Inbox.

This one sets focus on the first unread message when you open Thunderbird.

In its options, you can decide if you want to open on the first unread, simply the first message etc.

Hi if I have like A hole two days worth of messages in my inbox.

And I go to the top of the message list in my inbox.

NVDA won’t read but if I hit the end key it will read the buttom meaning the last message in the list and then I can up arrow for A while and read some of them.

But if I hit the home key and then want to down arrow to read the messages from the top of the inbox down it won’t read them.

So why is this happening?

And how do you correct it?

When using the x key to go to the next check box Before this latest update I thought it said checkbox followed by the title of the checkbox. Now with this latest version it says the title first followed by the checkbox and its status. Did I imagine this or have things changed?

Ron,

Are these "split groups" primarily for messages coming through an e-mailing list?  If so I have an answer as to the cause, but there is not really a cure.

Hi Group,

I got this referenced from another list.

There is an add on that allows folder navigation by typing the first
letter and it is called 'quick key folder navigation.' The
description says you have to type the first 3 letters, but if you only
have one folder that begins with the letter key you press, then you
will move right to the folder with just the first key press. I have
installed this and it works great. This restores one of the favorite
features for screen reader users that existed in the venerable and now largely defunct Outlook Express.

Using Thunderbird, it is easy to install this add on. Just click
tools/add on manager/search for add on. Type in quick folder key
navigation, press enter, then tab to the list of results, highlight
the add on, right click and choose install. Then follow the prompts.
There is no need to browse the Mozilla website for the add on.

Problem With Thunderbird And grouping Messages By Conversation

Ron Canazzi

Hi Group,

I started this accidentally in another thread, but I thought it sufficiently far afield to start a new thread on it.

I do indeed see the group by conversation item. But when I choose it, unlike other mail programs, I get those messages with the same subject line grouped in sub groups rather than in one group. By this I mean that for example, if I have a conversation that starts out as 'problem with latest Windows ten download and then 19 more messages with the subject line 'Re: Problem with latest windows ten download' that I have say 3 groups of the messages: one with 6 messages, one with 9 messages and one with 5 messages--rather than the whole group being put in a single 20 message thread. I have never been able to figure out what settings to change to have them grouped as they would be in Outlook Express or Windows Mail--with all such messages in a thread in one single 20 message group.

Hi,

some months ago I had same question. unfortunately I did not get a setisfied answer. I tried Bamboo feed reader and other but noone did not me allow to work with RSS feeds in FF as I worked with them in IE.

And what is wrong with IE now? IE is simply becoming outdated and unstable.

So if anyone knows a good addon for rss or as FF terminology says "live bookmarks", I would very appretiate it.
I mean a good addon which can emulate an IE layout and can benefit of FF strenth.

Re: NVDA In-Process

Good question.

The NVDA logo is different to the NV Access logo for several reasons.  Firstly, while NVDA is our main product and what we are known for, keeping the identity of the program separate to the identity of the company gives us scope to branch out into other projects in the future.

Secondly the NV Access logo is relatively complex, making it harder to shrink to something which is easily distinguishable in say a system tray icon.  The NVDA logo is described in the blog.  The NV Access logo will be described on the new site when it's live, for now it's in the e-mail I send out to certified experts.  Essentially it is a sunburst shape - like pointy sun with 16 points, inside that is a diamond with a circle in the middle.  The colours are purple, orange and turquoise.

Its not a big issue as such but if it can be done then it should be, for advertising purposes again I don't care but if we have a graphic logo then it should be easy enough to have it in an icon and that be shipped with the app.

Re: NVDA In-Process

The original icon was dark grey, which worked well on Windows XP which had a light taskbar / system tray.  Newer windows versions have moved to a darker taskbar / system tray making the icon very low contrast against it.  The new icon retains the overall logo shape but now in white on a purple background ensuring it will be just as visible no matter what background colour it is shown against.  Not the most important aspect of the program for most users certainly, but a tweak which both makes it look more modern and also fits in with the branding refresh we are undertaking a well.

Hi Ron,

you do not need an addon to group messages by topic, TB can do that by default. I use it in German, so I can't tell you where exactly you will find the option. Translated in English you find the option in the menu View, there in "Sort by" and there one of the last points is Sort by topic.

thanks gene.
i wish that dont hear punctuation and only hear full number after dot
like versions of programs and number digit in phone numbers.
i set punctuation to none for not hearing any of punctuations when
reading documents!
about version numbers which have dot, i tested with all kind of
reporting punctuation (non, some, most and all and none of them worked
for me.

context and read in this way automatically.

like the version of espeak which i told i wish that hear for example:
1. 49 not 1. 4 9!
what should i do to nvda says 49 instead of 4 9 in such cases?
also about phone numbers and sales number i completely agree.
phone number also i accept both digit and pare number and cant
memorize the hole number in that case!

I meant to cover this in my last message. the reason NVDA doesn't try to
do
too much number processing like that, is there are so many different ways
of writing numbers and people would like different numbers read
differently.

For instance, phone numbers are often easier to take in as individual
digits (5 5 5 6 7 8 9 0), but the number of sales made last month makes
more sense read as a whole number: 55567890.

As a human, reading text, it is easy to tell which type a number is and
how
you would prefer it read, but without a lot of computing power, it's not
so
easy for NVDA.

This is the same reasoning why words such as "live", "read", "wind" and
"lead" are always pronounced the same, even though each has two meanings,
each pronounced differently. For the logophiles in the audience, these
are
called heteronyms or heterophones.

Now I've exhausted my dictionary, I'll leave it there (and I never even
got
to non-English languages or other cultural ways of writing numbers).

hello every one.
i wish that hear number full number in all cases.
but i cant in some cases.
for example: in some numbers which have dot, nvda reads the numbers
digit instead of full!

what should i do in previous versions of nvda about numbers?
for example about version of espeak nvda says: 1. 4 8. 1 5
i wish that hear 1. 48. 15
i mean for numbers have dot, nvda says digit numbers not complete
numbers!
1. 6 3 8 9 1
instead of 1. 63891
God bless you all and i pray for you sincerely every day.
