Hi Joseph

I was sure 100 percent i was using the stable version but when i looked
under the add on manager it said it was a developers version. I
uninstalled it then went and got the stable version and installed it and
it is all back to normal.

I just notice when i went to do a search on my windows 10 computer it does
not seem to go into focus mode to type in your search. This is using nvda
2017.2 and the very latest win essentials. I am using the stable version of
that add on.

Also if any thing did come up as mentioned there was no sound and i do not
hink any results.

I disabled the add on and every ting goes back to normal. I can put in
the search and it comes up results.

can any one else come up with the same results? put the add on back on

Okay, I'll make this official: anyone using NVDA 2017.2, please use stable
version of Windows 10 App Essentials until NVDA 2017.3 is released, as
current add-on development snapshots contain code that'll not work in

NVDA itself, starting from version 2017.3. In other words, I am the

Re: Win10 Essentials: NO sounds or Suggestions

I got lost in this somewhere.
I've never had that sound that I can recall when hitting the start
button. I used 2017.2 fora short while, but each time I used firefox
and I switched to a different window and back to the browser it would
have focus mode switched to on. I would even try to hit escape or NVDA
and spacebar to toggle it off. The only way I could go back to using
firefox again was to restart the entire program. It didn't do that to
me with Chrome, just firefox. I downgraded to 2017.1 and had kept the
app updated.

Today when I updated the addon (I have it look for updates) it started
doing the same thing to me again. So I have 2017.1 and the latest
build of app essentials. Should I install one of the latest snapshots
of NVDA or try to find a downgrade from the current version of app
essentials to fix this problem?

sorry for not creating a new thread regarding this, but I thought it
might be related some how since Gene had mentioned his issue with
forms mode being wonky.

Re: Suggestion: Switch from Email List to a Forum

Antony Stone

I would have no objection to changing the list to a forum provided that:

a) it remains possible for those who prefer email to continue to both send and
receive messages by email

b) it remains possible to search an archive of the list/forum so that people
who have questions in the future which have already been answered have a
chance of finding that answer through Google etc

I would most definitely not be in favour of moving from a mailing list to a
forum if that requires everybody to log in to a web page and look there for
any new messages.

I have found that it doesn't work well in windows 10 anymore. It does not replicate the creation of folders within folders any more and simply labels them as errors.

I also use Allway sync. Originally I used it for syncing some folders between my desktop and sd cards. It will create folders and delete folders in both directions as necessary. You can create as many jobs as you like and run them all or one at a time. I have now moved the items I used in Karen's over to Allway Sync. The things in Karen's was set to run nightly to update my backup drive with the days changes (the backup drive syncs to off-site backup).

Allway sync has been around for a very long time (XP) and I did pay for the license to allow me to use as many files as I want (for backup jobs there are enough free files to let you try it out well before purchasing). The developer is very helpful and even sent me a new license when it was lost in one of my moves to a new computer. The license is forever and there are updates occasionally.

And since I didn't specifically mention it. It is accessible.

I agree as well.  I would prefer to stay with the email list as well, I personally find it much easier.

Don't think so. Heat forms. Don't like anything that makes me go to the web when I can get it in my email. All it requires is for people to have a little bit of discipline and keep threads on topic. Much more efficient this way in my opinion.

Re: Suggestion: Switch from Email List to a Forum

No I like email but then I am at home a lot doing work.

WHat I find with forums is I only read what interests me which is fine but forums have the added issue of multiple spams they are harder to secure to.

Email and the skype group are enough but if people think we can do with a forum to go and try it.

The only one that worked is audiogames.net and even they have had hackers, spam and the like.

When I was doing work on sonnar we had a forum, I was removing spam and blocking users daily, eventually it got so bad I was doing it all day long.

Eventually after trying different forum software we just deleted the forum because it was to stressfull.

Re: NVDA Performance on Remote Access

Hi Raghu

both computers must have a copy of nvda on them and they both will have to have the nvda remote add on installed. If you go down this track make sure you grab the latest version of the add on as it also has braille support etc.

Otherwise it works well. I use it a bit to help out others who have nvda installed plus the add on if asked.

Hi List,

How does NVDA performs during remote access?

Do both machines need to have NVDA running during remote access?

Hoping your answers.

Thanks
