Another list member suggested using a different e-mail program.  the message you are getting is because Outlook is crashing and you get that message every time.  The most likely explanation is that there is something in the update of Windows that is causing the problem.  I haven't used the Windows 10 app and I don't know if it is your best option.

One possibility is to try running Outlook in compatibility mode.  I don't know enough about it to comment further but that is probably the first thing to try.

If that fails, you may want to consider other programs.  If you are using a POP3 account, the Windows 10 app doesn't support POP3.  You will have to use IMAP.  I don't know enough about IMAP to comment on it.

I can tell you that if you are using POP and want to continue using it, you can use either Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail.

Is there any reason you are using Outlook or are you just using it because you have useed it for a long time?

Dear all,

I have just managed to update my window 10 creaters update as my turn came as I did check the version and it did happen from 1603 to 1703

I know very little but am learning.

Now the only problem I am encountering is that when I open my outlook to read my emails, it lets me read few and stops by saying that Microsoft has encountered a problem and will notify me if the solution is found. Press alt c to cancel

I then have to keep restarting my outlook again and again as it lets me read few more and cuts off.

I am still using Microsoft office 2003

All else is working fine.

Please I do not know what Gene and Rosmary are talking about installing and un installing this stable version

If that is my problem, can someone help me with step by step instructions please.

I hope the above does make sense in explaining myself.

Thanking you all again.

There is a way you can make this change but I don't know what it is.  And what does it matter?  the setting is changed when you make it instead of when you activate the ok button.  But what does it matter either way?

Dear Gene,

Please Gene, as I have explained that I lack technical knowledge and carry on the basics that I know to enjoy going on my computer.

How can I try running Outlook in compatibility mode?  I do not know even how to go back to 1603 and was feeling very proud to have successfully upgraded to 1703

Also I do not think I will know how to change from outlook as I have been on it from day one.

Hope you will be able to help.

Thank you all so much.

Plus friends, if I do not reply instantly , I apologise as I am not quick with my actions. I will however come back always

Thank you

Hello all,

Stephanie, thank you for posting your interest. Somewhat like you and Tony, I would like to learn how to code and think NVDA may be a good excuse.

Would those of us novices like to work together and would any of the experts feel like being our guides?

I am proposing a sort of subgroup or informal self driven course to keep us motivated and emotionally supported.

Any takers?

Thanks again, Stephanie, for getting us out of the woodwork,

Cheers,
Sally

I do a lot of basic web surfing and I have came to the conclusion that Internet Explorer is well past its prime. So many different sites work very poorly with IE. With NVDA support of Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome I am finding it quite easy to stop using IE all together. Of course there is Firefox as well but I am seeing all my needs met with Edge and Chrome.

Hi Sakina,

If you are using malware bytes on your system, and the version is prior to version 3.1.2, try to update that and see if things work.  I cannot promise that they will though. If not, you may have to either migrate to a different email client such as windows live mail or Mozilla thunderbird which supports both the IMAP and Pop3 protocols; or  roll windows 10 back to version 16.07 and hope that gets outlook 2003 working again. Keep us posted on things are going.

Hi Chris,

The keystrokes are a bit different.  Control + Shift + D opens the download interface.  Control + L is used to open a address.  Control + O opens a file on your system.  The F6 key toggle and the alt + D for address bar does not work.Although it doesn't say so under settings or I don't see it there, Control+ K opens the default search bar as in Firefox.

If anyone else tries out this browser and can figure out just how to
change settings more easily and how to get rid of the start panel that
appears at the top of every page, I would appreciate the information and
this for me would make the browser a reasonable alternative to the other
standard fare.

Didn't I specifically ask that people stop commenting on this topic?  Please do not respond to this or other messages in the thread.

Re: Vivaldi Web Browser

Is Control+d a keystroke specific to this browser?  IE, Firefox, Edge and Chrome all use alt+d for this function.

Cheers

I'll try it out on captcha at some stage, but, while the web content handling seems to work fine with NVDA, it's interface isn't my style/choice otherwise - ctrl + D is meant to highlight address bar, but, doesn't seem to work properly, for example.

Stay well

Hi NVDA Users,

Please check this browser specially made for visually impaired persons.

Up to what extend it is accessible for VI?

Is it fully compatible with NVDA?

Under Tools menue Captcha option is there.

Can we use it to solve captcha problems?

Kindly throw some light on it.

Re: Navigation keys not working #addonrelease

Also, this setting isn't saved.  If you turn off single letter navigation keys, when you unload and run NVDA again, the setting reverts to single letter navigation keys on.  But it's worth playing with the setting to see if it does change.  Then NVDA must be unloaded and run again to see if single navigation is still off.  Also, before you unload NVDA and run it again, close the browser and open it after you run NVDA again.  If you don't do so, browse mode may not function in the browser and you will get meaningless results of the test.

I'd have thought this was unlikely, but might be worth a try. I don't think
I've ever managed to do this accidentally. Of course it also depends if you
have other people using the machine.

hi.
did you press nvda+shift+space key by accident when you use your
firefox, chrome or other browsers?
when you are in such browsers, press these combination of keys and
nvda should says single letter navigation keys on if its turned off by
accident.
hope that help and God bless you!

Vivaldi Web Browser: First Impressions

Ron Canazzi

Hi Group,

With all this talk about Vivaldi web browser, I thought I would give it a try. It has promise. Quick key navigation works; the interface reminds me of Google Chrome; the text is read quite easily as in other accessible browsers such as Firefox and Internet Explorer.

There are a series of issues that make it a bit clumsy. The menus are similar to Google Chrome. There is one menu with sub menus which involve the use of the tree view type navigation system. This isn't a big problem once you get use to it. The main problem I am having is setting the browser up. The settings panel is all buttons. While the screen changes, it is difficult to keep track of the input and just what buttons to press to accept the changes. In other words, there is no OK button and you really don't know if you have successfully made a change until you close the settings panel and try the changes out.

In addition, unless there is a way to remove this and because of my difficulty with the settings panel, there might be, the browser opens with a navigation panel consisting of buttons. I would really like to get rid of this panel and have the page load normally as in other browsers.

If anyone else tries out this browser and can figure out just how to change settings more easily and how to get rid of the start panel that appears at the top of every page, I would appreciate the information and this for me would make the browser a reasonable alternative to the other standard fare.
