NVDA doesn't save voice settings when closed
Gene
I'll provide a posssible solution to your
problem. I changed the subject line because it is the same subject line as
the previous thread.
NVDA is set, by default to save
any changed setting when it closes. For some reason, yours
isn't. This may be because you changed an NVDA setting or it may be
some other problem. After you change the settings, use the command NVDA
key control c to save the settings. You would do this after you activate
the ok button. Then, see what happens when you close and run NVDA
again.

Some years ago, I asked this same question, and I was given some lines of text to write, but for the life of me, can't remember where or how, but since then, when using kurzweil1000 with NVDA, NVDA doesn't talk. I think i saved the file with a certain name, but for the life of me, can't remember how this was done.

Please start a new thread when
starting a new topic. Don't just reply to a message, change the subject
line, and leave all the extraneous completely unrelated material below the
message. The reason I say to start a new message rather than just change
the subject line is because if you do that, for technical reasons I don't know,
in the archives the message is still placed in the old thread. I don't
know what happens if people read mail on their machines by conversation.

Also, if there is an error message from Windows
related to Kurzweil such as a crash message, it will be read. And, as I
said in an earlier message, you can't use the numpad with Kurzweil if you use
the speech toggle.

The speech mode toggle has NVDA running but without
speech. therefore, the numpad keys are still used by NVDA. If you
want to use NVDA with the numpad, you have to use the sleep feature.
