Re: voice pitch not changing when capitalizing a letter
Quentin Christensen
I found the same thing. I've filed a bug on our system (https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/7514 for anyone interested). In the meantime, the workarounds I found were: - It seems to affect Microsoft OneCore and SAPI 5 voices. eSpeak at least seems to work fine for me. I'm not sure about other synthesizers. I just re-read your message though and you said eSpeak isn't working for you. - In the Voice settings dialog - press NVDA+control+v, I found that if you set "Say cap before capitals", then it reads "cap" before any capital, but it also adjusts the pitch as per the pitch change setting above that. - Also in the Voice settings dialog, there is a "beep for capitals" option which does what it claims (although it doesn't "fix" the pitch). Regards Quentin.

Re: 答复: [nvda] Firefox has updated to 56 and its broken
Gene
Another person reported yesterday that the beta is
currently 56. I looked at the release calendar and 56 is not shown for
release as a production version until sometime in September.
To see discussion about how to change the release
channel, see these two forum discussions:
and
I'm not vouching for the information but those are
two places to look. To see more possible sources of information, do a
google search for something like firefox changing update channel or for
something like fox stopping beta updates.
It
appears from the little I've read in the forums,
that since you installed an older version, you have automatically switched to
the standard update channel. Try using the search for updates in the about
dialog or look for an update button in the about dialog. You may not have
to do anything except update the current version.

Re: Firefox has updated to 56 and its broken
Gene
Why did you install 54 when that version is
old? 56 is a beta. Why not install the latest nonbeta version?
Do you want to receive betas? If a beta doesn't work properly and you want
to revert, if the last nonbeta version workxz properly, which, presumably you
had before the beta upgrade, that's the one to go back to, not an older
vulnerable to security exploits version.
Also, while you had the beta installed, looking
around at the settings regarding how the program starts would have disclosed the
problem. Perhaps there is now a setting you can change to stop whatever is
showing and causing the focus problem. You said it is broken. It may
be or it may not be. It may be showing something many sighted people may
want to see that can be turned off.

Most keyboards have two insert keys. The one on the numpad can be used for NVDA, while the one in the middle on the top row of the sixpack of keys between the keyboard and numpad can be used for other uses. Alternatively, you can use the passthrough key by pressing insert-2 which will allow you to press any key combo on the keyboard, and NVDA will ignore it and your other apps would pick up the key combination and act on it accordingly.

Re: what in the world is happening with firefox and nvda

Maybe files have been unregistered by the program
but I'd be worried that files have been removed. Does the program
quaranteen files or just remove them?
Also, does the person have system restore points
from before the problem started?
And if files have been removed that are Windows files, not just unregistered, and if no restore points are available from before the time the problem started, is there a way to repair Windows that will restore the files? I don't know enough about repairing Windows or having Windows replace missing files to comment further. Gene

nvda Hi Gene, I think I know what's happened. While at my friend's house we updated her
hitman pro antivirus to the latest version and all seemed to work well until I
went into firefox. I'm testing the same set of scenarios on my system here
at home and have gotten the exact same problems that she has. I've sent the
information on to my sighted partner and between the 2 of us we should be able
to straighten things out. We will also put together a piece on this and send it
to the folks who make the antivirus program to let them know that this happens.

Hi Tony
I know the first email from off my website that fixed my problem but it has to be done exactly the way it was sent.
The later one for windows 10 i was not aware of until i posted a attachments and jamie pointed me towards the comments on the others. I see they were for windows 7 and 8 and 10 and there were some patches but i think they were for 7 and 8?
hopefully they get it sorted. If or when it fixes it get them to save a restore point in windows.

Hey Gene, Thanks for this information mate. Because registry editing may come into play, I explained what was happening in Firefox to my partners earlier today. I've sent them the stuff you gave me and we will give the solutions a try. I'll keep you posted on how things workout. On Windows 10 (both 32 and 64 bit), also enter the following command: c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\OneCoreCommonProxyStub.dll 9. In all browsers is he saying unknown or will not speak the contents of the web page? did the page fully load try the f5 key to do this or use the nvda key + f5 key and see if it plays nicely? Does he work in microsoft edge and read out the contents? Down on the running application area on the task bar does nvda speak any of the programs there? When you hit the applications key does nvda speak any of the menus as you arrow down it? If you are running mozilla thunder bird does it say unknown as you tab into it or try to get to messages or the menus it would be the same for mozilla fire fox. When web pages come up you get the announcement that the page is up, however, nothing else works. Tabbing through the page for links, browse mode keystrokes, everything appears to be shot. Does anyone know what happened, and a fix for it if there is one? Very strange indeed. using the latest versions of both windows 10 pro and NVda. Tony --
