Depends on your settings in the preferences. You can have three settings. no update, download and alert me, or auto update. I feel the latter is a bit dangerous as Firefox does not have a roll back feature which in my opinion it needs. Brian

I think we have been here. I don't think any of the problems have been the cause thus far. Its most strange as it only seems to affect a handful of rc1 users.
Might need a log to be made as a start in debug mode. Also be interested to know if it still does it if you restart nvda with add ons disabled.

I think the point here is that both these projects are in fact based on the same code base and whereas Open office seems to have no current active development or fixes being worked on, the other does, so you are more likely to get issues resolved as the nvda devs are not going to try to find work arounds for a dead development string, but will work on Libra as the developers can be contacted as many issues need to be fixed in the code of the software, not the screenreader. I hope this is clearer for you. Brian

Re: stopping the word clickable.
How to turn off clickable was discussed later in
the thread. As far as hearing it only once is concerned, you can have
clickable on or off. It is some sort of bug that causes all these
repetitions. Either turn it off and experiment when you can't find a way
to do something but see text you think might be clickable, or turn it on when
you think you might need it and off the rest of the time.

Re: stopping the word clickable.
There is no connection between clickable and
links. Clickable items are items that may take an action when you press
enter or click on them. They aren't links. Changing whether
clickable is announced has nothing to do with how you move through links nor
what you hear when you encounter a link. But if you just turn clickable
off, there are times when you won't hear clickable when you need to activate a
clickable object to do something. Sometimes, you activate a clickable
object to play audio. sometimes, to bring up help information, sometimes
for other reasons. It isn't a good idea to have it off all the

Re: stopping the word clickable.
Screen layout has nothing to do with
clickable. Screen layout in the default setting, shows the screen layout
if it can be done. for example, if there are two or more links on one
line, they will all be shown on one line. If the setting is changed, then
links will each be shown on separate lines, one for each link.
To turn off clickable announcements, In object
navigation, tabbing around will have a check box about reporting clicable
objects and it should be changed. If its checked now, it should be
unchecked or if unchecked, it should be checked. Then tab to and activate
the ok button.
Clickable won't be reported. But there are
times when you need to know what is clickable on web pages so this setting
shouldn't be left off all the time. Especially if you are on a page and
don't see how to do something, it should be turned on.

Re: voice pitch not changing when capitalizing a letter
hi quentin. i tested sapi5 version of espeak and i dont have this problem with it. i dont like the quality of pitch changes in espeak sapi5 and set it to 0. i also set 0% pitch change in espeak normal and checked say cap before it. thanks so much and God bless you.

On 8/23/17, Quentin Christensen <quentin@nvaccess.org> wrote: Hi Jim,
NVDA has a voice settings option called "capital pitch change percentage". The idea being that as you are typing or reading letter by letter, capital letters are read in a higher (or lower) pitch to distinguish them. There are several other options for distinguishing capitals, being to beep or to read "cap", all of which can be set independently of each other.
The issue is that when using either OneCore or SAPI voices, the capital pitch change option is ignored UNLESS say cap is also checked - and then it does both.
Using eSpeak, the options all work as they should (capitals are indicated by pitch change even without say cap checked). I'm not sure about other synthesizers.
The issue I filed is: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/7514

*Subject:* Re: [nvda] voice pitch not changing when capitalizing a letter
I agree that it's when I'm proof reading that I find the beep for capitals helpful. I have a configuration profile for editing documents before I submit them anywhere, in which I have the punctuation level set to all, and slow the speed down a little, and it would be helpful to have the beep for a capital sounding as I move through the document line by line, rather than having to navigate to the specific place where there should be a capital letter so I can hear the beep as I move by character.
I don't believe the change in pitch for capitals is audible at all unless the Say Cap for Capitals seting is on. Even with it set to 100, I don't hear any change in pitch with Microsoft Zira voice without that audible Cap announcement and, for me, that's more of a distraction than it's worth when I'm editing.
