I was under the impression that Windows 10s can be upgraded to the full version for people who need more than Narrator to run due to a disability.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Of course how fast a stripped down machine might run in this situation is debatable and to be honest I simply do not see the point of 10s in any way, just as with chromebooks. Since hardware is getting so relatively cheap they might as well build it all into the machine and have done with it. Brian bglists@blueyonder.co.uk Sent via blueyonder. Re: what in the world is happening with firefox and nvda
Gene
There is no need to check about
accessibility. This may be the same problem that has been discussed a
number of times over the last number of weeks with a certain brand of
laptops. You may have to register some dll files that aren't registered in
this brand or perhaps in this brand and model. What brand of laptop is
it? I'll let others who keep track of the problem in detail as far as the
procedure to register the dll files discuss the matter further.
Firefox is accessible in XP and in all later versions of Windows unless there is a technical problem. Gene

Hi could I ask that when you have comments on one thread, that you put them into as few posts as possible. I know I've been accused of running off comments as if this is a chat line and it irritates others and generates lots of messages crossing over each other with similar content as well. Make a mental note of replies in your thread and put them into one reply or as few as possible. also do not change the meaning of a subject thread without trying to indicate in the subject line that its morphed a bit. I'm mindful of those who have to wade through these and may then mask out your messages and then never see one that might be relevant later on. I'm going back to sleep now. Re: How do i activate unclickable linkis?
Gene
These are not necessarily mouse over links.
Whether a link is a mouse over link has nothing to do with whether it can be
activated in the usual way. A mouse over link shows additional information
when the mouse is hovered over it. But it is followed in exactly the same
way as any other link.
If a link doesn't activate, two things in addition
to what you have tried are:
Use the command shift enter on the link. If
something like a browser popup blocker is keeping it from opening, shift enter
may allow the link to open in a new Window. Once you are finished using
the page, you can close it with alt f4 and be back in the other
window.
If that doesn't work, turn off browse mode with
NVDA key space. Then try following the link with enter. Some links
don't work unless browse mode is off. Return to browse mode if you aren't
automatically returned if the page loads, by pressing escape. You can use
NVDA key space to return to browse mode but escape is more
convenient.

Re: what in the world is happening with firefox and nvda
Joe_L
Hi All,
I'm new to the group and to NVDA, I'm a sighted user learning and setting up for someone else. I've just completed a new install of NVDA and Firefox 55.0.2 onto a Windows 10 Home 64bit laptop (HP Envy). In Firefox I cannot navigate properly, for example pressing H does not take me to the next heading and neither can I navigate to specific paragraphs to speak them. I'm using the Focus Highlight add-on and the green highlight rectangle does not appear in Firefox, but it does appear in other apps e.g. file explorer where I get both the red and green highlight rectangles. If I go back to Firefox I get no green rectangle again. For comparison I have been testing NVDA on Windows 7 and it works properly, if I press H I get a green rectangle over a heading and can down-arrow to the following paragraph (also FF55.0.2). One critical point here I have just discovered - on Windows 10 if I launch FF first and NVDA afterwards I get the problem. If I launch NVDA first and FF second it seems to be OK (needs more testing to prove this is robust...). On Windows 7 launch order is unimportant. Regards Joe

How do i activate unclickable linkis?
John J. Boyer
On some websites I find links that don't respond to either the enter key or the NVDA key hat simulates a left mouse
click. I assume that these are mouse-over links, but there must be a way to actibate them. For example, in the New American Bible I place my cursor on the link to Ruth, but I can't open the book.
