Re: question regarding seamonkey
Vincent Thacker <vince@...>
Marv, Windows 10 might not be a requirement, but from the little experience I've had, Seamonkey works fine under Windows 10. Only one way to be sure; try it. You're quite right in saying Win 10 isn't listed in the documentation, but the browser is supposed to be equivalent to the current Firefox.

Also the edit fields where I can type texts are not being read properly, either by Jaws or NVDA. It seems that Facebook has become less accessible nowadays, even though it have over 1 billion users.

Firefox lags on FB
Hi all, Does anyone here experienced lags when using Facebook with Firefox along with a screen reader (Jaws or NVDA)? I've been using Firefox for a long time and I've experienced lags with Facebook from time-to-time and it's really annoying, especially on my Surface 3. On my desktop I'm using Jaws, and on my Surface 3 I'm using NVDA, latest version.

Hi,

Jamie Teh said something on Twitter that basically says that statement. I may eventually need to talk about social media and NVDA later during that event... Right now though, I'm in the midst of a semester at a community college, seeing the news coming from NVDACon speaker recruitment efforts, finalizing StationPlaylist add-on 7.0 beta, thinking about writing a letter to mainstream programmers about value of NVDA and others (along with making sure my latest code for add-ons manager gets integrated into NVDA Core). Cheers, Joseph P.S. Yes, I do code (NVDA screen reader), and latest endeavor can be found at http://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/3090.

I find that open office works a little better than libre office. The read-to-end function doesn't work in that either but I can deal with that. Rosemarie

Well, it works well upto a point, I would say. Quite a major drawback is that you don't get formatting information with NVDA when you press NVDA+f. I hope this is something that can be addressed soon. Another drawback is that the read to end function does not work; it only reads a paragraph at a time. Another small irritation is that, when you use auto-numbering and arrow up and down your text, the number of each numbered element is read twice.

So, while it is generally accessible, there certainly are usage issues with it. I really wish the NVDA developers would pay more attention to accessibility of LibreOffice, as it is also a free package and much less clunky to use than the MS counterpart. Kind regards Christo

I'm more concerned about our reputation now that we're in the midst of celebrating NVDA's tenth anniversary (and I'm the chair of a planning committee for various events, chiefly NVDACon 2016). I hope our reputation wasn't damaged a lot because of what some people have done (on social media). As far as the surrounding matter (Dictation Bridge and resulting debate), I'll briefly mention it on March 14th event. Cheers, Joseph
