Hi Cearbhall,

I am on Office 365. From what I know, the insider builds get you the latest versions faster though they are like test builds because other subscribers get those features once you have tested the features.

That's generally how we "sightees" do it, too.  I have had very rare occasion to keep a single folder open in its own tab (I never use separate windows) when I know that there is going to be "hot and heavy" traffic and I just want to leave that particular folder open and jump between tabs rather than click between folders in tree view.  In general I find it just as fast to jump between folders with point and click.

Now I've largely transitioned to using web-based interfaces to my e-mail accounts because of ease of access, and consistent look and feel, from anywhere I can get on to a web-connected computer.

How do you open multiple folders simultaneously?  When I move to a folder in the folders treeview, the messages in that folder are displayed in the list and I can tab to them.  When I move to another folder, the messages in that folder are displayed.

Clearly they do not, or this concept would not have gone the way of the dinosaur.

The only e-mail client I know of that ever used identities is Outlook Express.  Outlook Express has been dead for a long time.  If identities had been considered a "must have" feature every e-mail client that has come since would have created them.  What  became a "hot item," which I dislike, is the universal inbox that takes all the inboxes of all the accounts you have in an e-mail client and integrates all the messages in all of them arranged, whether threaded or unthreaded, with the sort order you want.  That's my idea of a nightmare because my e-mail accounts are used for separate purposes and the last thing I want is to be looking at all of them at once.  I am, however, clearly in the minority since the universal inbox is a very popular and almost ubiquitous feature these days.

I have never understood the attraction of identities, myself.  It is easy enough to jump from account to account in a tree structure and those accounts are entirely separate entities.  I believe that this is the reason that identities really never took off.

Re: Making Partition Using NVDA

You're not listening.

The person asked for a tool that was both accessible, and included with windows.  I suggested paragon's disk manager or partition program because I don't know of any programs that fit the original posters requirements, and apparently you don't either, since you keep pushing partition magic which definitely does not come with windows, and is definitely not a free utility, and also is not accessible with NVDA or any other screen reader for that matter, so you fail on all counts.

Partition magic is *not* (I repeat) partition magic is *not* a windows tool. Therefore, your statements are erroneous. Microsoft does not include partition magic with windows, so that makes it neither free, nor is it part of windows (which is what the original poster was asking for.

That is clearly not true, as a friend of mine has done this, but he is sighted. I'll need to ask him the trick.
I think it can have issues if there is already a hidden partition for recovery use as is often the case these days. Brian

If there's a way to resize partitions with built in windows tools, I
sure never learned about it. The only way to make one partition two
partitions is to delete the existing partition, and create two of them,
which wipes out everything on the drive, and leaves you with two freshly
formatted partitions both of which will be completely blank. This is
fine if you don't care about the contents of your hard disk, but if
you're trying to simply split a single partition into two partitions,
then there aren't any ways to do this with just default windows utilities.

Unless you have a program that can resize partitions, you're not going
to be able to change your partitions without loosing
everything.Paragon has a couple programs that can do this, check out
http://paragon-software.com and take a look at their partition manager
or their hard disk manager depending on how much you want to do. Both
programs aren't 100 percent accessible, but they're close enough to
get the job done. If you're willing to help out, let me know, and
can give you my affiliate links, but if you just want to purchase the
programs, that's ok too.

not able to update itself.
For this time, you can download it from here:
http://www.nvda.it/files/plugin/weather_plus4.5.nvda-addon
Then everything will go back to normal.

Thanks to all for your support.

New NVDA sounds

Christopher-Mark Gilland <clgilland07@...>

Guys,

I was running, a while back a snapshot of NVDA 2017.3, and noticed that the NVDA sounds for things like startup, quitting, etc. were different than what they have been for the longest time.

Now, with the official release of 2017.3, I'm not seeing this.

Can someone advise me on how to go about getting those other sounds? I liked them much better.

Chris.

The ultimate download address, if you start at the official add-ons page is:  http://www.nvda.it/files/plugin/weather_plus4.5.nvda-addon as was previously noted by Adriano.

It works just fine under Firefox, but IE11, Chrome and Edge are choking on it and instead of presenting a save dialog appear to be downloading the code for display in the browser.  I have no idea why.

If anyone is in a desperate hurry and doesn't use Firefox I just placed the Weather Plus add-on file I downloaded on my Google Drive here.

I figured I would give it a try since it worked in one way I might be able to get it to work the way I need.

Travis said that the two folders are not in the same account.  It appears, then, that you can't have two or more folders opened in the same account.  I've never tried to open folders from different accounts simultaneously in Thunderbird.  But I've never seen a way to open more than one folder in a single account.  To possibly save you time and trouble, are you willing to use a program that just allows more than one folder in different accounts?

Well, again, I'm not sure why just navigating to them is a problem, but for what it's worth, you can have multiple folders open, I just opened a second account, and I can now control-tab between my two folder lists, two messages that are open, and this email (currently being written).  I don't think thunderbird cares how many folders you open, but as I said, each one you open uses additional memory and cpu, but if it works for you, have at it.

FYI the multiple folders that I use are all from one email account they are not from different email accounts I obviously do not use my email the way that you do I prefer to have certain folders open throughout the day as I use them that way that is why I need to have multiple folders open at the same time because it is how I work

What's the reason for having multiple folders open at the same time? Thunderbird tells you when you get new mail, and which account it was for, at that point, you can easily go back to the folder list, and select the one you want to read, open it, then go to the message list and there you are.  I have 3 accounts in my current thunderbird, and I never need more than one folder at a time open.  When I want to read mail from the other folders, it's a simple matter to navigate to it and open it in the folder list.  I'm not sure what benefit you would derive from having them open all the time (other than eating memory and cpu cycles).

Can you please tell me how to open multiple folders?

I have not had a chance to install it since I started this thread but I am getting mixed messages as to whether I can have four folders open at the same time.

Hi,

Try Mozilla Thunderbird. Works with NVDA just fine and has everything you need.

I am looking for a new email program (obviously needs to work with NVDA).

Must haves: work with gmail, work with multiple email accounts, open multiple folders at the same time

Thanks for any help. Outlook keeps crashing every time I try to open a second folder (or even just switch to a different folder within the same window).
