Sorry, but I have no real idea what yoou're trying to express here.

If you have problems, there are plenty of people here keen and able to help,
but you have to tell us what the problems are, otherwise we don't know what
the possible solution is.

Incidentally, I'd be interested to know where you can download a version of
Firefox from 1999 from, since it was only first released in 2004 :)

Please could you be more specific about what problems you actually have?

Just saying "for many many reasons", "this feature causes many problems for
me", and "I have other concerns" with being specific about what those problems
or concerns are makes it very difficult for people to help you, because it's not
clear what actual problems you're trying to deal with or what is important to
you.

Phonetic spelling is the only specific problem you've mentioned, so I hope
someone can help you with that, althoug you somewhat confusingly say that you
"found a way to return it back to previous behavior, but unfortunately did not
work". So, did you find a way to do this, or not? What did you try? If you
tell us what you did, maybe someone can point out a small step you missed, so
that it would work.

Also, what is your "multiprocess" problem? This is not at all clear to me.

Regards,

Antony.

Re: nvda and citrix environments?

Quentin Christensen

To be honest, if someone had asked me the question directly, I would have deferred to the brain's trust here myself, so I hope this is the right place for such questions :)

But yes, the other place definitely is GitHub.  As you know, with help from some of the very knowledgeable people here, triaging of new issues is starting to get done a bit quicker and hopefully that will allow us to investigate / respond to / fix things sooner.

Back to Citrix, and I must admit I don't have any great personal knowledge on the matter myself.  Definitely, as someone indicated, it is always worth bringing this to the attention of the other organisation - as quite often a little bit of work from both sides makes fixing things so much easier for everyone.

Re network installs, I'm sure I had a conversation awhile back with someone who mentioned they setup NVDA to automatically install on a lab full of machines - I don't know exactly how they did it now.  If you are doing a network or automatic install, you might be interested in the command line options for setting up in a batch file particularly: https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/documentation/userGuide.html#CommandLineOptions

Quentin.

They should be a code factory menu within the nvda menu options
If you choose eloquence or vocalizer it should prompt you to download a
voice pack

Hi,

NVDA Menu, then CodeFactory, then Eloquence.

You should have Eloquence and Vocalizer Expressive in there.

All the best

Hi good people:
I've just installed a copy of codefactory elequence expressive ad on for
NVDA, and I am starting with the trial version.
The program has been properly installed, and I've gone through the settings.
But I cannot find the program in the synthesiser sub-menu of NVDA.
Please can anyone help me understand what could have gone wrong, or what I
didn't do properly?
Regards.

Re: Kendall ap for windows

hi.

8.8. Kindle for PC
NVDA supports reading and navigating books in Amazon Kindle for PC.
This functionality is only available in Kindle books designated with
"Screen Reader: Supported" which you can check on the details page for
the book.
Browse mode is used to read books. It is enabled automatically when
you open a book or focus the book area. The page will be turned
automatically as appropriate when you move the cursor or use the say
all command. You can manually turn to the next page with the pageDown
key and turn to the previous page with the pageUp key.
Single letter navigation is supported for links and graphics, but only
within the current page. Navigating by link also includes footnotes.
8.8.1. Text Selection
Kindle allows you to perform various functions on selected text,
including obtaining a dictionary definition, adding notes and
highlights, copying the text to the clipboard and searching the web.
To do this, first select text as you normally would in browse mode;
e.g. by using shift and the cursor keys. Once you have selected text,
press the applications key or shift+f10 to show the available options
for working with the selection. If you do this with no text selected,
options will be shown for the word at the cursor.
8.8.2. User Notes
You can add a note regarding a word or passage of text. To do this,
first select the relevant text and access the selection options as
described above. Then, choose Add Note.
When reading in browse mode, NVDA refers to these notes as comments.
To view, edit or delete a note:
1. Move the cursor to the text containing the note.
2. Access the options for the selection as described above.
3. Choose Edit Note.

i copied explanation from user guide.

hope that help, God bless you.

word 2016 track changes and comments

Dave Bahr <dcbahr1@...>

Hi.

I am wondering how I can see track changes in Microsoft word 2016? I can tell that someone inserted or deleted something but not what the original was. Not even in browse mode. I also can’t right click on text that has a comment on it and edit it. It just says to make a new comment. Any ideas on this?

Thanks, Dave

Has anyone tested this addon?

I was wondering i anyone has tested the image description addon and how good is it?

Hi All,

Dear All,

I have created an addon for NVDA which provides description for graphics/images present on the web pages. The add on uses Microsoft's Computer Vision cognitive API to get a description of the image provided to it. Please find below the steps to use the add on and the dropbox link to download it.

Steps to use add on:

Step 1: Generate a subscription key for using Microsoft Computer Vision cognitive API from the link below:

https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/try/cognitive-services/

Please note that the key has to be created for the Computer Vision API. Currently Microsoft provides the option to create a trial key for 30 days.

Step 2: Download and Install the NVDA Addon named Assistech_IIT_Delhi from the link “” or from download button above.

For Addon installation instructions visithttps://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/documentation/userGuide.html#toc94

Step 3: From the add-on menu, select the options add API key and provide your subscription key for the cognition API.

Step 4: If you are behind a proxy, from the add on menu (the add-on is named as Assistech_IIT_Delhi) , select the options add proxy details and provide your proxy IP and port.

Step 3 and step 4 only need to be performed the first time or whenever either of your proxy details or subscription key changes.

Step 5: While navigating a webpage, whenever a graphic is encountered and is in focus, use keyboard shortcut NVDA+g. The image description and the confidence level returned b the API are provided as audio output. Use NVDA+gg to get the results (including the dominant colors present in the image) in a browseable message box. (Fetching results takes a few seconds.). If no result is obtained from API, appropriate speech message is returned.

I request you all to kindly test the add on and provide your feedback.

I spent two years perfecting my C++ skills to a point where I can describe some things written in that language. It took me five years to learn essentials of technical communication and documentation efforts - I started out as a translator for NVDA, and my most recent work was writing DictationBridge add-on documentation from scratch with notes from two other people.
2. Keeping a skill alive requires constant practice and learning. If you truly want to be competitive with Python, you need to know the differences between Python 2 and 3, what's trending in Python libraries, limits of this programming language, and being able to apply what you learned in various contexts.
3. Personal philosophy: do not make money your god, an end product, or the ultimate reason why you want to learn Python. Money is a powerful thing; however, if you let money become your master, you'll find that you'll think more about how to earn more for less or sacrifice everything for financial gain. Do not make money an end product, as doing so could make your mind think you can do all sorts of things with it. Do not make money your ultimate goal for learning Python, because doing so will expose your body, mind and soul to one of the easiest ways to make mistakes in life because money isn't the ultimate answer to life's difficult questions.
Before you think more about Python, money, NVDA, NV Access and what not, I'd like to suggest that you sit back and think about the following questions carefully:
1. Do I think Python is easy? The answer to this question will reveal your attitudes about learning things.
2. Do I think money can buy me answers to life's questions? Be careful with answering this, as your conclusions will let you know what you're thinking about the ultimate goal.
3. Is NVDA the only Python project I can contribute to? If you answer "yes", then I think you might be learning Python for wrong reasons.
4. Can I just learn things by just sitting back and expecting someone to teach me? If you answer "yes", then please think about why you're doing this, as studying things doesn’t merely involve someone teaching you things.
5. Can I use whatever skill I have right now or things I'll learn in a month to contribute to NVDA, and if so, will NV Access take it? If your answer is "yes", then I want to see a proof of this and your potential to contribute "meaningful things" (yes, I put that in quotes).
6. Who will benefit most from my work? If you answer "me", then you're not ready for this journey. NVDA is a global project, hence whatever small change you contribute will have impact on people's lives. If you want a real-life example, take a look at how indentation announcement by tones (a simple idea but a difficult code segment) is changing people's lives.
I challenge you to think about and answer these questions in hopes that you'll realize the reality ahead. I am intentionally using this approach in order to foster critical thinking process; I'm known in the community for being kind and willing to describe in detail how things work, but there are times when I need to show you reality, and part of being a great software engineer is thinking things through, even on topics you might be afraid to go through such as ethics and purposes (even I had to and am still going through this process).
To others: sorry for a possible harshness in this message.
Hope this helps.
