I am running NVDA 2017-3 on a Win 10 system.  It has been a while since I tried Malwarebytes  but the last time I did it was not very accessible with a screen reader.  Is that still the case?
Thanks

I must admit, on Windows 10, I also use the built in Defender from Microsoft.  This question does come up regularly though, so here are my notes from the last round of conversations on this earlier this year:

There are several anti-virus programs which are accessible with NVDA and some which are partly accessible:

Windows Defender comes with Windows 10 from Microsoft and is accessible.

One user, David Goldfield, has written a comprehensive review of Kaspersky Anti-Virushttps://davidgoldfield.wordpress.com/2016/11/16/kaspersky-antivirus-a-review-for-screen-reader-users/

Another user, Gene, has put together a whole site of information and suggestions, including for anti-virushttp://accessibilitycentral.net/nvda_road_tested_programs.html

Sonos is another anti-virus which has been recommended by some of our users: https://www.sophos.com/lp/sophos-home.aspx

If anyone checks those and finds the information out of date, or has others to add, please do chime in!

Kind regards

Quentin.

Hi,

I think we all do.  NVDA 2017.3 just doesn’t like you switching folders.  Is that the problem you mean?  JAWS crashes Outlook, but NVDA does it much more.

I've also searched in NVDA sources or in some plugins, but I don't understand how to proceed to catch the Dom object and how to work with it.

Hi,

Both LibreOffice and OpenOffice have serious issues when used with NVDA.

LibreOffice is better, but be prepared to find crashes, unexpected silences from NVDA and other annoyances.

I use LibreOffice, but always with a ton of patience.

Well when I used blackboard 6 most of it worked but that is ages and ages ago.

At the time most things worked but assignment submition didn't always work and a few form related things just didn't work.

However I know blackboard themselves have an accessibility team or someone that moniters them does as once someone appeared on the local list I was on for the blind stating as such.

So chances are there are people watching who knows.

Hello!
It just happened for me in Win 7 when starting Chrome. I got no feedback so I pressed NVDA+F1 to log information about the current navigator object, which should be tracking focus. Here is what it says:

So the navigator object, although configured to track focus, is on something which isn't even focusable.
Hope this helps in investigating.

I don't think very many blind people have an understanding of project management software since accessibility has been such an issue in this type of software.

I am using it on my Android phone and pc, but I am still very new to using it and can't really provide much assistance as I am still learning how to do things.

Dear NVDA community,

I’m delighted to announce the final schedule for 2017 NVDA Community Add-ons Festival, to be held on September 23, 2017 at NVDACon TeamTalk server (www.nvdacon.org)).

The Add-ons Festival is an event where authors and users of various NVDA add-ons can get together and have an informal chat about add-on development. Originally, NVDACon 2017 would have featured this event, but due to time constraints, it was separated into its own event.

Below is the final schedule of events for this gathering:

  • Date: September 23, 2017
  • Time: see below.
  • Location: NVDACon TeamTalk server

Chats (all times are in UTC):

  • NVDA Store: 15:00 UTC 8 AM Pacific, 11 AM Eastern)
  • Audio Themes: 17:00 UTC (10 AM Pacific, 1 PM Eastern)
  • Joseph’s add-ons (StationPlaylist Studio, GoldWave, Resource Monitor, Windows 10 App Essentials, ObjPad, Easy Table Navigator, Enhanced Touch Gestures): 19:00 UTC (12 PM Pacific, 3 PM Eastern)
  • A chat with Derek (Notepad++, DictationBridge, LaTeX Access and others): 21:00 UTC (2 PM Pacific, 5 PM Eastern)
  • 2018: taking advantage of features and opportunities: 00:00 UTC (5 PM Pacific, 8 PM Eastern): serving as an informal keynote for the festival, Joseph Lee will discuss the role of the community and add-ons in 2018, including transitioning to Python 3, speech refactor, compatibility with old Windows releases, review process, and updates on features that’ll impact add-ons.

Hope to see you there.

Cheers,

Joseph

Yes that's true and confirmed, unfortunately the navigation keys don't work with NVDA if you use this old display.

Hello everyone. I've recently acquired a Hims Sync Braille 20 cell

working when I try to scroll nothing happens. If anyone has had this
issue or knows of anything else I can do, the help is greatly
appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ok, yep it's definitely something we want to get fixed, but as an interim workaround, control+shift+tab at least doesn't seem to crash anything.

How do you switch to sent items?

I've seen one issue where if you press control+y, it often causes problems, but control+shift+tab seems to work instead.

Other times if I switch to sent items outlook quits responding.

But, some of the time it’s just fine.

Ok, but aside from the errors in the log, is anything not working?

I restarted nvda at the desktop to get a clean log.

I launched outlook – let the email list of messages display and pressed nvda-f1 – copied the log to the clipboard and then hit enter on the message at the bottom of the list which was your message.

I chose reply and pasted the log to you.

That is all.

I get errors when I down arrow in many messages as well.

I have tried this after restarting with addons disabled as well.

That doesn’t seem to help.

I have also rolled back to release builds and this problem still happens.

Thank you sir,

Sam

Thanks Sam,

What happened when this log was generated?  EG: Were you doing something particular in Outlook, does it always happen when you do that, etc?

Sure :)

I have started catching up on the Outlook issues - at least getting up to speed with what the issues are etc moreso than necessarily having all the solutions.

There are likely folks in here who can help, but the NVDA-devel group is likely a better place to post those kinds of questions.

Hi,

Thank you for your fast reply.

I've already made a few scripts for some non-web application, and I used the links above. But I can't find any documentation or examples on how to deal with virtual documents.

I've also searched in NVDA sources or in some plugins, but I don't understand how to proceed to catch the Dom object and how to work with it.

Best regards,

Sampa

Re: NVDA's "Modern" Sounds

I would be curious to hear them. With other requests on the list over the past couple of weeks, I think there would be other takers too.
I'm thinking the instructions given previously only applied for those who still had that snapshot installed, or was running a portable copy. Even a copy of that particular snap would be fine with me as I could create a portable NVDA out of it and copy the "waves" folder out of that.

I thought someone had sent instructions about how to get them.  According to a post I saw, it referred to someone doing it.  I don't like the sounds but I have them because I never got around to deleting the snap I downloaded that have them.  If they aren't already available somewhere, I can make them available.

A few people have been asking for the alternate sounds over the past couple of weeks. So far, nobody has come forth with any of them. Maybe they don't actually exist, but was a mass audio illusion for the lucky few who heard them? LOL!

No. The NVDA sounds were changed in a master snap, but then changed back to default. I would like to find those sounds.
