Re: Wordpress.com problems

Sarah k Alawami
Can you be more clear as to what does not work, steps to reproduce, wordpress version and build, same with nvda including build and work arounds if at all possible? Right now your post does not help very much, as it will take those of us that don't use self hosted wordpress sites to test everything.

vocalizer voices (got it partly figured out)
Travis Siegel <tsiegel@...>
I have to say, the web page where the nvda plugin is up for download is terrible. According to the site (and I quote).
Once the Add-on is installed along with NVDA, you can select either Code Factory Eloquence or Code Factory Vocalizer in the NVDA Synthesizer dialog and then select the preferred language in the NVDA Voice dialog.
Yeah, only this doesn't work for vocalizer voices. It works just fine for eloquence voice (which btw, I can't stand), but apparently, for vocalizer voices, you need to go to another page (not linked to anywhere on the NVDA plugins page), and download the voices you want to use. This is pretty poor page design, especially since there is no mention anywhere on the page that voices need to be downloaded.
But, just for reference, downloading the voices I wanted didn't change my circle of errors, I'm still getting the thanks for using, and telling me that pressing ok will start the install process, (which btw doesn't). Installing the samantha voice separately also doesn't solve my problem, I can select vocolizer in the code factory menu, but when going to synthesizer and selecting vocalizer is how I get into that nice endless error circle, so there is definitely still work that needs done on these voices. I'd be demanding my money back with no doubt if I'd had this experience after paying for these things. The seven day trial is nice, but it isn't of any use to me, because nothing here is working, so I'm just going to write it all off as a bad idea and go back to being content with my espeak ivan 3 voice.

Re: Customizing Announcement of Command Keys
Hello Quentin! Sorry! The previous message have gone out without authorization! Smile! Please, see: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/6553namely: ruifontes commented on 15 Nov 2016 A compromise solution: 1 - Considere Enter, and accents like accut accent, grave accent, tilde and carete, as a character; 2 - Separate arrows from command keys. That way will have three group of keys; 1 - Typeable characters including Enter and accents; 2 - Arrow keys; 3 - All other keys; bhavyashah commented on 2 Mar Hi, Are there any users who would like to retain announcement of arrow keys via the Speak command keys option? If absolutely none, removing arrow keys as a whole from being reported under all settings should be considered, because it is unlikely and unproductive for anyone to enable arrow keys while working, or even creating tutorial content for beginners, or in any scenario I can currently visualize. Also, adding only Enter to the characters spoken even with the afore mentioned setting off would be of significant help to beginners, as many NVDA users and trainers have reported in the past, and shouldn't have any counter-productive consequences in the UX of other users. However, Enter in comjunction with other keys, in the form of key commands, shouldn't be verbalized. The above two cases have been pretty much unanimously agreed as expressed in several comments and through various tickets in the past, and thus I have specifically requested their implementation. With the arrow keys eliminated and the Enter key spoken, we may have a clearer picture of the user demand going forward. Thanks. Do we need some more issues open to this question? If you see, my proposal and bhavyashah proposal are identical, with the inclusion of accents in the typeable characters, as they really are. Hi Tony

it fixed my problem
Troubleshooting - NVDA says “unknown” or “pane” in all of your browsers, Mozilla Thunderbird email client and other places
If for some reason you have problems with NVDA saying “unknown” or “pane” check for the following symptoms:
•
In all of your browsers, or the Mozilla Thunderbird email client, no matter what you do, you still hear “unknown” or “pane”.
•
In the browser, email client and other menus you notice you cannot get into your menus, or you are unable to use the quick navigation keys
•
When you have been told the page is loaded and notice strange behaviour
•
Mozilla Thunderbird saying unknown while you try to navigate it
•
Your applications key does not work with it being spoken out and other strange behaviour in Windows
•
The running applications icons are not being spoken out
It might be a good idea to do the following:
Please note: If you are hearing “unknown” or “pane” (as discussed above) NVDA might seem like it is still working properly but it may not be completely in Windows and other programmes.
You could try the following solution which will allow you to re-register your dll files in case they are causing the problem.
Press the Windows key then type the following into the search box. Type in “command prompt”. Once you have located command prompt, in the search results, press the Applications key to bring up the context menu. Arrow down to select “run as administrator” and
press the Enter key. This will take you to a command prompt window. This will not be spoken out. You may need sighted assistance for this.
Type in the following command
for %x in (c:\windows\system32\*.dll) do regsvr32 /s %x
This should re-register all components in the system32 folder.
When it is finished, you can close the command prompt window with the Alt + F4 key. You should notice now where NVDA was saying “unknown” as in some examples given, NVDA should now read the icons in the running applications area of Windows, speak the content
of the webpage and menus, and also in Mozilla Thunderbird and other places in Windows including the Windows applications context menu.
if the above does not fix it then we can try the other suggested stuff from jamie.

Yeah, I think it is that same bug in a different but more powerful incarnation. It is not just affecting web browsers, and email clients, programs like word, excel, 7.zip, Nero, and anything with a context menu across the board are all having some sort
of issue or just not wanting to work at all. Sounds like a job for the command to re-register the system 32 folder.

If you use the context menu will it speak any of the items in it? I am wondering if is that bug?
have a look on my nvda audio tutorials page and go to the section on trouble shooting and look for the heading that says unknown or pane for windows 10.
I can not remember either but there is a patch etc but can not remember if it is on that page as well. it might only be for windows 7 or 8 machines?

Re: Latest Next snap update as portable will not restart
Brian's Mail list account
its a funny one as I've done it three times now in different places with the same result each time. However if you do not use the new restart checkbox all goes well and one can restart manually, which is why I postulateed(they can't touch you for it) that it might have a flaw in its restart logic, perhaps not allowing time for the old temp copy to exit nicely. I can remember when I wascapturing logs from the old version that I had to add a time out to allow for this to happen or it eithr fell over or part of the end of the log was missing. For example the end of a log on my forced reboot looks like this

Anyone had issues with next snaps as portable versions when you select the start after its finished updating box all goes quiet. You have to tab once, hit space then boot in another copy of nvda. The log looks to me like its not actually teerminating the old nvda to me, which may or may not be the issue. anyone care to commeent, or is this yet a further manifestation of the .dic files issue? firstly and most importantly, very very compatible with NVDA; it's very easy/intuitive to use since it has both a graphic interface, as well as if you've used Qwitter, The Qube and others similar, a similar interface to these.

Yes I gave up even trying to understand it, Even on the mobile site. Is there a blind friendly client for any of the so called social media sites that are easy to use? Maybe I can employ a young person to do it for me! Brian

hi,
How do you guys use facebook with nvda? In particular, searching group posts and viewing the results, but most actions seem laggy. Also, nvda randomly jumps around on the page.
