I have an iPhone but as part of my work as an adaptive technology specialist
at Pacific training centre for the blind, I work with clients who do have
iPads and iPhones. The iPad and iPhone accomplish the same goal. That is,
the same gestures with Voiceover works, sending emails works, etc. Where
its different is in the size of the iPad, and also the iPad does not have a
phone in it.

Re: replying to individuals rather than the entire list

Antony Stone

Well, er, you send your reply to the originator of the message?

Sorry, but I really don't quite understand the question - the answer seems so
obvious.

In your case you sent an email from "Don H" <lmddh50@adams.net> therefore this
is the address I would reply to if I wanted to send only to you and not to the
entire list.

All emails I see on this list show the address of the person who sent it as
the "From" address (and the list itself as the "To" address), therefore for me
the distinction is quite clear.

Maybe it would help if you tell us which email client you use and what it
shows you as the "From" or "Sender" address for emails from this list, then we
can help to reduce your confusion.

Antony.

Do you have it set up to be accessible? Open the menus and look
through them. Also, use the command f1 to open a list of
commands. Close the list with escape.

Specifically, to record, use the command f3 wile Tapin is playing to
turn recording on and off. You should look through the menus
and preferences, which you can open from a menu. You can make
adjustments such as whether recording is done as one continuous file
or whether a new file is begun every time the program sees that a new
work is playing. on music stations or other stations that indicate
such things so that Tapin shows them in the title bar, by default, a
new file will be started every time the information in the title bar
changes.

For the installed version of NVDA, voice dictionary files are stored in the
User\Appdata\Roaming\NVDA\Speech Dicts folder but you need to enable view
hidden files and folders to access it.

See my previous answer.
Its always user in the portable version but system in the installed one and
when you copy the current config so it can be used on the hard to read
screens like log in and system ones, it normally warns you that the system
config in the users area and in the program files area are going to be the
same after you do that.
User configs are only in the portable version and remember that cannot
access the protected screens and indeed some other content if you are using
windows 10.

I downloaded NVDA again on another laptop (portable version, like I did

Re: Speech Dictionary

Giles Turnbull

I'm using Win10 and the default and voice dictionaries are in: appdata/roaming/NVDA/speechDicts

you'll find the appdata folder in C:\users\ and then whichever name your account is.

I find it easier to open that default.dic file in Notepad and searching for the word there to figure out whether I've already got a specific word in a dictionary, than I do starting at the top of the entries in the dictionary menu.

Hope that helps :)

Giles

When reporting something like this, please also explain what it was you did,
because that can help other people in the future who encounter the same
problem.

Thanks,

In the old version of NVDA there was a map ”UserConfig”. In this map was a
map called “SpeechDicts” . In it was a file called ”default”. In this file
you could read the content of the speech dictionary. Where can I find this
file in the new version of NVDA ???
