Re: replying to individuals rather than the entire list

Also, what do you have set up as your default e-mail client?

I'm not sure if you're on Windows 10 or not, but whatever program is defined as your default for the mailto protocol is what should open if you activate a mailto link.

Re: replying to individuals rather than the entire list

If mailto links aren't working in Thunderbird it's because some setting is turned off or some add-on is preventing it.

I just activated the "Reply to Sender" links in multiple messages I've saved and to a one I get the compose window opened with the correct subject, which is Re: plus the subject from the original message (which results in double Re: at times).

Hey Brian. This doesn't work in Thunderbird. I just hit enter on your said link and nada.

It's a simple matter to find it either using the screen reader list of links or with a screen reader find.  It would, of course, be the first one you encounter if there have been multiple bottom quotations of prior messages.

I don't find it very difficult to use the keyboard on my Iphone! seperate keyboard isn't necessary in my opinion!
2. How do you access the VoiceOver app when you get the iPad? Would this be something a sighted person would have to help with?
You will need help turning it on I believe though double check on that I thought I had read somewhere that it was possible without sight?
3. Lastly, how much do you need to know about VoiceOver to use the iPad?
Vouce over has a learning option so you can go in and play around with it though I will say I have not used it even once! it is reasonably easy to use!

When you open the program, you are, as I recall, in an edit field.Tab around if you aren’t.  I don’t have the program on this computer and I can’t tell you exactly what it is called.  Type whatever you are looking for, a station, a genre, a country, and maybe other things I don’t know about nor use.  Shift tab, once and, if there are results, you will find them.  Sometimes, it takes a little while for the program to find things if the search brings up a lot of results.

Use read current line to hear the first result if it isn’t announced.  Down arrow to see all results.  Press enter on the one you want.

Do you have it set up to be accessible?  Open the menus and look through them.  Also, use the command f1 to open a list of commands. Close the list with escape.

Specifically, to record, use the command f3 wile Tapin is playing to turn recording on and off.  You should look through the menus and preferences, which you can open from a menu.  You can make adjustments such as whether recording is done as one continuous file or whether a new file is begun every time the program sees that a new work is playing.  on music stations or other stations that indicate such things so that Tapin shows them in the title bar, by default, a new file will be started every time the information in the title bar changes.

StationPlaylist Studio add-on 17.10 #addonrelease

Hi everyone,

StationPlaylist Studio add-on 17.10 is now available.

IMPORTANT: from this release forward, people using Windows XP, Vista and 7 without Service Pack 1 cannot join Test Drive program. Specifically, people using old windows releases cannot switch to Test Drive Fast update channel. A future version of the add-on will move folks using those Windows releases to a dedicated support channel.

More info can be found at:

https://github.com/josephsl/stationplaylist/releases/tag/17.10

Cheers,

Joseph

Hey Chris,

here are some APIs for instant OCR which should allow you to solve the problem somehow. Unfortunately I am not as experienced yet to help you out with that but maybe you can find something useful in there. It would be great if you describe your solution at the end because I think it will be important for many NVDA users in different cases.

Re: replying to individuals rather than the entire list

If you are receiving messages in HTML format, which is the default, at the end of each and every message is a link that always reads, "Reply to Sender."

When that link is activated it is a mailto link that should cause whatever program you have defined as your default e-mail client to open a compose window with the "To:" already filled in with the address of the sender of the message to which you're replying and the subject being, "Private: {the topic from the group inserted here}".

Don,

I am using Outlook 2016

I get hold of the individual email from the header of the message when I first read it. At that stage the email of the sender is showing at the top of the header. I press control+home to move to the top line of the open message. I then press alt+right arrow to move word by word to the email address of the sender. Once it is spoken, NVDA has it highlighted and so I can copy it for use later after I press alt+r to open a reply to the message.

I did that here and pasted your email in the cc field of this message. If I have it right, you should get this message twice.

Feel free to reply to me privately if you wish. That way you can have a go at trapping my email address from the global version of the message using the technique that I am describing!

Mallard

Hello all,

A friend of mine has recently switched from Outlook to Thunderbird, and has an issue I don't know how to solve.

Thunderbird has been set as default, but when he tried to attach a file to an email from within Word, he gets an error message that says it is impossible to do so.
Even from LibreOffice he doesn't manage to attach files to emails.

He has Office 2007, LibreOffice 5.2, and NVDA 2017.3 under Windows7.

I'm at a loss, because it works for me in Windows 10, Versione 1067.

The difference, apart from the OS version, is that I don't have office, so it works in LIbreOffice.

Could it be that, in spite of having Thunderbird set as dafault, Word or Writer look for Outlook, can't find it, and give an error?

Hope this is clear. I'm not so good at explaining technical issues...
Ciao, and thanks in advance!
Ollie

Re: replying to individuals rather than the entire list

Chris

Yeah, but if you do a bit of searching through the group you should be able to find the email of the person you want to contact

Well most clients tend to use the reply address not the from address,

unfortunately, and the header in this message looks like this.

for <nvda@nvda.groups.io>; Mon, 25 Sep 2017 18:20:01 -0400 (EDT)

So pressing reply will default to the list not yourself.

I'm not very well up in Tbird but maybe thereis a shortcut key for reply to

originator not the list. I have tto say I tend to look at the header and

just cut and paste the email I want into the forward  to field and then use

that to reply to sender.

There is probably an easier way in this Outlook Express but being a boring

old git...grin.

Apple share price has dropped 0.88% yesterday so they are on the breadline and need your money so go and buy as many as you can afford to bail me... sorry I mean,  them out and pay their shareholders 😃

Yes managed that one as well.. grin.
That happens if you inadvertently put in reply to a different address to the one you send from. Confuses the heck out of dumnb email list servers...

Getting a reply from the list server saying the address you sent from is not
subscribed is very different indeed from getting an error 550 "undeliverable"
to the list server's own address.

I'm sure I got something similar to that message you received. That's

it said I wasn't subscribed and other stuff I cannot recall at this time.

No its an isp. And this problem has happened before. I tend now to

usually if one has this problem the other does not, in a few days

groups.io is affected as well and you have to re enable things but
this time its only sourceforge that has complained but I've switched
over to the other server.
I think that what often happens is that it gets on one list but not on
others due to some person who is on your isp getting their machine
botted.

All very irritating but a sign of the times I imagine.

Are you personally running your own mail server, or do you send mail
through your ISP's server?

If you're running your own mail server, is it on a static address
with correct reverse DNS records?

Ah, I see, maybe the server is on some black list then. That is the

This is probably why some messages do fail to get posted on some
lists if there is a listing which of course the average punter would not
know about.

Thanks I'll just monitor the situation on that list and in the mean
time post from a different system.

550 means "fatal error - mail could not be delivered"

The "8.4 points" is most likely an anti-spam filter result (quite
possibly from SpamAssassin).

Basically this combination means that the mail server refused to >
deliver your email to the list because it looked like spam, according
to whatever tests are done by that server.
