To access the Toolbar in Firefox press Alt V for view, in the menu bar where the toolbar is located.

How do you access toolbars in Firefox? With object navigation I can sort of get to one, but I only see a couple of buttons, e.g. "scribefire", which is something like 25 of 37. I can't see how to get to the rest of the buttons even with object nav, just the three or four that show up. I swear there was some sort of key you hit that toggled you into the toolbar so you could move through it and another way to move between them. Or maybe I'm thinking of something else or just hallucinating. Wouldn't surprise me, everybody else gets unicorns and dinosaurs and pink elephants and stuff, and I get access keys!

You also need to be using US English.  Using UK English or any other English won't work.

press the windows key then type sound. you may have to arrow down to find just sound. press enter. In the box that pops up highlite your defualt sound device. It will say default after it. Now tab to properties. now ctrl + tab to effects or enhancements. then tab to the checkbox that says disable all...You may have to look around in here a little as each manufacturer is a little different.

I haven't noticed that, but I did have to fiddle with the audio drivers
quite a bit. It seems that the chipset in this laptop has some idiotic
codecs that get loaded and do weird stuff to the sound, so I had to disable
them. There were driver updates in the creator's update though. Make sure
your enhancements or stuff like that didn't get re-enabled when you updated.
Sometimes that happens.

Hi, everyone,

I don't know if it's just me or if the volume in the creators update is softer now. Have any of you noticed that? Everything (speakders and NVDA volume) is set to 100 percent. I was just wondering about the softness of the new update.

Re: windows 10 fall creaters update coming out today

Hi

I checked my settings and all were correct.

When i setup windows i turned off quite a few of the privacy settings.

I just figured out what had done as all of my computes are the same.

To make it work go into the windows settings with the windows key + letter I

Locate the privacy setting then press the enter key.

then i went to the following setting and pressed the enter key on it Speech, inking, & typing

Then i turned on the following Turn on speech services and typing suggestions

I also checked my mic etc in the other section but knew it was ok.

Now when you do the windows key + letter H you will hear the noise then speak then there will be a noise when you finish.

I tried it in notepad etc and it worked.

Just did the same and put nvda to no speech then turned it back on to see what was read.

hope it helps for others to get it up and running.

Hi

It may well be that the microphone is not defined as your default recording device.  Try the following:

1 Press the windows key to open the Cortana search box and type in ‘sound card’ (without the quotes.

2. From the list of suggestions press enter on ‘Change sound card settings, control panel’

3. In the dialog that opens, press Control+tab to move to the Recording tab

4. Press down arrow to microphone in the list control

5. Tab down to properties and press enter

6. Tab to ‘Device  Usage Use this device’ and ensure it is enabled.

7 Tab to OK and press enter, then tab to OK again on the previous dialog box

It downloaded and installed without a hitch. It took 90 minutes to download, but it took two hours to install. It got stuck at 70 percent for an hour, but I just waited patiently, and it finished.

Wow, I am using NVDA version

Version: master-14532,58e1946e

And it is so snappy in Edge, that I can’t believe it. NVDA is working better in this 1709, than it ever has. I just want everyone to know that NVDA is so snappy as well in file explorer. It is much snappier when I arrow through ffiles and folders in different areas of file explorer. The Mail app is working great with NVDA.

Narrator, is very snappy with MS Mark. I used Narrator in Edge, and it works well.

When you get 1709, you will love how well NVDA works with it.

I have the same problem, the key stroke does not work. Microfone is activated since I can use cortana without problems. I think the dictation feature is just for some selected users.

Yes you have to have a microphone if one is not built in. They are more common in new laptops. Dont know of any PC's that have them built in.

Do you know how to send completely new messages to the list?  You sent your message in a completely unrelated thread, you left the subject line the same, and you left all the unrelated messages below yours.
If you do that, you make it much less likely that those you want to reach will read the message.  Many people decide which messages to read by reading the subject lines.  Such people won't even know you sent a message on a different subject.

On my PC's at least if there isnt a microphone Cortana's voice features are disabled until I plug one in. Makes sense now that PCs are smart enough to know when things are plugged into the soundcard.

Yes you have to have a microphone if one is not built in. They are more common in new laptops. Dont know of any PC's that have them built in.

Wow, Rosemarie!

If you press:

Windows+H, you hear a sound, and you can start dictating. When you stop, you hear a different sound, and you can read what you dictated.

I am dictating this email right now.

I am just talking out loud, after I pressed that command.

Well, let us see how well this dictation did!

This is a great feature of 1709!

I can’t wait until you get it!

Oh wow! I haven't gotten the new creator update yet but that's great that NVDA and narrator work so well with it.

Hi all!

I got the Fall Creators 1709 of win10 yesterday in my updates.

When you get 1709, you will love how well NVDA works with it.

i5 duel hp 7th gen this morning though the first one had 2 cu updates

after that but the desktop one worked as expected.

I did have adobe flash, java and google updates to contend with but

nothing else.
