I agree, my mail is now full of stuff I don't want to read even some of the mods are now straying! we all do it but remember folks some of us get loads of mail and really hitting the delete key over and over again gets annoying.

Despite the poor quality are a lot of languages supported intelligibility when nvda will be installed, nvda begins with the native language. after installing you always can make a choice for another synthesizer or keep espeak. it is not a good idea to remove espeak from the nvda installer. so keep espeak in the installation of nvda, that's my opinion. cheers paul otter

Re: ESPEAK

It makes sense to me. The English world often do not comprehend the difficulty we, from non-english countries, experience with speech packages. There was a time, when I used JAWS, and it wasn't long ago, that I had to read Afrikaans documents, even books, with JAWS and the Afrikaans was genuinely terrible. I know some of my friend sometimes make use of Dutch, but that still isn't the answer.

I don't mean to say that the English speaking people are unsympathetic or anything like that, but sometimes one don't think about it in that way. Greetings Christo

DOING AWAY WITH ESPEAK
Christo Vorster
Hi list
I do not necessarily agree with the idea to do away with ESpeak. I believe that is a case of "horses for causes."
In South Africa, more specifically, at the Institute for the Blind in Worcester where I am a lecturer, we extensively use ESpeak to read Afrikaans. And may I say, the quality of ESpeak's Afrikaans is actually very good.
I won't mind if the developers do away with ESpeak, but before that happens I want definite proof that the replacement program has, at least, the same quality, preferably, better.
Cheers

Just because it is developed by Microsoft does not mean it is compatible
with newer versions of Windows if it is too old. I don’t know if
installing a version of SAPI that is too old might damage something in new or
recent versions of Windows. But you can’t assume when you install
something like that that is like eighteen or twenty years old.
