Re: question
David Griffith
The pass through key is most often used when a web page or an application wants access to keystrokes which the Screenreader would normally reserve for itself. The clearest example I can think of is YouTube where pressing K without a screenreader running will pause the video, J will skip back and L will skip forward. If you want to access these keys function with a screenreader running you need to execute the pass through command first which will mean that the screenreader will ignore the keystroke and pass it straight through to the web page. So with NVDA running on YouTube use the pass through key command and then pressing K should pause the Video. David Griffith

I think the tutorial I read was a different one. It was the one about basics of the DC reader with NVDA, not specifically about large documents. I’ll have to look at yours as well. Thanks.

Hi. Single page is still preferred. I'm the one who wrote the
tutorial about reading large documents that Gene mentioned. I
thought I included that, but I apologize if I didn't.

Welcome to windows 10. Yes, any one of the alternatives work well on windows 10. almost all work well at the moment. PDF-reading experience on windows with NVDA and JAWS, is completely different than in mac os. Yes dear Mary, you know as well as I, the misery that is the PDF accessibility support in mac os. Welcome to a much better reading experience of PDF in windows! cheers. Às 14:31 de 01/11/2017, Mary Otten escreveu:
I am coming from an old windows XP machine where I used an old version of Adobe acrobat with good success on many PDF files. It let me navigate tables, access links, read continuously if I wanted to, page through the document, etc. i’m going to get a new Windows 10 machine, and I’m going to put NVDA on it and of course it will have narrator. I want to know which method work the best for reading PDF files. I understand they will open in edge if you want. And I assume the Adobe DC acrobat reader or whatever it’s called is also accessible. I gather the older readers are no longer supported. Anyway, I’m looking for something that will give me the best possible experience with the least possible hassle.

Hi Jean, Very nice short tutorial. I do have one question. You talk about the various page display options. Is there one that is preferred for Screenwitter users? It seems to me this used to be the case, and I think it was single page. But that may have changed. Mary Sent from my iPhone

As I write this, I can't remember the exact address to buy Vocalizer, so I suggest you go to the following web page: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/wiki/ExtraVoices On that page are links to the sites where you can buy Vocalizer on its own, the Eloquence and Vocalizer package, and other paid extra voices, as well as links to download free voices. Bye for now! From Clare

NVDA works just fine without it, you can get into the tray and right click and all, but the addon basically gives you the equivalent of jaws-F11. The community here is as dead as a zombie, we know a few people but everyone has their lives bar those that don't and get the cops about, however the only people I know are those I use for emergencies and thats not many. Hi, everyone. I have a blog on wordpress.com and have a couple questions about using it with NVDA. I've noticed that the HTML editor doesn't seem to be very accessible, so I have to switch to the visual rich text editor to write a post. Is there something I can change in the settings or something to make this more accessible? Also, I'm a beginner at blogging and only have a couple posts on my blog. Before I really get going with it, are there any settings I should change, good accessible themes or plugins I should use, or tips you have for someone just getting started? Thanks.
