I got rid of it with help from someone at the Microsoft disability line.

Well I think its better to just reformat.

Whoever loaded this should be really told off for doing so.

Even its users have had issues uninstalling, upgrading etc.

Worse some have reported that it has taken over their system etc, etc, etc.

I would never used best by again, reformat the computer and be done with it or even just get another one which is not best buy.

Hi, everyone,

I'm using narrator to write this message. I tried to update to nvda
2017.4
RC but when I tried to update to that version, something blocked it
from coming up. I called the microsoft disability line and they
couldn't get it to come up either. When Best Buys repaired my
computer, they put on this thing called web rooter or something like
that. I don't know what to do.
They also installed C cleaner which I really didn't need. How do I
allow web rooter to unblock nvda so I can upgrade?

Thanks for your help in advance.

The way I have always found the add to cart thing on Amazon where is to do a search for the word add. Maybe you get add to something before add to cart, but it’s easy enough to hit F3 and move on.

Re: can't upgrade to the nvda 2017.4 rc

Well who knows why its probably an add.

Its one reason why I don't care for shop repairs.

Mostly its get the system back, check it, fix whatever is broke then it works.

Or if its that good get it and up and go.

Usually, get it back, reformat it, completely then use it then swear I will never do it again.

So just reformat and reinstall windows.

The good thing is: there are all commands available in the help menu,

can be compared to Jaws! It is even faster! The transition is smooth
and have no problems at all.

And I updated to the latest version with no particular nuisance.

NVDA is a real option for my age group as many are no longer
employed and don't qualify for many aspects of rehabilitation
services and many of whom are on fixed incomes that may prevent
them from affording other options.

I have been learning NVDA for eight months or so and find the
transition from other screen readers quite easy. However, I am
stuck at the moment as NVDA will simply not run.

I had used it several weeks ago and needed to get back to building
skills. I tried the usual things and finally uninstalled NVDA and
reinstalled with the newest version. The install appeared to go
without a hitch and the default voice spoke through the end of the
process. Unfortunately, NVDA will still not run even when activated
from the program group directly. ,

I would love any next step suggestions to try and sort this out.
Many thanks,

Maybe a mangled setting.

I have had soundcards do bad things and need driver updates to.

Hi, Angela,

I transitioned from Jaws to NVDA in 2011 and haven't looked back.

Hi,

I finally decided to switch fromJaws to NVDA and find it so good: I wonder
why people always think of Jaws as the only option and don't choose this
great open source screen reader... It seems really fantastic!

The good thing is: there are all commands available in the help menu, so
every one can learn... And I think it does many many things: now it can be
compared  to Jaws! It is even faster! The transition is smooth and have no
problems at all.

And I updated to the latest version with no particular nuisance.

Thank you so much to the wonderful devs who make it better every day!

Sorry for my terrible English, but I wanted to thank you those who put
effort on what they do.

I have some experience with the Geek Squad. They service my laptop a couple of years ago and once it came back, I had webroot on my system.

Graphics Stickers

Robert Mendoza

Is there an addons or way to read the graphics stickers in facebook. Silly question to ask cause some of my friend send me like this type which is not readable by nvda though, I believe there is Emoticon but this only handles only for standard Smiley and Emoticon.

Hi, Quentin,

I was able to upgrade to NVDA 2017.4 1 RC but not to the second NVDA 2017.4 RC. I'll try what you suggested and see if it works.

Good points re trying to use task manager or uninstall to stop anti-virus programs.

The other question I had for Rosemarie, was that you mentioned you tried to upgrade to 2017.4rc1 but it didn't work and now you are using Narrator.  Does NVDA 2017.3 (or whichever version you were using before) now no longer work at all?

One other option for using NVDA, more as a one off, as I wouldn't want to do this all the time, is if you run the 2017.4rc1 (rc2 we're up to now) launcher, it should at least load NVDA to the point of getting you to the license agreement.  As long as it gets that far, you can either select "continue" or even just alt+tab away from the window and leave it there and it will stay running and working for you (or you could setup a portable copy from there you should be able to run later at least without the startup music and which will remember your settings).

Regards

Quentin.

Before shutting my system down last night I manually installed the latest version of NVDA. This morning I booted my system and heard the E-speak welcome message at the login screen and nothing after that. I have NVDA set to start after boot up but it didn't work. I went into settings and it wasn't checked to start after boot up. Is this normal for your settings to change? Thanks.

I don't know why Best Buys even installed the program in the first place. I
tried programs and features but it didn't work. I also tried to see if I
could uninstall it from the system tray but that didn't work either. It's
gonna be hard to get rid of it.

I used to work helping other blind computer users get started. this
program is a pest and you need to get rid of it I have had 2 systems
with it on it and it caused no end of problems with nvda. I can't
remember how hard it is to get rid of but try programs and features first.

Hi

out of curiosity was this just after you upgraded from the rc1 version of nvda to the rc2 version of nvda? I had my settings saved to when i log onto windows but it unchecked it and was waiting to see if any one else had this happen to them.

to save your settings any how is the nvda key + ctrl key + the letter c.

It might be a bug that has just been introduced
