UEB. I haven't checked this thing with the UK Grade 2 table yet. If you didn't know about it before, I'm glad I could help! From: joseph.lee22590@... Hi, Which braille table is this – UK or UEB? This is quite a serious thing you are bringing up (especially if it is UEB). Cheers, Joseph

Hey, From: joseph.lee22590@... Hi, I need to report this to LibLouis and see what our UK table maintainer says. Cheers, Joseph

Oh, okay. Why does the same anomaly show up when I use UK Grade 2 for the output table, though? I thought emdash in that system was two hyphens next to each other. From: joseph.lee22590@... Hi, UEB support: NVDA is using a really old Unified English Braille (UEB) table set. Re: nvda portable copy
Under Windows 10 one can determine which apps (or programs - these still get called apps from a Win10 standpoint) appear in the notification area (formerly known as the system tray). Go to Settings -> System -> Notifications & Actions Pane then search for the link "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" and click it. This will open a dialog that contains a long list of the various programs and apps each of which has what NVDA announces as a "Toggle Button" which is either "pressed" [on] or "not pressed" [off]. What gets tricky is that what's listed for NVDA is NVDA Application, two times since I have an installed and portable version, and I had no way of knowing which was which. I simply turned one on to see if the NVDA icon remained visible when I was running it and, if it did I knew I had the right one. Brian

Re: Clarification on portable copy
Marvin, Before I get to the technical bits, may I please ask you to consider not changing the title of your message when you're replying to a thread already in progress? When you do a brand new thread gets created, and the messages exchanged, the clarifications offered, etc., get scattered across many threads rather than being collected under one. What version of Windows are you running under? My guess is that your portable NVDA system tray icon is being shuttled into the overflow chevron area. There are ways to force that not to happen, but the details on how require knowing what version of Windows is being used. Brian

I don't know why you aren't seeing NVDA in the
system tray. I do on my computer but I don't know if this varies depending
on the operating system or where the portable copy is running from. The
system tray is not needed to see and work with NVDA. As I said, NVDA key n
opens the menu. You will find that using this command opens exactly the
same interface you are using the system tray to open.

I have no button or menus like the installed copy Can you clarify this just a bit? I'm not sure if you're saying that you can't access NVDA's own menus and settings or if it's not reading you Windows buttons and menus. In any event, I'd just try re-creating the portable copy. I just made a fresh one and it is behaving very similarly to the installed copy. Something may have gone wrong during the previous portable copy creation or something could conceivably have been corrupted afterward. Brian

Re: nvda portable copy
Gene
I don't know what you mean by not having a button
or menu. Are you using the commands from within the program such as NVDA n
to open the menu? As far as a button is concerned, I don't know what you
are referring to.
I would suggest going through some basic
information such as can be found in tutorials like the one here:
You will find links on this page
to different sections of a tutorial that is well thought of by a lot of
users. You will also see descriptions of what the various sections are
after the link to each section.
You may find information you
want to know about for features you didn't know existed. You may also find
that it benefits you to learn in a more organized manner.

Brian's Mail list account
Yes I'll get off of this topic, I was as many probably guessed and as others were probably doing setting up message rules to sort out the different lists. I have a couple tofind yet, but most are now working into sensible folders on this account.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Basically in Outlook Express speak. The line to use to o sort with is the to line and the address of the list, with move to a folder if that is contained and of course a stop processing more rules so it won't be seen by other rules. Works a treat so far. Brian bglists@... Sent via blueyonder. Please address personal email to:- briang1@..., putting 'Brian Gaff' in the display name field.
