Re: Emoticon is not readable in the latest master snapshot
Brian's Mail list account
The whole problem which I suggested should really have meant rolling back espeak since its got other proglems too, revolved around it crashing espeak when certain characters were encountered. To get the release out the function in Espeak has been disabled as it was the inclusion of the dictionaries that was crashing the speech engine. It also was not identifying these collections of symbols correctly which was also probably why it fell over when only one was seen, come to think of it. My advice would have been roll back two versions of espeak as the pronunciations are rubbish in uk English in some areas and the version in Speech Player in Espeak is in fact far far better for uk English speakers and there were no crashes either. Brian's Mail list account
Its not but its not intuitive which is why I suggested somebody wrote a basics article on it. Its more what to ignore than what to use on there. Its a typical site trying to be everything to everybody but ending up a bit of a cluttered mess for most unless they know the tricks. I do not particularly like the in field helpful comments either. I'd prefer separate fields one can fill in for the various questions myself. Brian

Luckily for me there was nothing seriously important for me to need to upgrade (both 2017.3 and 2017.4 seem to be concentrating on Braille and Windows 10, both of which are irrelevant for me at present), but I felt it important to mention it again in case others are still having these issues. Re: How to access Firefox notifications with NVDA
After seeing the message about moving headers in
Thunderbird, I installed the add on out of curiosity.
It appears there are some fields you can move and
some you can't; If you want to subject line after the from line, move the
subject line, which you can move and not the from line, which you can't.
The addon reports that you have moved the from line but it hasn't moved.
You'll have to experiment to see which fields you can actually move and which
you can't.

Re: How to access Firefox notifications with NVDA
Hi Group,
I have finally gotten this add-on downloaded and installed. It is
quite good. However, I can't seem to get the columns rearranged
at all. I press the keystroke insert + H to open this feature, I
see a list of columns and then I highlight one and tab to the up
button to move it. I am told that the column has been moved.
Then I tab to the close button. I see no other button except for
the down button. Is this supposed to work this way? If not, am I
missing a step?
Thanks for any help.

Re: OT: selecting a new laptop is more difficult than before
Hi guys! My HP Stream 11 has a SSD drive, and no fan. I have nothing to hear what so ever. It makes it interesting, because sometimes, it locks, and I can’t tell if it is still on or has it totally turned off LOL! Sometimes, it comes down to holding down the power button a few seconds and then I know I have shut it down. Then, I just tap the power button, and it turns on. Now, when you start the computer, you can turn on Narrator quickly, and it will take you through the start up before JAWS or NVDA starts talking LOL! It has been an adventure, but this baby only weighs 2 and a half pounds, and has a 128 Gig SSD Drive, and four Gigs of ram. This thing never gets hot, so it does not need a fan LOL! Take care, guys! Both our pcs still have regular drives so we're curious.
