Hi all,


Having installed the mozilla add-on, thanks to Gene's direct link, I have been trying to find a setting for the preview pane in T-bird and I'm coming up empty. I've been going through the menus systematically, but I know they can change depending on where you are in the program when you start this process. I've been in the message list and am not seeing anything about envoking a preview pane; I thought I'd see it in the view menu.

The whole problem which I suggested should really have meant rolling back espeak since its got other proglems too, revolved around it crashing espeak when certain characters were encountered. To get the release out the function in Espeak has been disabled as it was the inclusion of the dictionaries that was crashing the speech engine. It also was not identifying these collections of symbols correctly which was also probably why it fell over when only one was seen, come to think of it.
My advice would have been roll back two versions of espeak as the pronunciations are rubbish in uk English in some areas and the version in Speech Player in Espeak is in fact far far better for uk English speakers and there were no crashes either.

Hi guys!

My HP Stream 11 has a SSD drive, and no fan. I have nothing to hear what so ever. It makes it interesting, because sometimes, it locks, and I can’t tell if it is still on or has it totally turned off LOL! Sometimes, it comes down to holding down the power button a few seconds and then I know I have shut it down. Then, I just tap the power button, and it turns on. Now, when you start the computer, you can turn on Narrator quickly, and it will take you through the start up before JAWS or NVDA starts talking LOL!

It has been an adventure, but this baby only weighs 2 and a half pounds, and has a 128 Gig SSD Drive, and four Gigs of ram. This thing never gets hot, so it does not need a fan LOL!

We changed from using eSpeak NG 1.49.1 in 2017.3 to using 1.49.2, but
for
those not using the Next or Master snaps, the RC builds (or the final
2017.4 when it comes out) are likely the first time they've tried it.
So,
as Brian guessed, it's likely that the issues here are not specific to
this
RC as such, but to the change in eSpeak version, since the RCs are a
bit
more widely distributed. It would be good to get confirmation from

I used to read e-mail this way when I used to use Window Bridge with Eudora. I no longer use this approach. It is easier to skim message summaries, open the ones I am interested in and then continue. Having said that, configure outlook to move to the next message and try the approach. This is an outlook configuration more than a NVDA configuration. Yes, how much of the e-mail header is read remains to be tested.

Thanks, Shara. I can access the shop; I was jusst curious what might be
happening with firefox to make finding that link not possible. Quite
probably operator error, but I was curious. I have not yet upgraded to
the most recent release of NVDA.

access site is that I absolutely can't get to the "shop" link using
firefox esr version, but with IE11, it is easy. Why might that be? I
mean, I can't even find it with the find command when using ff.


also, with regard to the  ebooks for Word and the basic training

Where was the file downloaded from, the Drop Box account or the web page that was given later? 

 

When something may be corrupted in a download and there is no error message, the first thing that should always be done is to download it again.  Downloads at times aren't correct and there are no error messages.  If the file still can't be run after a second download, maybe others will have more suggestions.

I doubt it.  When a dialog opens on a web page, NVDA says the word "dialog."  Have you gotten to the alert message or heard its entire text?  On the new page you open, what is this option; is it a link?  Instead of tabbing until you get to it on the new page, use the screen-reader search function and search from the top of the page for the word "open."  See if you can find whatever it is on the page.  If you can't find it, I may find something in firefox that makes finding the alert easier.

To tell Firefox not to offer to remember passwords, do the following.

New main steps start on new lines:

Alt t then o to open options. 

After waiting a moment, tab once.  You are now in a list of categories.

Start down arrowing until you get to security.

If down arrowing stops moving you before you get there, up arrow once then continue down arrowing.

Once you get to security, start tabbing until you get to a checkbox that says something like remember logins.  Uncheck it with the space bar.  You won't be asked any longer.

There is no ok button in this dialog-like structure.  Settings take immediate effect.  This is a web page in the browser and since you are on a web page that mimics a dialog, do whatever you want to do that you would do while on a web page after you change the setting.  That is, go to another page by using a book mark, close the browser, etc.

Sometimes Firefox will put up notices, such as when it offers to remember passwords or when it informs you that has blocked a redirection from the site. How can I access these in order to either tell it I don’t want it to save a password or that I do wanted to allow a redirection?
