Re: nvda unresponsiveness

Hi Kevin
I often use internet explorer as my browser. Yes, I sometimes use firefox, but the problem is the same. Although I am not 100% sure, I would like to conclude that the problem is caused by the type of processor and the speed on my machine. Why, because on my other laptop which use intel (R(core(tm)I4 with 4GB memory, nvda respons very well without this problem. My new HP laptop which gives me this problem use intel (r) seleron processor at the speed of 1.6 GHZ. Hope you understand. I don't know what anti virus program you are using, but with many--particularly McAfee and Symantec products, they give a lot of false positives. I remember when people running NVDA had all sorts of problems with Symantec which kept eating up NVDA whenever it updated.

Re: I can't seem to create an account on the NVDA Vocalizer site what might I be doing wrong?
Roger Stewart
There are a rapidly increasing websites that don't work well with Firefox. Any Twitter client won't get registered at all if you use Firefox--it must be done with IE and not sure about Edge. Maybe this is one of them. Try going to the page with another browser and see if it will work. There's another site I use a lot, and when it's time to renew my subscription, it will refuse to work at all with Firefox but works every time with IE. Seems to be related to the interaction you must do with the site such as creating an account or paying for something. You can look at any website and find everything, but you just can't do much interactions with Firefox.

I haven't done a tutorial in quite some time and I don't recall if I say everything or just about everything the speech says, but I repeat everything as I move through a dialog, a ribbon, a menu, etc. I repeat everything that matters so users can tell what they need to know. My system accomodates both new and experienced synthesized speech users..

Hi Hareth I will add your name to it near the heading of the tutorial. I only have your first name so just add that or add a last name if you give it to me or i might just leave it off. not sure but might put and co? as i do not really want to put my name as in the extra bits. it will go up in the next 12 hours and I will be leaving a copy in the drop box account to link to for the file. If i know it will also work on 7,8 etc i will mention that when i get some more feed back.

Re: Browsing hierarchical tree of comments
Adriani Botez
Hello Tony,
unfortunately I could not find a work around for your problem. The comments are not separated by colors, but by aligments I guess. So, it certainly depends on the screen resolution and screen size as well. In my view, it is not possible to solve this problem by NVDA. And from an accessible perspective, you would need a multi line braille display or something like this to easily find the comment you want to read.
Apart from that, I doubt that it would improve your user experience if redit collapses all levels automatically. You would have to expand them again and again to find relevant comments.

8000+ comments: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/34m5n6/reddit_what_are_some_must_read_books/

Re: Automatic switch braile output table in NVDA
Adriani Botez
Hello, yes there is indicators in there. Look for example this URL in
romanian: http://ro-nvda.tk/userGuide.html It is the user guide for NVDA. Some examples: In Romanian, there is a letter which is pronounced tz. In braille this is dot 2, 4 and 6. But on the braille display there appears something with 'x012b' or so. eSpeak say "Character 1 2 b" when trying to read the letter. The whole word however is correctly pronounced. But not the single character. In Turkish, there is a letter which pronounced sounds like a mix of I and a. In braille is written by dot 3 and dot 5. For example the word nasılsın. It means how are you, but on the braille display there appears a code instead of dots 3 and 5 for that letter. Automatically switch language and dialects is enabled. When I manually choose output table Turkish, the sign is being correctly recognized. But eSpeak and other synthesizers still pronounce it wrong. What we would need here is an automatic combination of output tables in braille when corresponding letters need to be displayed. As far as I can see, Romanian braille is not implemented. Is it an option for NVDA to implement BRLTTY drivers in the core? That driver supports much more languages than libluis. Both drivers would cover much more signs.
