The bast expansion of nvda would be certainly been reached from
each other side or should I say boundless with no barriers. If we
work as one together there is no one left behind of using
computers. I am grateful to be part of the process of development
of this tool in screen reading. Looking forward to the upcoming
future release of nvda. Again, congrats to all. Robert Mendoza On 12/13/2017 6:59 PM, iván Novegil

Yes, for me it is better because at least I was able to remove it myself with no sighted help, but it is not so accessible anyway: I would not suggest it to anyone.

Hi,
I know I have seen this discussed before but didn't need to follow the thread at that time.
How accessible is Avast? Is it better than AVG or not?
Thanks.

I hope that in a few years time we have a Spanish-speaking country in the top of countries with users of NVDA. You've created the WhatsApp group, we're editing articles in Spanish about NVDA creating a big central information point and other people is contributing to the NVDA's expansion. Finally, some important persons of the international NVDA community speak Spanish as their main language. And it's really great and is helping us to grow up.

Indeed! Thanks for all you guys do at NVAccess! You're definitely
changing lives thorughout Mexico and Latin America, in having a
viable alternative than the regularly-used Jaws, especially
because of Jaws being so expensive, thus with NVDA you're
reopening doors for so many blind people who otherwise wouldn't
have been able to use computers. Also over at Ciberaprendiendo
(the Blindness tech podcast over at www.eiberoamerica.com) I'm
doing my promoting of NVDA via podcasts episodes dedicated to it,
hoping that even more resistant users of the Shark, might take the
plunge and switch. And lastly, my promoting NVDA has brought me to
create a Whatsapp Spanish group "NVDA Access para Todos" in which
we're already about 40 or 50 participants throughout Latin
America, in which we discuss NVDA experiences, answer questions
etc. So it's all of us's job to in our countries and/or areas,
continue spreading by example, all that NVDA has to offer in our
path towards integration with the sighted computer users. Graet
work! and may 2018 bring inspiration for you guys in implementing
features, and for us in suggestions, and mainly to continue
spreading the benefits of NVDA. El 12/12/2017 a las 09:09 p.m.,

Dear all, dear Quentin, First, huge thanks for your great work and for maintaining and improving this project continuously. At the same time, I really hope that nv access is aware of the growing social responsibility of this project for more and more blind and visually impaired people worldwide. The more users, the more feedback and the more likely that expectations to NVDA will increase. Not only with respect to fast improvement, but also regarding professionality and usability. I hope NV Access is aware of the huge development impact of this project and finally, I hope NV Access will not colaps under this pressure. I am sure there is a future plan for this aspect. With respect to financing, dfis like DEG, Proparco, FMO, american developing bank, african developing bank etc. are most probably willing to sponsor and donate for this project. In case of DEG, I am 100% sure it would provide sponsoring.

I want to be as secure as fort nox just like the next guy, but I don't want to be dictated to, have non accessible systems, have a screwed up box because of it, have no control bar a reformat, etc, etc, etc. Now msse, crappy security but I can control it. Why can I control crap software but not good software. I don't understand at all. And its why I am never going to use good security software even if it is accessible because I have done that to many times and then boom its changed without reason and bang back down I go. As a result I no longer trust any security software previder with my life. They don't serve me, so I don't serve them. A reformat fixes everything, they make it impossible for me to use their interface and thats where we are.

You know as long as you allowed something like tolque or the nvda controler dll in your program you could tell nvda what to say without an addon, teamtalk does this well enough.

Re: Survey: Preferred Help Format
It depends on what you want.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
1. htm, its the easiest system to handle. You can use it in any browser app. 2. chm, well its searchable, you can use something like 7zip to extract the html out of that. Pdf. I havn't really used this format, I have converted that to text files and read it like that. Html would be my prefered option over all as you can get access to it any way you wish. Chm is basically html but in a treeview I guess it could work. I have used pdf manuals but its much easier to have html. Saying that if its all online for something then thats fine to. Word documents are good, text files can be a bit long winded but can also be good.

Re: Error when selecting Download voices from NVDA Vocalizer menu
Are you sure things are just only your computer.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Try it on another, and or try it on another computer somewhere else. Sometimes sites just screw up totally. You can try restarting your box. Ofcause if that happens to much, its probably your network. Do search for cmd or comand prompt use shift control enter to get admin rights, say yes. then do ipconfig /flushdns then exit. Its saved me from restarting, you log back in and if it works then your net is out of sync with the network. I have found this happens from time to time and have no idea why it does.

When I get my gaming laptop, I am seriously going to outright ask for a driver disk, and a stright out win10 disk and see what they do, or an image without the demos and crap on it, I'll even pay a little extra for it not being included. Heck, I don't need their recovery image, win10 talks now so as long as I can get their site working and all the serials and things I can make it all work enough! Then again, a lot of the software that toshiba and hp have are usually usefull. Sadly their support app is inacurate its good to copy product info off but thats it sadly. I do think though that there needs to be some program or batch written to fix these dll issues though.

Yes indeed HP laptops if purchased from one of the big stores nearly always come with clutter. They have lots of junk, erm useful demos of expensive software on them and the first job really is to look at what is on there and remove all the unwanted stuff. However do be careful with demos of Microsoft Offiice as uninstalling these has a history of screwing up the registry for screenreader users.

Re: Avg was Re: [nvda] malware bites question
To be honest thats why I like.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
1. a pc with a data drive as well as a system drive. 2. backups. I have had security programs muck me about. But thats not a problem, all my data is double backed up on spining drives, the important stuff is on solid state drives and the cloud. If something screws up, just reformat and don't do it again. A reformat always fixes it. I know it will take me about 2 days to install and several days to reconfigure things. Sadly I do not have a 2 drive system, the next powerbox I get will have one even though the weight will be more. My dad and brother both have this system. That technically means that if I have a place to store configs of things, and my data, if it screws up, in theory I can cut the restore time in half. It may take you days to resolve the issue. It may take a week or 2 to fully restore but at least you know where you go. I use msse, and malwarebytes if something stupid goes up at me. I do have ublock and noscript 5x on my side, still sore about what mozilla did to firefox and web extentions, it appears they don't care about accessibility anymore. Its not spread to thunderbird yet and I have waterfox, that at least runs. And thats all I care about. I know thats selfish but I have been there and done that. Avg was good once. But then norton was darn good bar a few niggles from 1995-2003, after that it went downhill. Which was just sad, I still respect old nav, ndd, norton speed, and windoctor for their ease of use. Its all gone baa humbug! Now we must use crap software just to use our systems and not even then is it always safe to use your programs even with that but at least you can control it. If you switch to something better there is no garantee that it will stay that way. Now I want to be protected. Its just I really don't want to worry about program x suddenly being marked as bad even though it was good for ages. I don't need to reformat every couple weeks because things get deleted. I don't want to search for things or check things were working and I really don't care about babysitting. In the early days I did that. For whatever reason when I was 10 years yunger I enjoyed that. Not so much now. When msse first came out I realised how much time I was wasting. I havn't found anything to compair, not that win defender is safe, false alarms on a lot of blind games and programs not as much as other software but still means I have to keep watch. Even so I can still use my computer most of the time.

It won't give you update alerts if you set it not

Subject: [nvda] Speech Player In Espeak has it's own
issues So for the last few days, I've been using Speech Player in Espeak instead of Espeak-NG. The problem is there are a few glitches in this as well and I'm seriously considering just using my portable copy of 2017.3, except that I know that version gives me update alerts. The pronunciation glitches include some weirdness whenever the "ho" syllable is followed by a vowel. It doesn't do it with "home" or "host" but with words like "hoist" it becomes clear. And annoying. This is an issue I don't remember ever having in espeak before, so I don't know where it came from. Is there a way to stop NVDA from flagging reminders to update? If there is, I
might just go back to 2017.3 until these synth issues are fixed...

for me who set my punctuation set to none, it pauses on either side of the parenthesis. A comma does the same thing, so I would have to guess which is a paren and which a comma. i dont want to hear punctuations and set it to none. meanwhile, for capital letters, the first character of every word only can be capitalized. if not, espeak in nvda, reads many words letter by letter or ununderstandable and bad manner that its explanation is not easy for me to say in english.

Sky Mundell
Hello. This is Sky. I would like to thank NV Access for the great screen reader they’ve come out with. I had no idea that 11 years ago that NVDA would even be as good as it is now. 11 years ago , when I looked at NVDA, it was quite primitive compared to today. It didn’t support SAPI 4 until 2007, only SAPI 5. When you went into a dialog box, NVDA would read the entire dialog from top to bottom. For example, if you went into the run dialog, it would say, run dialog type the name of a folder, document, or internet resource, and windows will open it for you. OK button cancel button browse button. This was 11 years ago, 2006. Also, in 2006, You couldn’t install NVDA on a computer, you could only run it via USB, or if you had the folder on one of your drives, you had to launch that folder, and then run NVDA. Here’s to a great future with this product!
