Re: duplicate messages

Cindy,

I participate through the website, but all of my e-mail addresses are gmail addresses and I did not receive duplicate messages when I did testing with receiving individual e-mail messages.  I have just changed my subscription to individual e-mail messages and will reply via e-mail to this one and see what happens.

hello, Cindy!

There is nothing wrong about with google gmail account that you've been using. It just that the mailing list was intended to create this type of duplicating messages you've been experiencing right now. Or, I may say it was pretty something into a technical routing for receiving that was setup into the EO listing server perhaps.

Thank you so much for these very detailed instructions.

I, too, have used a similar method of inserting START HERE in all caps and using the find command to go back there especially when editing documents on different devices. I’ll try your work around for using the find/replace because I hate the find pane they are now using.

Again, thanks for being so thorough with your answer.

Hi Cindy,

Find uses a task pane in Word 2016.  You can still kind of access the traditional find dialogue by pressing control+h for "find and replace" - the focus is on the original replace page of the dialog but if you just type something and press ENTER, it's the same as using find.

Re bookmarks, you can insert them though they are a bit annoying (there might be a shortcut, I must admit I haven't used bookmarks a lot):

alt+n (for insert ribbon)

then Z, L, K for Bookmark

Then type the name you want to give your bookmark (you can set multiple bookmarks).

To get back to your bookmark later, press control+g for go-to

then shift+tab back to the "go to what" list, down arrow to bookmark, then tab back to the edit field and it automatically inserts the name of your last bookmark so you can press ENTER or type another bookmark name.

Personally I more often just type my name in where I want to get back to, save the file and then use find to find my name (and remember to delete your name again).  Best to keep a backup copy of documents you do that with, just in case you inadvertently change something though.

Regards

Quentin.

The other thing you can do, if you use them often, is add the bookmark option to the quick access toolbar:

press alt+n, z, l as before, but instead of pressing "k" to open the bookmark dialog, press tab until you get to bookmarks in the ribbon, then press the applications key to bring up the context menu, choose add to quick access toolbar.

You can then press alt+number to access it in future (alt+1 for the first option, save by default, alt+2 for the second, undo, etc).

Hi Brian,

I would have said:
1. Switch to brows mode.
2. Hit nvda key + f7.
3. Set the radio button to annotations.
4. Navigate the tree view.

However, I created a foot note and tried this without success. It is possible that I am not creating the foot note correctly.

I am not yet acting as a moderator but at the outset, I want to make what I consider an important point.

When I am writing as a list member and not sending moderation messages, I want and hope that list members will treat me as they always have.  That is, list members may feel as free as before to comment or disagree with me when I write as a member.  When I write as a moderator, then the rules apply for dealing with moderation matters but I see the two as completely separate.  I have the impression that on many lists, moderators may be treated differently even when they are participating as list members and I want to assure the list that I don't want that to be the case with me.

I am looking forward to working with Nimer to keep the list running smoothly and to help the list meet the needs and concerns of NVDA users.  I look forward to serving the list.

Hello all,

Up until tonight, I was happily using the Facebook app for Windows 10 to access Facebook. I saw that there was an update for it in the Windows Store and thinking that it probably got some exciting new features to try out, I've updated it. And boy, did I got disappointed. Yes, exciting new features to try out probably it has (as far as I could see from its interface change). But its accessibility was completely broken after the update. Before that, I could with a hand on my heart easily say that the Facebook app for Windows 10 was one of the most accessible apps in the Windows 10 Store (apart the ones from Microsoft that is). But after today's update, it is no longer so. Neither NVDA or Narrator can read anything in the app when it is opened. Actually, only thanks to my residual sight I was able to login with my Facebook account into the app in the first place - even that part is not accessible.

My question is. Does some of you know how can we contact the Facebook accessibility team, so we can tell them about this issue? I've tried to send feedback via the form on this web page:
https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/169372943117927
But each time I try to submit the form, I get the following error message:

Your request cannot be processed
There was a problem with this request. We're working on getting it fixed as soon as we can.
Close

Note, that I'm not looking for an alternative way to access Facebook - I can  work with the Facebook desktop site if needs be. I just want the accessibility in the Facebook app for Windows 10 to be fixed, so I can resume using it with pleasure as I did before. So that is why I'm looking for a way to contact the Facebook accessibility team.

Hi
Does libreoffice need any visual c+ redistributables to be installed?
Thanks!
Pete

hi.
libreoffice is accessible and you dont need to install java-java
access briedge to make it accessible.
just download libreoffice and enjoy it without any additional program,
no cust, open source, very great project, and support for more than
110 languages.
i am shure that libreoffice is the best selection!
thanks so much for your asking and god bless you.

Both LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice offer good no-cost open source
assistive technology tool support on Windows having implemented the
IAccessible2 API.
LibreOffice-- http://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ (5.1.2
build released 2016-04-01 in either 32-bit or 64-bit, as opposed to the
5.0.5 build released 2016-02-08)
Apache OpenOffice -- http://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html (4.1.2
build released 2015-10-30)

The Apache project limps along, but the 4.1.2 build should suffice for use
with NVDA releases, but I would choose a LibreOffice build as its
development model offers more resources for addressing any functional
issues.

Doesn't surprise me. I'm a little bit shocked even for nostalgic reasoning that anyone would want to attempt this, but, I guess each is to his or her own, huh.

Hi,
No, that method will not work either.

hi
When I was running windows me Some one told me nvda worked with 9x, I couldn't get it to work. Not sure if it does or not. May be using python and running nvda from source might work.

nvda work with windows 98? if so what version? I am playing around
with a win98 vm and was curious if I could get nvda to run on the os I
would be using this for nastelgia purposes thanks Hank
