Which further enhancements in automatic language switch do you want?

If the update is taking this long, the update better include the 2.2 version of Vocalizer Expressive, along with lots of bug fixes and further enhancements to automatic language switching.

Maybe, but we have several problems and was not possible...

Of course not! On that time, I believe no one knew when it will be possible to change to Python 3.0, WXCom 4.0 and so on...
But, if we are now finishing the driver addon it is mandatory that it will be compatible with all the changes, right?

You wrote:

Right, but no one, in the time of purchase, promissed updates... And the product is working allright with the last version of Windows and last version of NVDA, right?

You wrote:

Sorry, but you can disable a activation through NVDA/Vocalizer Expressive menu...
If it will be impossible to do that, logically you have to contact the supplier, as in all products, as far as I know... What product lets you increase the activations counter without disabling a activation?

Hi,
Out of the two synthesizars, and three different British male voices available for NVDA. Which voices between Malcolm, Daniel, and Oliver is the most expressive when reading.

OH no. This is definitely not hacked at all. Kurzweil1000 makes it available outside of for use on Windows. Not that I'd use Eloquence since I've gotten so used to Vocalizer since it continues to evolve, but nevertheless it's just a curiosity I have since I discovered some time ago that this Eloquence works too on NVDA.

Some newer members may not know that I am the moderator.  My view is that if Kurzweil wanted people not to use that option, they would restrict use of the synthesizer so it couldn't be used in that way.  They've had over a decade to do so and they haven't.  Therefore, I have no objection to discussing that option.  If the list owner disagrees, he will let us know.

Yes that's the reason I asked because I I don't know if it's meant for use with only kurzweil, or why is it available from outside of, as Sapi? Not that I'd use it, because since I've gotten so used to Vocalizer on my phone, I've gotten very used to in consequence, to Vocalizer here on NVDA; but I?m just wondering in case someone who's got kurzweil1000 on their system and hasn't noticed it.

Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>

Yes indeed I saw the same thing on my lode Windows 10 machine. Worse, as you say legacy software gets removed and you have to reinstall it.

I was pretty annoyed as the patched copy of Outlook Express I have works very well on 7 and did on 10 also, but every time a major update came along it orphaned off the software, amongst other old stuff like drivers and one had to spend half a day trying to fix it all again. There really is not reason for it, ie if they are worried that something may not work, then just warn us that this might occur, and we can take pot luck.

Sorry I feel very passionate about this continual adding of new features at the expense of familiar working ones.
Its a bit like new lamps for old in the old Aladdin fairy tale. No I want my old trusty lamp as it had known quirks, but not the new quirks on the new program.

If I had 10 pounds for everyone who has had issues with the Windows 10 Email client not working after an update, at least with a screenreader, I'd have had enough to have a nice cruise by now.

Hi everyone.

So I've heard all the arguments and I'm not here to bitch about Windows
always wanting to update itself. However, I must say I am very annoyed.
Sometimes, when Windows updates, changes I have made continually are getting
revoked, and reset back to their original values. Examples would be Windows
Mobile Device Centre, which at some point between Anniversary and Creators'
update disabled a setting that I need to use my old Windows ME device with
the computer (a Braille note, if anyone's curious). Cortana reactivates
itself even though I specifically took action to disable it. More
pertinently to this list, a while ago I became very annoyed at the long
pauses Microsoft Core voice inserts between sentences and after detecting a
comma. I was instructed by a very helpful person on this list to edit an
.ini file, which, although it was not quite in the location he specified,
did the trick very nicely. Well, here we go again: nVDA, using MS Core
voices, is pausing for as much as two seconds between sentences, and I hate
it. Of course, I'm going to go back into that .ini file, and change it
again. How long before Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, decides that no,
I really don't want things set the way I say I want, and undoes what I took
time and effort to change? How can I prevent this sort of garbage from
happening, or is this just the kind of thing PC users have to live with
nowadays?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Vocalizer from Tifloteknia

Nimer Jaber

Hello,

Thank you for this update. This add-on and these voices were promised two years ago. Surely last year the product could have been released, right? Or did you know about all the changes that were coming for 2018.1 and decided not to release the product until then? If that is the case, then why keep on telling users that the product is coming, the product is coming? Why give timelines?

I am sorry if I am harsh about this issue, but this is a product that users pay much money for. The licensing scheme where users don't have a way of getting licenses without contacting the company bothers me. the lack of updates bothers me. The miscommunication bothers me. It all bothers me. i do hope that the product is released as promised, that it contains fixes and better variety of voices, but so far I don't see any evidence of this other than more promises of updates still yet to come.

I am aware that development is difficult, or can be, and that unforseen things come up. I do have compassion for things like this, but what I don't understand is why it has taken literally years, why the product still hasn't been updated, and why users still receive promises of updates to come.

I am not saying that current users are not happy with the product. I am glad that users are happy with what is out there. However, there are sapi versions that have more voices and that work pretty well. For me to recommend the add-on, I have to have some compelling reason, right? I guess receiving incorrect promises and not getting timely updates or information about updates bothers me.

Thanks.
